Water's Edge RV Park, Shoal Brook, Newfoundland

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Rate of $25.00 per night plus tax for 30 amp electric and water only, there is a "Boil Order" in place for the water before drinking, No sewer dump available on site. Closest sewer dump is 11 miles back, free and just a few hundred feet off the highway. Easy access and clean. Not all sites have 30 amp electric, some with 20 amp and water and some water only. The RV Park is located just off the shoulder of the highway. Every site borders the highway on one end and the bay on the other end. There are no roads, the park is one large relatively level lot of crushed gravel. Sites are well marked and separated by a small barrier. No shade, totally open. Each site is extremely deep and adequate in width to allow for comfortable use of slide outs, awnings and outdoor camping without encroachment on the neighbor. The office offers a very small store with a few basic items to include fishing items. There is one single bathroom and one single shower room. The rooms are not fancy, the shower is a residential type plastic shower stall with lots of hot water. Both rooms are functional and clean. Although right on the highway, traffic noise was not really a factor. Verizon and T Mobile worked well, no Sprint service. There is a fishing dock. Whales frequent the bay. The manager/owner is very hospital and willing to please. We would stay here again. We camped at Water's Edge RV Park in a Motorhome.

Kinsmen Prince Edward Park, Corner Brook, Newfoundland

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Rate of $33.00 total per night, no discounts, site 4. This park has the feel of a state/providential park. Dirt roads, lots of trees with each campsite being in its own little alcove. Roads are hard packed gravel single lane one-way and adequate in size to access site. Pads are crushed gravel with a little grass/dirt for patio area. Sites are wide and long enough for comfortable outdoor use. Utilities, full hook ups, are all on left side and within easy reach. There is a "Boil Order" in place for the water before drinking. Campground offers free WIFI (did not use) at site and has bathrooms and showers, did not use although the building from the outside looked well maintained, clean and modern. Each site had a picnic table, fire ring and trash can. Our site did allow for satellite access, some sites will be blocked by trees. Verizon and T Mobile worked well, no Sprint service. Staff was friendly. We spent 2 nights here and would return if in area. We camped at Kinsmen Prince Edward Park in a Motorhome.

Nimrod's Campground, Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Rate of $33.35 per night for electric & water only. No discounts. Sewer available at dump station only. Road through park is a single lane dirt/gravel one-way loop road. Easy enough to navigate. Sites 11 thru 22 are extremely close together, only 15' wide, there is not enough room for two large coaches to park next to each other with both extending their slide outs and awning without encroaching on neighboring site. Waterfront sites are parallel to the road. Perimeters sites are all back in and significantly wider than the rest of the sites in the park. All sites are very deep/long. All sites share an electric/water pedestal with a neighbor site. Depending which site you have and which direction you choose to park, the pedestal could be located on either side of the coach and at either end. You may need extensions for electric and water hose. All sites are hard packed grass. Most sites are dual 30 amp plugs. Some center row sites have both 30 & 50 amp service. We had no problem earlier in the week with the electric until late Friday when the park began to fill up then our 30 amp breaker popped a number of times. All sites are open with some shade on perimeter sites only. Most sites have a picnic table and fire ring. The bathrooms & shower are on a bare concrete slab in a wooden structure. There are two shower rooms, one each for men and women with only one shower per room. The building is old and tired. There is a simple playground for the children and a swimming dock and platform in the lake. There are also fish in the lake. There is no privacy or seclusion in this park as the park is wide open with very few exceptions. Verizon and T Mobile had weak signal, just 1 bar, would work but calls would occasionally drop. No Sprint service. Park WIFI available around office and rally room. The park is staffed by two individuals, both very friendly and willing to accommodate. We spent 3 nights here and would return if we could get either a lake front or perimeter site. We camped at Nimrod's Campground in a Motorhome.

Woodhaven RV Park of Halifax, Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Rate of $47.00 includes tax for full hookups, not all sites are full hookups. Entrance to the park is via a long gravel/dirt private drive up to the top of a hill. We have stayed here twice in the last 30 days, 3 nights first stay and 4 nights second stay. Park has, in my opinion, two sections, the older mature section with trees and some privacy and an open section, section/row H. First stay we were in row H, very unlevel, front wheels off the ground and steps very high. Second stay we requested a more level site with a satellite view, were placed in site C-7, much better, liked it. Park has wide single lane gravel roads with all sites having a gravel pad with grass. We did not have any trouble navigating through the park, but could be tight in some areas. Most sites are back to back and not overly long. Width is adequate for slide outs and awning use and still leave room to comfortably be outside. Utilities were at the back of the site and ours worked well, no problem with the water, sewer or electric. Most sites had a picnic table and fire ring. Appears a large percentage of the park is for seasonal campers. Bathrooms/showers are in a cinder block building with a tile floor. The shower stalls are cinder block with curtains. Appeared somewhat clean, however the building is very worn, dingy, in need of some upgrades - not at all appealing. Facility has a decent pool area in front of the office. The owners were very friendly and happily accommodated our requests for our return visit. This is a busy full park during summer weekends. Verizon, Sprint and T Mobile all worked well. Did not try/use park WIFI or over the air antenna. About a 20 - 25 minute drive to downtown Halifax. Note - if you use the parking meters and Parallel Park, make sure your tires are no further than 150 MM (less than 6 inches) from the curb. They will write you a ticket, $25.00. We would return here if in the area. We camped at Woodhaven RV Park of Halifax in a Motorhome.

