Twin Pines RV Park, Slaton, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

2nd stay here, passing through from Denver. Very clean and well maintained. Very friendly staff to check us in and escort us to our pull-through spot. No problem getting a spot without a reservation. Quite a few work campers but all rigs and sites were impeccably maintained. Very quiet park. Downtown Slaton has a great little bakery on the square, but get there early if you want kolaches! We camped at Twin Pines RV Park in a Motorhome.

St. Vrain State Park, Longmont, Colorado

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Review is for the electricity only sites; these sites have paved road access and large, level concrete pads for parking. Some are pull-through and some back-in. Picnic table and shelter are on a large, level gravel pad. Pick your site carefully. We were a group of 3 RVs with sites 38, 39, and 40. These were chosen because they were right on one of the ponds, with unobstructed views. As it turns out, there are a lot of fishermen and they have full access to the shore - even in your campsite. This includes use of your picnic table and shelter unless you happen to be occupying it. It may not bother some, but having someone smoking and carrying on a loud conversation in my reserved spot was annoying and detracted from our enjoyment of the park. Other than that, kudos to the park staff and hosts for keeping the park spotless! We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Motorhome.

Blue Valley RV Park, Walla Walla, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park, nice staff. Very clean and quiet park, convenient to many downtown tasting rooms and restaurants. Sites are level with plenty of room for a toad. I was a little concerned reading some of the previous comments, but we experienced no problems at all. We will stay here again as we come back to hit more of the wineries. We camped at Blue Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

American Heritage Campground, Olympia, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

What a great find! This is what you'd like to have in a national park; large trees, lots of space between sites, and with power, water, and sewer. We were screened from other sites by trees and bushes for lots of privacy. If you prefer open spaces, there were some sites in an open, grassy area that looked nice also. The office staff was very friendly and helpful. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Motorhome.

Check out Sandstone Distillery just south of Millersylvania Park. Bacon Whiskey. Spent mash feeds the pigs, pigs provide bacon for flavoring, perfect cycle.

John Wayne's Waterfront Resort (formerly Sequim Bay Resort), Sequim, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 2 nights and was very pleased with the park. Our site was a pull-through long enough for our Class C and Miata toad. Sites were level; sites and roads were gravel and well-graded. The office staff was friendly and helpful. One bonus is that they allow you to wash your rv in your spot. We camped at John Wayne's Waterfront Resort (formerly Sequim Bay Resort) in a Motorhome.

The nearby marina was a great diversion if you like watching boats; the restaurant in the marina was top-notch. Recommend walking the short distance dawn the road to see and read about the restoration of the pocket estuary.

Stayed one night passing through. Park was very clean and staff was friendly. Park was very good - quiet and well maintained. Pad was gravel, but the roads were paved and no problem with tree branches overhead. We camped at Pendleton KOA in a Motorhome.

Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground), Olympic National Park, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park right on the ocean. Our site backed up to the bluff over the beach and we had a wonderful view of the beach, surf, sea otters, and sunset. These sites are very few however; the great majority of the campsites are back in the trees, and in spite of it being a bright, sunny day, these were dark and dreary in comparison. This shouldn't detract from the experience, however, as rain or shine the place to be is on the beach. We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Convenience store at the nearby lodge was nicely stocked with beer, wine, and camp food/necessities. Site roads were easy to navigate for smaller rigs. A larger travel trailer or 5th wheel requires skill in maneuvering to get into some of the spots.

Nehalem Bay State Park, Nehalem, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 2 night over July 4th. While there was plenty of space between the sites, the park seemed very crowded with vehicles parked and people in chairs at the very edge of the road. I rated the service as only 2 stars because our site (D54) had an error fault on our electrical management system for "reverse polarity" and I did not want to risk electrocution if true. A worker checked it out and said we had 120V so we were good to go, but he admitted to not knowing much about electricity. It was not repaired while we were there, so we went without power. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Walnut Point State Park, Oakland, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Showed up July 3 without reservations; park was only about 1/4 full and we had our pick of spots for the night even though there were no spots available after that due to the July 4th weekend. Parked in a great spot near the lake. Fireflies put on a great light show! We camped at Walnut Point State Park in a Motorhome.

Peaks-Kenny State Park, Dover-Foxcroft, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for a week in June. We made our reservations a couple months in advance so our choice of sites was limited; however, the sites are all very nice, wooded, and with space between the sites. Many sites have interesting ledges or large boulders left after the last ice age that provide great places for kids to climb and explore. One tip is that the sites are identified by the size of the RV that they will accommodate. I found these to be very conservative. Our Class C is approximately 30 foot overall with the rear slide open and we would have easily fit in the campsites identified as "small - pop up or tent up to 20 feet." I believe the sizes allow for an RV and one vehicle. Road in from the park gate is about a mile of well graded gravel surface and there were no overhanging limbs to worry about. Access to the lake was by a short walking trail to a beach/picnic area with side trails along the lake shore or through the woods. We camped at Peaks-Kenny State Park in a Motorhome.

Small but well-stocked general store about a mile from the park entrance.

Poor to no cell phone service at the RV park - but that's part of the joy of camping!
