Northern Nights RV Campground, Glennallen, Alaska

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of my favorite campgrounds in Alaska. The staff are super-friendly. Sites are nicely separated by trees. Sites have picnic tables and fire rings. There's a pavilion for special events and lots of community space. The campground managers host "dessert nights" M-W-F and she makes a special dessert for all the guests. This fun social gathering really helps facilitate a sense of community where you get to know fellow travelers and exchange travel tips. Great place to stay. We camped at Northern Nights RV Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Bear Creek RV Park, Seward, Alaska

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

This must be used as a tax write-off by the owners. They truly do not care if you stay there or not. I wouldn't say they are rude, just very unfriendly. When I asked if they take Good Sam, the kid at the desk/bar said: "We don't take that anymore." You park out in a field with scattered connections. The office is a dump. Not sure how, but they open it as a bar in the wintertime. The restrooms are clean but they lock them up at 7 pm. We were there to visit the town of Seward and fortunately did not spend a lot of time at the so-called "RV Park." They don't cut the grass that you park your rig on. There are full hook-ups but, if you have to use the dump station, it is pull-thru but the tree limbs are low and the exit is narrow. Won't be staying here again. I would encourage you stay here only as a last resort. We camped at Bear Creek RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beluga Lookout RV Park, Kenai, Alaska

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $90.00
Overall Rating:

Unfortunately we stayed during the high season, which meant we paid a premium price. Most everyone there were Alaska residents there for the dip netting for salmon. I think we were the only ones not there for fishing. Also unfortunate was that it rained the whole time we were there. No fault of the park, of course. If you are there to fish, this is the place you want to be. The park overlooks the Cook Inlet where the Kenai River runs into it. Don't count on seeing any Beluga Whales, as they somewhat imply. You will likely see seals and sea otters. There is a walkway down to the beach and just a block from a historic Russian Orthodox Church. Sites are very close. Neighbor's awning nearly touched our slide. Most are pull-thru sites. We camped at Beluga Lookout RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Homer / Baycrest KOA, Homer, Alaska

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are a bit tight and sewer connection is too far away from other connections. Neighbor's sewer was within our site and ours was about 12 feet from ours. Had to use leveling blocks. Tent campers on the hill just behind our site. Site too short to park 24' TT and truck. Building some new sections. Beautiful views of the inlet and the volcanos. Staff were friendly. Convenient location. Pair of resident eagles. We camped at Homer / Baycrest KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Golden Nugget RV Park, Anchorage, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Not much choice in Anchorage but they don't act like they're the only logical choice. Sites are back-in and a bit tight. Had to use leveling blocks. Very tight space for parking truck. Restrooms are clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Some long-term residents. Some junky sites. Stayed here twice. We drove by the other RV park in town and it was really bad. If we come to Anchorage again, we'll stay at Golden Nugget. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Cantwell RV Park, Cantwell, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly staff. Nice gift shop. They clean the showers after each use. One mile from nice view of the mountain so it's easy to drive out to take pictures. The only complaint I have is the surface material. It is gravel with such inconsistent sized rocks it makes it hard to walk on or level your rig. The rocks vary from very small pea-size to larger than fist-size. Very hard to walk on without twisting your ankle. Be careful. Short sites. May have to park tow vehicle in overflow. Poor layout, as the dump station is right next to the office, so you have to exit the park and come back in to dump. Blocks entrance for other rigs entering campground. Our site was not long enough for our 24'TT plus truck. Had to park truck in overflow lot. We camped at Cantwell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Talkeetna Camper Park, Talkeetna, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

The electric outlet is upside-down so you cannot use your surge protector. Sites are short and fairly close together. This park sits LITERALLY right next to active train tracks. Not only do you hear the frequent sounding of the train horn, but you also feel the vibration. Shower costs $2 for 4 minutes. We camped at Talkeetna Camper Park in a Travel Trailer.

Baby Nugget RV Park, Watson Lake, Yukon

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Great showers. Wide spaces. Not exactly level, but "do-able" with leveling blocks. Huge store and nice cafe. Looks like they used to have some other amenities (gold panning) that they've closed. Open-area RV wash. We camped at Baby Nugget RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Northern Lights RV Park, Dawson Creek, British Columbia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Cleanest restrooms/showers I've encountered. I believe they clean after each use. Shoes are not allowed in the shower/restroom building. They were a bit heavy-handed on that rule, but it makes for a very clean floor. The park was very nice and the office staff were friendly and helpful. We camped at Northern Lights RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Route 66 RV Park, Edgewood, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Half the park are long-term residents. We stayed 3 nights but we were put on the long-term side. Most sites were wide enough but ours was within 2 feet of neighbors. We literally had to step over their sewer hose when exiting our rig. (Most were wider.)

All sites required leveling blocks.

Water tasted like Alka-SeltzER so bring bottled water!

Costs $4 to use the shower house.

Nice, friendly staff. We camped at Route 66 RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