Wishing Star Camping, Shediac, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Rate of $47.00 includes tax for full service, 30 amp, water and sewer. The park is easily accessible from the road. All roads in the park are narrow, single lane and paved. All sights are back in and movement in the park can be tight, especially when trying to maneuver in or out of your site depending on how vehicles are parked around you. Sites are short but adequate in width to allow for slide outs and awning. Each pad appears relatively level, is hard packed gravel with a grass area that has a picnic table and fire ring. There is little to no privacy, few tress/shade and park feels crowded when full as it was during our visit. Utilities are all located at the rear of the coach and extensions for sewer/water and electric may be needed. There is a small playground for children. The majority of the park seems to be occupied by adult seasonal units with French being the predominate language. The park is clean. We did not look for or use the restrooms or showers or check for WIFI or TV service. Good location in the heart of town with retail services close by. A short 20 minute drive to Moncton. We stayed 2 nights and would stay here again. We camped at Wishing Star Camping in a Motorhome.

Hartt Island RV Resort, Fredericton, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

Rate of $67.50 per night is with a Good Sam discount, need to add 15% tax back to rate. Staff friendly. The use of the word resort is a stretch. As per previous posts, all roads and pads are gravel. Site are adequate size with metal trash can, picnic table and fire ring at each site. Full hook ups include both 30 & 50 amp. The park is right off the road and our site, number 58 was close enough to have constant road noise. Restrooms & showers are in a cinder block building with concrete slab, each shower stall has a curtain. The room was clean, not overly fancy but adequate and typical for many RV Parks. There is a laundry room with several washers and dryers that also looked clean. The park fronts on the St John River and has a small dock. The park also operates and is attached to a small water park. Very nice, very clean. This water park is marketed for day use to non-campers for a daily fee and results in lots of congestion around the office. The use of the water park is included in the camping fees. There is a small snack bar at the waterpark and a food truck at the top of the RV Park with an expanded menu. There is also an outdoor playground for children. Majority of campers during summer are families with lots of children throughout park. There are swimsuits and towels hanging all over the park in the various sites. Location not far from Kings Landing, 25 minute drive. We did not use the WIFI or check for TV reception. Sprint, Verizon and T Mobile all worked well. Major downside for us is the cost, we do not need the water park or river view unless we had our grandchildren with us. We will check other options for camping in the area before returning here, based solely on price, otherwise we would return here. Ideal Park for children. We camped at Hartt Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Bouctouche Baie Chalets et Camping, Saint-Édouard-de-Kent, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Rate of $43.47 per night, includes tax with Good Sam discount for full hookup site. This is a controlled access park, there is an arm (like a railroad crossing arm) that blocks access to the facility. Office staff must clear you in or you can get a gate card for your own control and after hours access. There is a $10.00 deposit for the card refundable at time of departure. All roads are gravel and in fair shape. All sites are large, open, on hard packed grass and clearly marked. Not all sites offer full hookups, ours did, 30 amp and all utilities were easily accessible and worked as designed. The site was level with plenty of room around coach, no privacy. Like many other parks in the Maritimes we have been too, there are many seasonal sites. There is a playground for the kids and an on sight arcade. There is a small convenience store in the office. Sprint, Verizon and T Mobile all worked well. Internet service available by office only. As we use a satellite, not sure of TV reception. Park is located about 10 -15 minute drive from Bouctouche along a scenic waterfront road. We stayed 2 nights. Would like to have stayed longer as there are several things to see/explore in the area. We would/will stay here again if in the area. We camped at Bouctouche Baie Chalets et Camping in a Motorhome.

