Mountain Gate RV Park, Redding, California

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This was the nicest overall park I have stayed in since I began my life as a full-time RVer. It is a lovely park set among many oak and other kinds of trees with concrete slabs and grass dividing sites. The bathrooms are the nicest and cleanest I have been in. Each time I went in to shower, It looked as if everything had just been cleaned to include the shower curtains. A maintenance person even checked the bathroom at 8:30 at night to make sure it was in good shape at the end of the day for those showering later in the evening. The woman who checked me in was a delight. I wish we were allowed to use names when people are especially nice when we write these reviews, but we are not. The day I was leaving, the owner of the park stopped by and chatted with me. He could not have been nicer or seemingly more concerned about his park. The location is wonderful, just five minutes from a small town located off the next exit from I5, and Redding is just 10 minutes away. You are within short driving distance for day trips to Shasta dam, the lakes, Burney Falls and several other natural wonders in the Shasta mountain area. The park is so nice and well-kept, I am thinking of spending at least a month there as I make my way back north in the spring. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Redwoods RV Resort, Crescent City, California

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The personnel here are lovely people. The park itself is amazing with many huge, photo-worthy Redwood stumps with second growth throughout the park, as well as 100-year-old Redwood trees. Sites are gravel and well maintained, as is the entire park. About half the sites are nestled entirely under the trees; some out in the open; others with some shade. But be aware: I parked under trees, and heavy rain dropped dead pine needles and sap that stained my motorhome and are very difficult to clean. The showers were old but very clean with plenty of hot water if you shower at unusual times. Laundry is not good with 2 very old machines; TV reception is marginal; Wi-Fi awful! A nice, large playground gym set for kids is located in the middle of the park. This is a great location in which to rest and/or visit famous Redwood groves along old scenic highway along 101, and along 199 north, or take a trip to the beach. I would definitely stay there again, especially after labor day. We camped at The Redwoods RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very difficult to see turn-in to Redwoods Resort on Hwy. 101, approaching both from north and south. It is 7 easy miles to Crescent City for shopping. Try the Ling Cod fish and chips at Fisherman's restaurant south end of town. Harold's Computer repair at north edge of Crescent City on 101 was a Godsend!

Jack's Landing RV Resort, Grants Pass, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park is beautifully manicured with grass between each site and lovely foliage. However, it is located right next to I-5, and the very loud and constant drone of traffic is horrific, especially with windows open. I found both showers dirty the next day, with hair all over the shower floors. I left. A woman answered the office phone when I called about the schedule of housekeeping. In a most unfriendly voice, I was told they don't come every day but would be there around noon on this day. A very different attitude from the warm and caring man who checked me in the day before. I would not stay here again only because a park this size should clean its restrooms daily, and office staff should care if they are found dirty. There is a state park just south of Grants Pass. We camped at Jack's Landing RV Resort in a Motorhome.
