Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - Borrego Palm Canyon Campground, Borrego Springs, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We love this park. The sites are big with easy access. Our site was long enough for our 5th wheel and truck and a visitor. (We did unhook to play tourist.) Each site has a big fire ring with a hinged heavy-duty grate where one could cook if desired. Each site has a picnic table. There are desert bushes between sites that give privacy. It is quiet. It is near Borrego Springs. One must drive around to see the sculptures in the desert. If there has been rain, the wildflowers are spectacular. Last year we saw the "super bloom." This year there were virtually no flowers, but the desert's starkness is soothing. There is a market in nearby Borrego Springs if needed. We camped at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Paso Robles RV Ranch, Paso Robles, California

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly manager or owner. Spaces pretty narrow but very long with nice trees. Full hookups. Pull through. Picnic table. Very clean and neat park. Restrooms large and immaculate though not fancy. Showers spacious with bench and table. Near Cambria. There is a pool, but we did not check it out. Would definitely stay here again. I recommend this park. We camped at Paso Robles RV Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.

Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve, Santee, California

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

The showers are clean with great hot water, but there is nowhere to get dressed. These are the worst showers we have seen because of that. There seem to be a lot of long term families. It seems to be great for kids. It is not so good for older people because of so many noisy kids. Kids seem to be having a blast, so that is nice for families. Staff are super friendly. Pool is not heated. Can rent volleyball and horseshoes. Nice little store with cookies, candy, chips and ice cream. Our site was huge with a lot of space from our neighbors and plenty long for our 5th wheel and truck. Wifi is the best we have experienced at any rv park. Cable TV picture quality is poor. Lakes are picturesque. Lots of kids fishing, but never saw any fish. We camped at Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve in a Fifth Wheel.

The Fair Park RV - Alameda County Fairgrounds, Pleasanton, California

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Ugly parking space for an RV, with full hookups. No view. Close to neighbors. If you want a pull through, what they give you is 2 sites. This is so not worth the price but it is basically the only place around, so take it or leave it. I think it was fairly level. We camped at The Fair Park RV - Alameda County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Premier RV Resort of Salem Oregon, Salem, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Lots and lots of pull-through sites, but they are not long enough. Our truck stuck out in the road. Very busy highway for pulling out of park. There is a small amount of daytime guest parking which, in our case, was convenient. Really nice showers. Wifi for email only. Very close to neighbors. We kept our blinds closed because, if we opened them, all we could see was our neighbor's RV. We camped at Premier RV Resort of Salem Oregon in a Fifth Wheel.

Premier RV Resort of Lincoln City Oregon, Lincoln City, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Very tight spaces. They have only 7 pull-through sites. We had a pull through and there was not really room for our tow vehicle. The restrooms are very nice with nice showers. The best thing going for this park is that it serves as a base to visit the Oregon coast. It is expensive. There is no pool (we did not care about the pool). We kept our blinds closed because the only view was a close-up of our neighbor's RV. Wifi only for checking email. We camped at Premier RV Resort of Lincoln City Oregon in a Fifth Wheel.

Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park, Ashland, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

One of our favorite places on a recent trip. Beautiful, spread-out park with rolling hills and a lake. Does not feel like a parking lot for RVs, like private parks. There is a park manager on site. The restrooms are bare bones, but clean and free.

Try to get site 22 as there is a view of the lake. Site 21 has an unobstructed view of the lake but might be a little tighter for a long rig. We camped at Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Bakersfield River Run RV Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a good stopover on the way south to Orange County because it is close to LA, which allows for getting through LA early before the worst traffic. It is clean and the sites are pretty level. There is room for an easy pull in and pull out. We booked a pull-through and it was level enough (front to back) that we did not have to unhitch, making it easy for a quick getaway in the morning. I recommend this park for the reasons I just stated. We camped at Bakersfield River Run RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Frm Oregon, cross at The Dalles (hwy 197), go w on 14. Other bridges narrow, and there is a low clearance w of the prk. W on 14 from 197, RV GPS wanted us to go around because of a low clearance tunnel. Big rigs go through. Tunnel is marked with the at-the-edge height. Our 5th wheel is only 12'8". Don't bother calling the Wash DOT 'cause they told me the tunnel was 12'. I THINK it was 12' 10" at the very edge, so taller in the middle, but not sure.

Grande Hot Springs Resort (formerly Eagles Hot Lake RV Park), La Grande, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Spread out with great views. Neighbors not close. Good grounds to walk around. Very small pool. There is a small town one can visit, but there is no reason to do so unless you must. Sites big and pretty level. Every site is a very long pull through with a nice lawn. We camped at Grande Hot Springs Resort (formerly Eagles Hot Lake RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Mammoth Mountain RV Park, Mammoth Lakes, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

They lend movies which is a nice feature. Our site was not exactly a pull-through, but a kind of pull in/out at the edge of a road. Because we wanted an easy access site (po0r "backer-inners"), the site was not among the trees and was not a pretty site. The staff are very nice.
