Twin Coves Park, Flower Mound, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This park is located on the north side of Lake Grapevine. It just opened in July 2017. Very clean park, in fact you probably cannot walk more than 20 yards without passing a trash bin. Very level cement sites. Nicely situated with a number of sites affording an unobstructed view of the water. Most sites (if not all) are open for good satellite reception (no cable). Each site has a table, fire ring and separate grill. Did not give it a 10 only because there were no laundry facilities otherwise would stay here again. We camped at Twin Coves Park in a Motorhome.

Shore Hills Campground and RV Park, Boothbay, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Shore Hills is a very nice campground with good big rig access. This is the second time we have stayed in the Booth Bay area and we found this campground well situated for points east of Wiscasset. If you go west on a regular basis you can get caught up in traffic going into Wiscasset. We stayed in the section closer to the road but found very little noise from the highway at night. There are a number of sites with a raised deck and picnic table. We parked a little too close to the deck as I thought it would be convenient to step out right onto the deck. What I did not allow for was the slide, which ended up taking close to a third of the deck space. The utilities are well located and there is a garbage bin on each site. Our site was a pull through with plenty of room for a tow. Did not really use the wifi as we use an ATT hot spot which worked well. This area is satellite friendly but we ended up using the cable which is very good. Had an initial problem with the cable connection as it was missing the male end. A visit to the office immediately rectified the problem. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

As mentioned this campground is well suited for visits east of Wiscasset. Besides Booth Bay try Owl's Head where there is a great Classic Car and Aeronautical Museum and a nice restaurant called the Pearl for lunch in Rockland. There is also Camden which is well worth the hour's drive. Damariscotta is a nice town for lunch on your way to or back from Pemaquid Point Lighthouse.

Narrows Too Camping Resort - Thousand Trails, Trenton, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

We checked in after closing but everything was waiting for us at the office. Stayed in a Premium II site which appears to be the fourth most expensive site. Sites were very wide and level, with grass and new fire rings with grills. These sites are head-in sites. It seems that the vast majority of sites are satellite friendly. Visited the office the next morning and was greeted by a very pleasant and accommodating staff. Only minor complaint is it looks like most hook ups are up hill (the sewer pipe was about 10 inches above ground so lots of hose lifting) which is why I gave the site only four stars. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Narrows Too Camping Resort - Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Camp is well situated for Acadia National Park and surroundings. The Carriage trails are a must for cyclists and hikers alike. Bar Harbor is about 20 - 25 minutes but be sure to take alternative route 3 while construction is underway this summer on Route 3. Ellsworth is about a 15 minute drive with Walmart, Home Depot and a variety of grocery stores. Also as an alternative to Acadia the campground is about 45 minutes from the Schoodic Peninsula. Great hiking, bicycle trails and ocean views.

Shenandoah Crossing Resort, Gordonsville, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $77.00
Overall Rating:

Very high end facility with good services except for the Wifi. Virtually non existent which should not be the case for the price. This is a membership resort; however, anyone paying a membership should expect better Wifi.

Sites are spacious and include a grill. Quite area well out in the country, but only a 20 - 30 minute drive to Charlottesville. We camped at Shenandoah Crossing Resort in a Motorhome.

Wytheville KOA, Wytheville, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly staff. Lots ranged from spacious to very close. Sites are gravel and feature a fire ring. Great site for a quick overnight stop where sewer not required.

Owner noticed a problem emanating from our coach. Knocked on the door to point it out and tried to see if he could fix it. (Leaking HW pressure valve) Came back with a new one but unfortunately it was not the correct size.

Large games area with food and a bowling alley. We camped at Wytheville KOA in a Motorhome.
