Ghost Mountain Ranch, Pollock Pines, California

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed on one of those time share free stay for listening to a sales pitch deals. Colorado River Adventures is the Main Name. We were lied to at every turn! The $300 gas card we were promised was some gas refund scam. To qualify you have to by $75 of Shell gas per month BUT you can't buy it the 4th month AND submit your refund request in time! The other items were trash. Surprisingly, you think that they would place the people that they were trying to sell memberships to in some of the best spots. Our spot was so unlevel and difficult to get into that we knew right away we would never buy. The sites are also right on top of each other. We couldn't even put our awning out. We were told on the phone, when setting up our visit, that we could stay the whole week. When we arrived were were told, 3 days! No, there was no way to extend / use our 'free days' or anything else. All that being said, the social events at the campsite were wonderful! They have plenty of acreage. If they doubled the size of the current camp sites, it would be worth considering! But until then, stay away! We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.

Redwoods River Resort, Leggett, California

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We loved staying at Redwood river resort. It is a smaller campground, but still had some nice events. Ice Cream social was very nice. The sites are large. The trek down the 300 yard trail to the Eel river is STEEP, but worth it. You can swim/float, walk over to a deep swimming hole with a rope swing. We booked again. The biggest PLUS of this location is that you are camping IN THE REDWOODS. It may be a bit pricey, but there is nowhere else you are going to do this. The nearby KOA in Benbow is on a flat plain with no shade! I didn't hook up my TV, so I don't know/care if it worked. Wood prices were reasonable and the staff was great. We camped at Redwoods River Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Garberville is north of the site. The trip through the Avenue of the Giants is, imho, the number one place for Redwoods in CA. As someone esle noted, your GPS won't find this place. It is ACROSS THE STREET from Confusion Hill.
