Barstow / Calico KOA, Yermo, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

A full and smelly dog park poo disposal can. Needs to be emptied more often. The dog park is a sandy fenced area with no water, and a shaded bench. Great space behind park to let dogs run off lease. We showed up off season to a nearly empty park and was assigned a space with no shade 99*. Asked for a shaded space so our dogs could be tied outside. She pleasantly moved us to a nice space. Asked for pool hours but was told it wasn't open! When it's 99* out the pool should be opened no matter the month. It was April! We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Needles Marina Park, Needles, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

One of the few parks that have a year round heated pool and hot tub, which I used often and a good way to meet residents. Adjacent golf course is beautiful and reasonably price. For short timers you are assigned a spot on a huge gravel parking lot. No trees. No tables. The laundry was clean but no carts. They say there is a dog park. It's a beautiful fenced area with a very low fence and no gate. I see some residents with theirs dogs off lease but under control or playing in the water. Right on the river with a huge grassy area and small sandy beaches. A golfers paradise. Only antenna TV, but was better than most cable. Had to pay for wi-fi. The guest wi-fi didn't exist. Sites were level. We camped at Needles Marina Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to go to Oatman. It's about a 20 minute drive. A real tourist trap but so fun with donkeys roaming the streets, crafts, gun fight show and more. Very fun! Also went to Laughlin to check out tha casino scene. Had lunch at Bubba Gumps on an outdoor patio right on the river! Also discovered a covey of golf courses throughout the area.

Fort Beale RV Park, Kingman, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Not for dogs. Small fenced dirt patch for poop and pee. Did direct us to the city dog park that was very nice and not too far from us. It had a small dog (under 30 lbs.) and large dog park. Both huge with benches and water. Also this park slants downward so it was hard to level. Nice pool. Friendly. Close to food. We camped at Fort Beale RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Viewpoint RV & Golf Resort (55+ park), Mesa, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Great for dogs!! Two huge football field size grassy areas. The one with new trees is not fenced and must be on leash. Second site, also huge, can be off leash if you can control. Then a big fenced area with benches, trees, grass for off leash. All three areas provide poop bags.

The laundry was a hassle. The machines take a card that u buy for $5, $10 or $20 plus a $3 fee for the card. I asked the gals if I could pay them for the use of their card as we were leaving the next day.

When we arrived an employee at the toll booth told us our site number and said goodbye--no map, no activities calendar, no list of amenities. We were referred to members services, which is closed on weekend, and we were only staying for the weekend. Caters to full-time residents. Those of us RVers were parked on the perimeter of the park, close to the noisy road.

Very expensive for little service. Wouldn't stay here again. Short term is given the sites on the perimeter next to a busy road. The noise didn't bother us but it was noticeable. We camped at Viewpoint RV & Golf Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.
