Alamosa KOA, Alamosa, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Just an overnight stay. Nice campground with friendly and helpful staff. There were some holes driving through to our site but the site itself was relatively deep gravel. Long level sites. Many were buddy sites but we were assigned the back row which was not a buddy site. We noted that the office staff was letting other campers use their landline phone and think it was because of cell tower problems. I suspect that because of the forest fire, cell signal was disrupted because neither of our hotspots, nor our cell phones (Verizon) were able to get a signal. Good overnight stop however. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Motorhome.

Bighorn Park, Coaldale, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 5 days, during the week. Very nice campground right on the river. Long level sites. Nice swimming pool. Friendly staff. Our site was the row closest to the road and on some days the road noise was significant. Loved the campground but because of the road probably wouldn't stay again. We camped at Bighorn Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

This was an overnight stay. Seemed expensive but realize that is often the case with KOA. Our site was long enough that we didn't need to unhook. The pool looked nice although we didn't use it. We camped at Green River KOA in a Motorhome.

Beaver KOA, Beaver, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 10 days, mainly to take a break from travel, and to visit Bryce Canyon. The sites were bigger than many KOA campgrounds. Many of the sites had trees for shade but ours did not. The shade would have helped in the hot weather. The pool was refreshing. Staff was friendly. ATV trail right outside campground fence was used often. This would be a great overnight and, other than limited grocery shopping, wasn't bad for a longer stay. We camped at Beaver KOA in a Motorhome.

Leeds RV Park & Motel, Leeds, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We were in a long pull thru site with a concrete patio and shade trees. We really appreciated the shade in the hot weather. The rules indicated we should not park on the concrete but the trees were close enough that it was impossible to stay off the concrete and not hit a tree. Very limited cable channels without getting a box. We camped at Leeds RV Park & Motel in a Motorhome.

Wahweap RV and Campground, Page, Arizona

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 5 days in a pull thru site. Our door side had some bushes and a picnic table making it feel relatively spacious but the driver side felt too close to the truck campers assigned to that site. When making the reservation, I requested a pull thru but they said they couldn't guarantee that so I didn't know if we would be assigned a back in or pull thru until we actually checked in. Fortunately there would have been enough room to unhook without being in someone's way. We were so close to the state line that anything that automatically updated time kept switching between MDT (Utah) and MST (Arizona.) The campground seemed more associated with the marina than the resort. We camped at Wahweap RV and Campground in a Motorhome.

Goulding's Lodge & Campground, Oljato-Monument Valley, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

Our motorhome is 36 feet and we paid extra for a big rig site so we could hook our tow car the night before leaving. The site was very unlevel and not long enough for the tow car. We needed to unhook before pulling into the site. Unfortunately, the campground does not have a convenient area to hook and unhook tow cars. When checking in, the person at the desk rattled off all the info but was not particularly receptive to questions. The best thing about the campground was the solitude and that it was surrounded by beautiful red rocks. However, because of the inconveniences, I would not stay here again. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Motorhome.

Sundance RV Park, Cortez, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground right on Main Street of Cortez. Despite the location, there was very little road noise. The sites were good sized and shaded. We had grass and a picnic table on our site. Near the dumpster were containers for most recycling items. We camped at Sundance RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bluffview RV Park (formerly Mom and Pops RV Park), Farmington, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Seemed to be mostly full-time residents with a few overnight sites. The park itself was quiet but despite a 35 mph speed limit, the road noise was disturbing. The site itself was level with room for motorhome and tow car. No picnic table at the site. The camp host was helpful and said the owners are working to upgrade the CG and hope to put in a noise barrier wall. We camped at Bluffview RV Park (formerly Mom and Pops RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Albuquerque North / Bernalillo KOA, Bernalillo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Our rate reflects KOA, plus weekly discount. We stayed for two weeks and even though the sites were relatively close together, the tree on our site made it feel more private. There was a little patch of artificial grass that was nicer than the typical gravel campgrounds in the southwest. There was a nice pool with a convertible overnight cover that, when raised off the pool in the morning, shaded it during the day. We are full-time so this was a place to catch up on orders and mail delivery. The office was very good at letting us know when packages arrived. One drawback was the road noise since the highway was relatively close. However, the closeness of the highway made it easy to get anywhere within the area. We camped at Albuquerque North / Bernalillo KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Sandia Peak Tramway was approximately 14 miles from the campground. We enjoyed the ride as well as the hiking trails at the top. We were in the area long enough to explore and found the "Musical Highway" east of Albuquerque on Route 333 (part of the old Route 66 system) between mile markers 4 and 5, near exit 170.

Grants / Cibola Sands KOA, Grants, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Because we were staying for a week, we were given one of the 2 double sites in the campground which was appreciated. Having that extra room made us feel less crowded than many other places we have stayed. Hook ups were good and the sites were level. We camped at Grants / Cibola Sands KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The walking trail loop behind the park is a nice introduction to the area with signs telling about some of the different landmarks. We stayed here to visit the Very Large Array but because of the road layouts it was 2 1/2 hours one way. Worthwhile trip but if planning again, I would probably use a different city for a base. The drive through El Malpais to get there was enjoyable however. El Morro was a good place to spend some time.

Sun Valley RV Resort (formerly Root 66 RV Park), Sun Valley, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the 50amp pull-thru section which was furthest from the highway so least amount of road noise. Behind our site was the remains of a building having been knocked down which seemed a little hazardous. It did appear they were making changes to update the park. We camped at Sun Valley RV Resort (formerly Root 66 RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Railside RV Ranch, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We were here for a week, mainly to visit the Grand Canyon south rim. Some of the sites had trees and ours did. There was a good picnic table and the hookups were well placed. The tracks for the Grand Canyon Railroad and another train were next to the campground. Although the GC train came back by 6 p.m., some nights we still heard the other train after midnight. Fortunately it didn't need to blow the whistle for a crossing so it didn't keep us up. We would return to this campground if we were in the area. We camped at Railside RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Grand Canyon south rim was very busy by mid-day necessitating many people parking off-site and taking a shuttle to the visitor's center. When we were there the drive to the west was detoured and the end closed. The drive to the east was more peaceful. Sunset Crater and Wupatki Ruins loop was a nice drive. The Oak Canyon, Sedona, Montezuma Castle was another good day drive. Follow the website directions. Our GPS tried to take us down the wrong road to the campground.

Las Vegas KOA at Sam's Town, Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Sites were very close together. The hookup pedestal was shared with the camper next to us and their sewer hose was under our fresh water faucet. Fortunately they did not unhook while we were there so it wasn't a problem but it made us uncomfortable to have that type setup. This was our first visit to Vegas so we got to see the Sam's Town Casino as well as drive the Strip but we also used the location to visit Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, and Valley of Fire. We camped at Las Vegas KOA at Sam's Town in a Motorhome.
