McGregor RV Park, Fort Myers, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a mobile home park partly converted for RV's. There is only one good RV site with a pad . All the rest are on grass in areas that flood during every rain so flooded a lot. Some year-round residents that are very low income with old RV's falling apart. The park is not maintained and grass is cut maybe once every month. The trash piles up at the dumpster and is laying around the park. There are abandoned cars and trailers. A couple of the motor coaches staying there have not moved in 10yrs are more and falling apart even though year round people live in them. It is not a place for that great vacation in Florida. the prices are fairly high considering the condition of the park. While staying here it rained quite a bit and there was 4" of water around my travel trailer. I could not step out of the RV with shoes on as i would be soaked. Even where the truck was parked was surrounded by water. This lasted for 3 weeks while i was there in January of 2016. The location of the park is good but all else falls short. if you are not from the area the owners will charge you a much higher rated then the other tenants. Seems they pay $500. a month but any out of towners can expect rates as much as $950/ month. The owners do not put anything into the park . the washer and dryer 2 of each have been removed and none are available on site. The restroom/shower is in a old mobile home and never clean nor very private . We camped at McGregor RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Close to Sanibel Island and Fort Meyers beach if you don't mind a short drive. The closest beach is 2 miles away. Beach parking is $3.00 an hr so walking or riding a bike is the best way

Hitchin Post Corral and Campground, Cottondale, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a new park off Hwy 10 and hwy 231 exchange. Great access to hwy and a Loves service station is only three-quarters of a mile away for that early morning fueling. I just stayed the night, but was impressed by the owners commitment to making this a nice place to stay for a night, week or more. Sites are level and access is very good . They allow pets including horses. A nice lake at the west end of the park offers good fishing. I will stay here every time I come through the area and next time for more than a night. I have a 35' toyhauler and full size truck and the site had excess space . We camped at Hitchin Post Corral and Campground in a Travel Trailer.
