Western Hills Campground, Rawlins, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We ran out of time to get to our desired location, called and they had an electric only site for us. They have full hook-ups, with or without cable TV as well. Pull thru sites, and they spaced us every other one as folks came in, leaving good room between each rig. Decent wifi. Right off of I-80. One thing to be aware of; this part of Wyoming is a giant wind tunnel, and 40 mph winds are nearly constant. They strongly advise not leaving your awning out. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Colter Bay Village RV Park -- Full Hookups (Concessionaire Operated) , Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

This is a full hookup site in the heart of Grand Teton NP, price reflects that. With our access pass it was $59 per night, not half price. Sites are on a terraced hill and erosion can make them difficult to level on. But they are big enough pull-thrus for a good size RV and toad. Short distance away is a "village" with shops, food and wifi. Ate at the Chuckwagon restaurant; decent food, but dinner for two was $70. We camped at Colter Bay Village RV Park -- Full Hookups (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Buffalo Crossing RV Park, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Better than average parking lot with full hook-ups. Very convenient location, literally backs up to Yellowstone, short drive to the West entrance. In the town, walking distance to everything. We camped at Buffalo Crossing RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Did not get to spend much time in this campground due to delays, but easy to pull in (c-shaped pull-throughs), night sky was glorious. No hook-ups, typical of NP campgrounds, but did not miss them. If you are not hard sided, use the bear boxes. We saw a bison in camp! We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

This is near Lake Yellowstone, a quick drive to Lake Yellowstone Hotel (you can actually walk two miles along the lake). Near to Fishing Bridge where there is a dump station, laundry and pay showers but without all the crowds of Fishing Bridge.

Absaroka Bay RV Park, Cody, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

One of the better parking lots off the highway to spend the night. Tight spots, tiny grass between. Sprinklers run every night, and you are advised not to leave your awning out. Great customer service, helped us with propane right away. We camped at Absaroka Bay RV Park in a Motorhome.

Devils Tower Nat'l Monument / Belle Fourche Campground, Devils Tower, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a self-check in campground. But gorgeous view of Devil's Tower. Spacious, c-shaped pull-through sites along the road, our 33 ft. fit OK, not sure a big rig would. Really quiet, partially shaded. We camped at Devils Tower Nat'l Monument / Belle Fourche Campground in a Motorhome.

Circle 10 Campground, Philip, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We came in at 6pm. Sign at office said they would be back at 5:30, but no one was there. No one was there when we left at 10 the next morning. The office was in the campstore, which was also not open all that time. Just a gravel parking lot, sites seemed to run into each other. Couldn't tell if it was reserved, if it was one site or two, etc.

No idea about the bathrooms, but if they were anything like the rest of the facilities they probably aren't worth trying. Next time, we will stay in the dispersed camping in Buffalo Gap or in Wall, rather than stop here. We camped at Circle 10 Campground in a Motorhome.

Beaver Lake Campground, Custer, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We paid $46 for the first couple days as that was on season. The last two days we were off season and paid somewhat less. Beautiful, well kept grounds, sites are mostly level where we stayed (by the office). We had great WiFi as well: but no streaming video, appears to be blocked. Wifi may not be strong, or even available, elsewhere in the park. They do have free cable TV, so plan accordingly.

Friendly and helpful staff, that assisted with backing us in. Laundry was great; one of the machines was out of order but was fixed by the next day. We saw several examples of the staff hopping right on to repairs, which probably explains why it is so well maintained. Bathrooms, showers and laundry were very clean. Only aluminum recycling. At the site we had (back in) the utilities were near the front so we had to use 30 ft of sewer hose. I carry a 50 ft fresh water hose, so no problem there.

The rental car is a great convenience, it is a 2009 Dodge Caravan in pretty good shape. Other than being a bit bigger than our regular cars, it performed well going through Custer State Park, up the Iron Mountain Road to Mt. Rushmore, down to Hot Springs, etc. An annual pass to Mt. Rushmore and Custer SP is included and saves you $11 at Rushmore and $20 at Custer.

They have a 10% discount for Good Sam members, seniors 65 & over, FMCA members, or persons with an active or retired Military ID. All in all, there might be better campgrounds in this area, but we will definitely make this one our first choice whenever we come back to the Black Hills. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Elk Point City Park and Campground, Elk Point, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Grass area, but we were able to level easily. Shower house was just OK. Trash at the park shelters, and cardboard recydling only. Easy access from the I-29, but surprisingly quiet. Next to a sports field so might have to deal with noise and lights on some weekends, but the Friday before Labor Day nothing was going on. This a city park, so there is a nice playground for the kids. A few monthly parkers, but $10 for electric and sewer is a steal. No dump station, but that wasn't a problem for us. We camped at Elk Point City Park and Campground in a Motorhome.
