Williams / Exit 167 / Circle Pines KOA, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

A nice KOA and definitely good value. Sites vary in size a bit and we were lucky with a fairly large site. Not much in the way of shade but some trees. It is noisy with the highway and odd train but not horrible. Close to WIlliams and an hour from the Grand Canyon. Liked the mini golf and all kinds of kids seemed to love the bouncy pillow and playgrounds. We camped at Williams / Exit 167 / Circle Pines KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't miss the town of Williams. Quaint, fun and some good souvenirs. If in the busy season, pay attention to the parking tips at the Grand Canyon. There are other parking lots than at the Visitor Center and they fill up later. We got a parking tip sheet when we entered the park. Park entrance fees are good for a week so you don't have to do it all in a day.

Great Falls KOA, Great Falls, Montana

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We were happy to find it open in February. They were on winter hours but we were well served and had running water. Winds were incredible and had to pull in slide to stay vertical during the night. This is the only campground I can recall in recent years that offers free firewood. Not applicable on this night but a nice touch. It is a bit pricey and the rate we got was less than the KOA online rate. We camped at Great Falls KOA in a Motorhome.

The park continues to impress us. Clean, nice pool area that was warm enough even in February (barely). Great price and location. Will stay there again. We camped at Las Vegas RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Las Vegas RV Resort , Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Really nice clean park for an incredible price. Service great both on phone and in person. Escort to site which is useful as it is a large park and a bit confusing. Pool was awesome. Also liked the adult only rule as we were tired of kids after a month on the road. WiFi not great and no cable. Went to clubhouse to watch baseball but winds had caused signal loss. But we will be back. We camped at Las Vegas RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Barstow / Calico KOA, Yermo, California

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

On the plus side we found the staff accommodating. Even gave us a discount on propane fill because we had to wait 10 minutes. Be sure to get a site with shade trees. Made a huge difference. On the negative side I don't like the oleander bushes with warning signs about berries, leaves and wood being poisonous. Our dog loves bushes so had to watch carefully. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Motorhome.

Bakersfield River Run RV Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

About as nice a park as you can find. Can't think of any negatives - sites, WiFi, cable TV, cleanliness, service - all top notch. We were planning to Walmart it overnight but were kicked out so had to go here. Glad we did and spent less camping here than we would have buying stuff at Walmart. We camped at Bakersfield River Run RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bodega Bay RV Park, Bodega Bay, California

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

Nice very clean park with good sites. We were impressed with staff seemingly working all the time to clean, rake gravel and improve roads. It was quiet during the week and full on weekend. Good wifi. Great staff. Rented fire ring. We camped at Bodega Bay RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Found ourselves rushed at Mexican restaurant nearby. Grocery store nearby was great and there was more to do locally than we chose to. Spent most of the time at various roadside beach access spots to the north.

San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA, Petaluma, California

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $61.00
Overall Rating:

Huge park and very busy. Mostly locals, so tons of kids on weekends, but still busy in week. Rates much more expensive on weekends. Actually too many kids on banana bikes, some with no helmets or flags. Tricky driving with them all over the place. Many amenities, but mostly kid oriented. San Fran trip did not have enough takers so had to book in and drive to city. Found park hard to drive around. Need a few EXIT signs. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

Visit Sonoma vineyards. Especially those that don't charge for tasting (Jacuzzi Bros and Kline for e.g.). Preferred area over Napa. San Fran tour a must for newcomers like us.
