Solitude Pointe, Cleveland, South Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Everything was great. When we arrived, we were guided into our site, which I was very thankful for. Only a month into full-time RVing, I am not the best person to guide my husband into spots. While it was a little tight to get in, we had plenty of room for trailer, vehicle, picnic table and an area for chairs and tables. Sadly, our timing was bad, as we were there when the wildfires were going crazy in North Carolina. Control fires were staged near us, and with a cold front expected, winds were due to shift. For the worse. So we put the home on the road and headed south. If we go back that way, we will definitely stay there again. We camped at Solitude Pointe in a Travel Trailer.

Kentucky Horse Park Campground, Lexington, Kentucky

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

The setting is beautiful and quiet. Our space was level and easy to get in and out. It was not crowded when we were there, so we had plenty of privacy. The spaces are well arranged and there is a good distance between them. Would definitely stay there again if in the area. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Gatlinburg East / Smoky Mountain KOA, Cosby, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

We have just begun full time RVing so have little knowledge about the wide variety of places we could stay and the amenities or lack of them. Before staying here, we stayed at two pretty awful places, so we felt like we arrived at Shangrila when we got there. After the first day, I think we did. Everything was immaculate. The bath house provides about 10-12 private rooms with toilet, sink and shower. Laundry was clean, nice updated washers and dryers. Spaces were level and the staff was very helpful guiding us into our spot. All hookups worked well. Internet was fine and cable TV was also good. The staff was always there, very helpful and friendly. Spaces are a little tight, but enough room for your rig, tow vehicle, picnic table, chairs and fire pit. Would definitely go back. As we were leaving, the owner came running out of the office, whistling and hollering to get our attention. We thought something was wrong...he just wanted to say goodbye and thanks for staying with them. Nice! We camped at Gatlinburg East / Smoky Mountain KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to verify your route to the interstate when leaving. Google Maps took us waaaaay wrong. Ended up on a mountain with crazy switchbacks and ran out of pavement. Told you we just began. Thankfully someone clued us in to the gravel road conditions ahead of us and we forged ahead, albeit with white knuckles. Even the dog was tuned in and watched the whole way, finally settling in when we hit the interstate.