Bayside RV Campground, Oyster Bed Bridge, Prince Edward Island

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Rate of $38.00 per night, plus 15% tax for full service (30 amp) hookups. Previous posts are accurate in their descriptions. Entrance off the main highway to the park is a little rough with the last ½ kilometer being a dirt road. Not a major issue in my opinion. The interior roads are narrow, single lane well packed gravel. Of the 100 plus sites, only about 24 are available for transient campers, the rest are dedicated to seasonal customers. The pads are crushed gravel and built up from the surrounding lot. Our utilities were easy to access and worked as expected, we did not hear any discussion about poor electric. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. The bathrooms and showers are clean, lots of hot water, but not fancy, home built. The facility has a small playground for children and a very clean heated swimming pool surrounded by an attractive patio area with chairs. The stock car track has a private entrance directly from the RV Park and all activity was over before 10:00 PM. on Saturday. As seems to be the custom in Canadian RV parks, many people sit out in the evenings around fires. Both campers and owners are very friendly and quick to engage in conversations. The owners go out of their way to be accommodating and helpful. Made reservations for two nights then intended to move to another area of island, wound up staying 6 nights. We felt it was a good location to base ourselves, less than ½ hour to Charlottetown and most other popular sights we wanted to see. Great owners, live on site and very much want your stay to be a pleasant one. We would stay here again without a doubt. We camped at Bayside RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Sunset Watch Family Campground, Brule Point, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Full hookup 30 amp site $42.00 per night no discount, however stay for six nights and get seventh night free. Not all sites are full hookups, some just water & electric. There is a community dump. This RV Park is located on Brule Point, about a 10 minute drive from Tatamagouche and right on the water. The beach is rocky. The layout for this park is very unconventional and is 50% occupied by seasonal (weekenders) families. Lots of children. The managers are very friendly and try very hard to accommodate. We called for same day (on a Saturday) reservations requesting 2 nights full hookups. They only had tent sites left for Saturday and allowed us to come in and use two tent sites (T-11 & T10) at the rate for one site. Sunday we moved to site 3-3, full hookups. The park has single lane hard packed dirt/gravel roads with all sites being completely of grass and level. Sites are adequate in size to allow for slides and awning use without encroaching on neighbor. There are no trees in the park, no shade, great for satellite reception. Every site has a fire pit, made of the inner liner of a washing machine and most have a picnic table. Lots of fires at night, at least on the weekend. There is a play area for the kids and outdoor games for both adults and children. The park sponsors weekend activities in the club house. Lots of people sitting outside their RV's during the day and evening. Bathrooms are small, very dated but clean, no showers. Both Sprint and Verizon had several bars. We did not use the park WIFI. Wind and bugs not an issue first day, however relatively high wind next few days, could not use awning again until last day. Owner sprays for mosquitos. We intended to stay just two nights but extended and extra 2 nights. This facility has a very homey, family feel, all the patrons are very friendly and welcoming. We will stay here again if opportunity allows us to return to this area. We camped at Sunset Watch Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Camping Juneau Chalets, Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Quebec

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

(From an American perspective) Had reservations for July 1st holiday weekend. Paid $53.00 per night for premium site with full hookups, site # 302 overlooking river, no discount. Arrived in the middle of the night. The staff had left instructions and site number on the door for us. Staff are very friendly and accommodating, clientele not so much. Facility is a combination RV park and cabins. Appears the majority of the sites are occupied by seasonal types. At the time of our stay the park was full. This a very mature park almost completely under a canopy of trees. Cover so thick our satellite antennae could not penetrate, no cable. Both Sprint and Verizon had a few bars. The streets are a combination of paved (main) and gravel/dirt. Many sites are close together, crowed feeling, yet adequate enough to allow for awning and slide out use. Streets are very narrow and tight and access to sites, mostly back-in, challenging. Most sites look somewhat level, we had no problem leveling. Utilities easy to access and functioned as designed, our site had both 30 & 50 amp service. Very family friendly with many assorted activities for children. Small restaurant/snack bar on site by river. Easy access to highway and quick drive, 20 minutes to Quebec City. Did not use or check out showers or WIFI. We would consider returning here if in area. Travel in Quebec for English speaking/reading only folks can have it challenges beyond normal circumstances. We camped at Camping Juneau Chalets in a Motorhome.

Holiday RV Campground, Grass Lake, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived after hours without a reservation, found a full hookup spot, # 99 right at front of campground. Not all spots are full hookup - most do not have sewer or 50 amp service. There is a dump station on site and it appears there is a honey wagon that makes the rounds to dump the sewer for those RV's on extended stay. Do not know if there is an additional charge for this service. We paid $ 42.40 for our stay. Office staff friendly. Short drive off the interstate to the entrance of the park where there is an appealing drive into the park. Guard gate at entrance, not being used during our stay. Campground is at the top of the hill. Campground is very heavily wooded (could/will impede satellite reception) with gravel roads. Sites vary in size throughout park, our site was just adequate in size to allow for the use of slide outs, awnings and allow for outdoor enjoyment. The campground is clean with an appealing appearance. The bathrooms/showers are dated but clean. This park qualifies as a "campground", has the feel of a state park, a great family location. Pool is under construction. About 6 miles to MIS and short drive to other retail outlets. Our stay was short, measured in hours but we would stay here again, hopefully longer next time. Verizon, Sprint and T Mobile signals adequate to make phone calls without dropping. We camped at Holiday RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Interstate RV Park, Davenport, Iowa

