Shadrack Campground, Bristol, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Pretty much nothing but good things to say about this RV campground. Definitely not a ' trailer park' with seasonal- permanent occupants. My wife ran her own cleaning business for many years and she had nothing but compliments about the facilities being about the cleanest and most pleasant in our some 6000 miles of RVing.

Staff were genuinely friendly and congenial. Despite being along side a double major roadway, the road noise was at a minimum overnight as the campground is down in a hollow below the roadway. Very good Wi-Fi, a little broken up at times bu at least it worked compared to many campgrounds where the promised Wi-Fi really was non- existant. Full signal bars for Tracfone reception despite Verizon being the stronger signal in this part of the US.

Quiet, clean and great price either with discounts or at full price. just mind out for race car season and similar events- could get a little crowded, noisy and no discounts. We camped at Shadrack Campground in a Motorhome.

Hilltop Campground, Robbinston, Maine

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived at Hilltop on Sat. Oct 1.There were only about six or so sites for transients and the rest of the 84 sites were taken up by trailers parked there permanently serving as weekend/vacation homes albeit most being well kept with clean, tidy surroundings. As we were settling in to our site we noticed that people were getting ready to party all around us. People were moving about with drinks in hand in golf carts and on foot with little respect for the privacy of those who were not part of the growing ' celebrations'. The parties grew louder and extremely loud music started in the close by hall until well past quiet hour. The next morning we mentioned the noise to management (owner) and the reply was 'it's the end of the season .....'. We decided to stay another day because most of the 'seasonal' folks were packing up and closing their trailers, mobiles, etc. for the winter and we did get a quiet night on Sunday night. Probably a place to avoid on weekend nights if you want some privacy and quiet, as the few transient sites are basically pull throughs and are in the middle of the seasonal back- in sites..... Not really the type of RV Park where you can tuck into a quiet corner for a night or two and enjoy some privacy. All those potential spots were "seasonally" occupied similar to many other RV Parks we have visited that tend to have a majority of similar occupants. Facilities all worked well but you had to go up to the office to get adequate Wi-Fi. Good cell reception for AT&T. Nice location over looking the coastal islands and waterways near the Canada - US border. We camped at Hilltop Campground in a Motorhome.

Stoney Creek Resort, Greenville, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for two nights, a Thursday and Friday. Lots of 'liveaboards' and seasonal RV occupation which results in few choices for those travelling through looking for a spot for a night or two. Party erupted right next to us on the Friday night and despite our complaints to the office, basically went on till well after quiet time.

Not a place we would return to; just unpleasant with lots of trailer 'stuff' left here and there when no one occupying the sites. Water sites seemed somewhat permanently occupied with sections gated off with 'No Trespassing' signs on the fencing despite the office 'looking over the sites available' and telling us 'well, there's no spots open on the water at the moment' as if RVs came and went on a daily basis on the water sites.

Just not what their ad made it look like. Just bypass this one until things improve, but I guess their money comes from semi or permanent site occupants. We camped at Stoney Creek Resort in a Motorhome.
