Oak Plantation Campground, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for a monthly rate of $750 (we did receive notice that the price will increase to $925 in January because of upgrades they are doing). The place was pretty huge, and most spots could handle any sized rig. Staff was friendly. Overall the place was good; we'd stay here again if we were in the Charleston area. Having said that, there were some negatives. It's about a 1/4 from the front to the back - you have to navigate over 11 sets of speed bumps/humps, it's borderline ridiculous. Because we were 'monthly', we had to submit a picture of our rig and tow vehicle before they would accept our reservation. They also did a 'meet and greet' after we set up to make sure we had everything in order, hose under rig, sewer hose off ground, etc. None of those things were deal breakers, but kinda odd. water pressure came in at 38PSI, the office said normal is 40, which wasn't enough to fill our toilet bowl, so we had to fill the tank and use the water pump. And as someone else said, 4 washers, and 2 dryers isn't near enough for the amount of sites (although they work very well). We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The shopping center just past the campground has pretty much everything you need.. Publix, frozen yogurt, pizza, hibachi, a pub style restaurant, nail salon, UPS store, bank and a vet (who was wonderful with our two dogs, definitely recommend them). Don't waste time trying to turn left out of the campground if there is any traffic. Just turn right and then right on to Bees Ferry, right on Jerry McConnell to get you back to the interstate. Much safer, less frustration.

Magnolia RV Park and Campground, Kinards, South Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

overnight stop, cute campground, just a bit off the interstate, so some highway noise, but we didn't hear it inside the RV. They escorted us to our site, which was probably the longest site we've ever had - 42' fifth wheel, disconnected the truck, pulled it forward and still had plenty of room behind rig and in front of truck. Plenty of shade trees there but still able to get satellite. water pressure was low. We'd stay here again if we were driving through. We camped at Magnolia RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Guist Creek Marina and Campground, Shelbyville, Kentucky

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Don't follow the GPS, it will try to take you through a subdivision. Follow the brown signs once you get into town; they take you straight to it. The interior road was narrow with speed bumps, so while big rigs could get in there, it wasn't the easiest to navigate. It was super muddy, and made for difficult entry/exit of the rv. There was a very 'nature' smell everywhere - okay, it smelled like dog poop. Our rig was too big to use the dump station; couldn't make the curve into the pullout. We camped at Guist Creek Marina and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tom and Carol's RV Park, Cerro Gordo, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We had to come back to the area for a job, and Tom and Carol's Park is still the most convenient (there's just not much near Forsyth, IL). We parked our rig in the fairgrounds lot and just used electric for the month. The night before leaving the area we came back to the RV and found that the park had no water , but they ran several hoses to allow us to fill our tanks from a neighbor. Tom is super nice, and he looked after our rig while we were on the jobsite. can't beat the value. We camped at Tom and Carol's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Kamper Kompanion RV Park, Litchfield, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

the grounds were nice driving into the campground. There was an off leash dog area, but watch your little ones there because the fence isn't very stable. The sites were in a big circle, reminiscent of wagons circling instead of rv sites. It was the most convenient park on our travel through IL, but it wasn't that impressive for our overnight stay. We camped at Kamper Kompanion RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Warrior RV Park, Tulsa, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Overnight stay, convenient on and off the interstate. Space wasn't long enough for tow vehicle and our 42' fifth wheel, but the campground allowed us to park in an empty site right in front of us. Staff was nice. Bath house was clean. I thought it odd that the toilet paper was chained so it couldn't be taken, but since the paper towels weren't chained down, there weren't any, then it made sense. Most sites seemed to be filled with long time guests, but we'd probably stay again if driving through. We camped at Warrior RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The others have said all the pertinent information - road into the park isn't in great condition, so be on the lookout for potholes. Roads are wide enough, sites are long enough, inexpensive laundry. The week we were there for a rally, the plumbing in the clubhouse and in the bathhouses didn't function, there was only bathroom without an out of order sign on it. We prayed for wind because that was the only thing that kept the stench of the neighboring farm away. We enjoyed our week there because of the people we were with, but I don't think we'd make a special trip back to this park. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Worlds of Fun Village, Kansas City, Missouri

Overall Rating:

The park was very nice, great tree break between sites, great layout. First row backs up to the road, and it's very loud, ALL.THE.TIME. The pool/hot tub was nice while it was open for the season. We'd stay here again, just not on the first row. We camped at Worlds of Fun Village in a Fifth Wheel.