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Great overnight stop. Paid $42.00 with Good Sam discount, did not research other options in area for price & location, spur of moment decision. Close to interstate and truck stops for fuel. Roads could use work but not that bad, seen much worse. We arrived after hours without a reservation, helped our self to site 3, up front by office. Appears this section has all the transients; all units left next morning but one. Full hookups, all working. Site was somewhat narrow but adequate for our overnight. Park looks appealing and appears to have majority of fulltime/seasonal residents. Did not use or checkout any of the showers or Wi-Fi. Good Verizon connection. Our spot did have a tree that blocked satellite reception. Met staff in the morning, every one very friendly. We would consider staying here again if in area. We camped at Interstate RV Park in a Motorhome.

Horseshoe Casino RV Park, Council Bluffs, Iowa

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

RV Park at Horseshoe Casino Rate is $40.00 per night, no discounts offered. The RV Park is right on I-80 at the Iowa/Nebraska state line, highway noise not a factor. As others have stated, this is not a conventional RV Park. This is a paved parking lot with water and electric hookups around the perimeter. The sites are numbered and are narrow. There is room for slide outs but not awnings. This environment does not lend itself to outdoor living such as sitting and cooking. Passenger vehicles are parked in the parking lot, not on the camp site, however they are very close by. The electric and water pedestals are modern and easy to access, however are located on the grass about two feet behind the parking curb. Depending on your setup, extensions for both the electrical cord and water may be needed. The public washroom and shower are modern and were clean during our visit. The showers are not gender specific but are individual locked rooms off the hallway by the restrooms. Spacious and modern, it took well over a minute before the hot water was hot, then it got very hot and never ran out during my shower. There is a coin operated laundry in the same building, looked clean with several washers and driers. Check in was a challenge. The check in office is not in the casino or hotel but at the far south end of the building (to the right of the hotel) in a building marked Iowa Gaming Commission. There is a small sign on the door - RV Registration. I would first park in a site you want then walk or drive to the building to register as the parking in this section does not really lend itself to large or towed rigs. All the staff were friendly but not always knowledgeable, the few we talked to were new employees. We stayed here 2 nights. Not a bad spot for overnight parking, although a bit pricey in my opinion for services offered. Area was clean and we felt safe. We would probably stay here again despite the price for overnight. Very convenient to interstate and casino. We camped at Horseshoe Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.

Spruce Lake RV Resort, Estes Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $71.00
Overall Rating:

Rate of $70.75 per night is with Good Sam discount and $5.00 fee for extra adult. This rate is competitive with other parks in the area for full hook-ups and like accommodations. This resort pricing and this is no resort. Roads and pads are mostly dirt with a small patch of grass at each site. Sites are short, but adequate for our 35' MH. We had room to put out the awning and park our tow vehicle and still not be right on top of our neighbor. We were in site #10. Other parks in the area are much tighter. Pool was closed and hot tub is of a residential nature. There is a small playground for the kids. There is a fee to fish in their pond, however at this time it is out of fish, waiting for their delivery. The bathrooms/shower, although dated, were very clean and spacious. Locks on the entrance doors broken, no code required. Park staff friendly and will escort you to your site. After driving around and looking at some of the other parks, we found this park to be about as good as it gets for our needs. We liked the location and openness of this facility. We do not generally use the pool/hot tub, bathroom/showers or need to be entertained by park programs. We are just looking for a relatively clean, level location with full hookups and adequate room to put out our awning and patio items. With the exception of the price, this meets our needs. We will consider this park for future stays - price being the big factor. We camped at Spruce Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park of Estes, Estes Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Rate of $37.38 per night is Passport America rate plus $5.00 extra adult. This rate and below reviews was the reason we selected this park. The RV parks with full hookups in the Estes Park area are all over priced in my opinion. Our site #67 was very short for our 35' motorhome and tow car, had to park perpendicular to the MH with the car and then we were right up on the narrow road. This campground is on a hill with paved narrow roads. Site pads are gravel & dirt with a little grass. The park design is very tight and sites congested. Other reviews echo our opinion and appear accurate. Staff is very friendly and do their best to accommodate. No one else mentioned the water being discolored, a yellow color, odorless. May have been unique to our site. This is a family oriented facility. We had reservations for two nights and decided to stay a 3rd night. We were told we would need to change sites for the 3rd night. We decided to change parks, effort to move 6 spots vs 6 miles is about the same. Moved to Spruce Lake RV, closer to town and more open. Only reason we would stay here again would be because of the discount Passport America discount, good for 2 days. We found the park too congested/tight for our comfort. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park of Estes in a Motorhome.
