Mt. Lassen / Shingletown KOA, Shingletown, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

This is second time we have stayed here, a week each time. Another RV park high on our list. The management is exceptional but regrettably is retiring and leaving the state. The setting in the woods is beautiful. The dog run is the best we have ever seen. There are agility obstacles to entertain the pups and the run is set at the back end of the park so as not to disturb guests. Pick-up bags are available. There are walking trails in the rear and front of the park. This is a mixed use park with tenting and cabins. The office includes a small general grocery store as well as a gift shop and firewood can be purchased on site.

We were in a deluxe site that included a propane BBQ, privacy fencing and lovely patio table with seating for six. We camped at Mt. Lassen / Shingletown KOA in a Travel Trailer.

JGW RV Park, Redding, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

One of our very favorite RV Resorts. We stayed in a deluxe site with a view of the Sacramento River. A discount is offered if paying by cash, no checks. We were told however that since we were staying three days they would take a check. I didn't travel with my checkbook but will next time. So peaceful! Friendly staff. We used the on site laundry facilities. It closes at 5:00 p.m. so last load has to be in by 3:30 p.m. WiFi didn't reach our site but the view made up for it. This will be our first overnight stop whenever we head north on I-5 and our last when we head home. Large dog run, dirt, but our German Shorthaired Pointer enjoyed the off-leash freedom. Pick-up bags are available just outside the run if you forget to bring some along. We camped at JGW RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We visited the Sundial Bridge in Redding, kayaked in Whiskeytown Lake, grocery shopped in Redding, and shopped at Headwaters Kayak, Costco, and purchased an Australian Akubra hat in Anderson. Otherwise, we just enjoyed soaking in the view from camp, watching Dory's float down river.