Sioux Falls KOA, Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Quick, overnight stay. Called about an hour before we got there and they were able to find us a site (and it was full when we left in the morning). They had a horrible rain storm the night before so it was muddy, everywhere, especially the dog park. Seemed to have a lot of things to do on site, and they had a 10% off coupon for Perkins. Would stay again as a stop over. we have a 42' fifth wheel and had to unhook and park the truck sideways to fit in the spot. We camped at Sioux Falls KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Rapid City KOA, Rapid City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

There are definitely pros and cons for this place. We're in a 42' fifth wheel, and needed a place close to the airport. The good first - nice staff, grounds were pretty well maintained (I didn't get the impression it was in disrepair as other reviews said). All you can eat pancake breakfast for $2.99 every day, activities every night, including wine tasting Friday nights! Pool very clean, fenced in dog area, two laundry rooms (we used the back one near dog park). Only had 30 amp sites available, very few 50 amps on the map. Even parked at the back of the site, we still had to use a 20' sewer hose with a 10' extension. There was a dip and then an uphill slope to the sewer hookup, so we had to walk the hose to dump. Dryers in laundry room didn't work very well, so basically had to keep feeding quarters. The biggest 'con' for me was the pet fee: $2 a pet, per day. They never said anything about a fee when they asked if we had pets (most places do ask if you have pets, none have ever charged us though). So we paid $24 for our two dogs to sit and stare out the window. For that reason alone, we won't come back. We camped at Rapid City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Park Campground, Rapid City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $61.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 9 nights. The first two nights were at $82.50(last weekend of Bike Week) and the next six nights were at $61, with a free night to make it the 'weekly rate'. We've stayed at some tight sites before, and this is probably number 2 on the list for how close can you get to your neighbor . It's a relatively small park anyway, but they have folks jammed in as tight as possible. Because we still work fulltime we have two criteria when picking a park....full hookups, close proximity to an airport. After staying here, we'll be sure to add dog area to our list. The dog walk was across the street from park... like go out of the park, cross traffic and over to a patch of grass beside the bike trail. My dogs were freaked out by traffic so it definitely wasn't fun taking them out. It's not a bad park, but it's the equivalent of apartment living in the city. It worked for us because of the proximity to the airport, but if we come back to the area, we'll take vacation so aren't hindered by that criteria. There were amazing parks on the Custer State Park side. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Kennebec KOA, Kennebec, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Yep, an overnight spot when you're traveling through South Dakota. That's about it. There were kids enjoying the pool and the Chuckwagon 'restaurant' was open. Camp store had alcohol, not much else. Looked like most of the spots were level, ours was mostly level, but had to dump uphill, so not a spot I'd choose again. Dog park was small, but the dogs loved being off leash after being cooped up all day. We camped at Kennebec KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Flying Goose Campground, Fairmont, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Well maintained, manicured park on Lake Imogene. I had never seen a blue spruce except on a Christmas tree lot, but they had some gorgeous ones throughout the property. Nice swings to sit near the lake. Seemed like it was mostly seasonal folks, but if we had to the chance to go again, we would. We camped at Flying Goose Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We ate at the Bean Town Grill which was about 4 miles away - a little more expensive ($50 for 2) but really good. If you want to check out the most kitschy place in town, head inside the Dairy Queen and you'll get your fill!

Waterloo / Lost Island Waterpark KOA, Waterloo, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Overnight stop, but when we come back through, we'll probably plan to stay longer just to relax. Huge park, RV sites, tents, super cute cabins. Still seems to be a fairly new park with tiny trees, but everything looks nice and is well maintained. Large fenced in dog park, and either everyone picked up after their pet (that would be the first time that's happened) or they actually go in and clean the park because there were no doggies surprises anywhere we walked throughout the park or dog park. Camp store was stocked well, and you can even buy your fuel there. SO much to do at the park itself, not to mention the water park and casino across the street, and the town was a mile or two away and had everything you could need. Without a doubt, the nicest KOA we've ever visited. We camped at Waterloo / Lost Island Waterpark KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Clinton Lake State Recreation Area, Dewitt, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This was an overnight stop for us, so we didn't use anything at the park itself. There are 308 sites, 6 are 50 amp full hookup. Camp hosts were nice (this is their 6th year there). Water pressure was extremely low, but that could have been because we had to actually duct tape the handle to get it to work. Cheap for overnight, and very outdoorsy if you like that type of thing - saw bike and walking paths, a 'beach', marina. We camped at Clinton Lake State Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.
