Lagoons has been our home away from home for the last ten years allowing us to get away from the cold, snowy winter weather in the Mid-US. We spend about three months here each year and really enjoy the casual hometown feel of Rockport. It is a small, not-too-touristy town with a beautiful gulf-front beach, good fishing, plenty of restraunts, and nearby attractions including golf courses and numerous big-city entertainment venues in Corpus Christi about a half hour away. Lagoons RV park is conveniently located to most everything, is well maintained, has lots of trees and grass with all-paved roads and RV sites (which can be very important when staying near a costal area with blowing dust and sandy soil), excellent guest facilities including a large indoor pool, meeting hall with stage, hobby rooms, pool tables, library, laundry and even a snack bar.
Numerous performance shows, dances, special breakfast and dinner events, and a variety other kinds of social activities fill the winter schedule. It is always great to return each year and see familiar faces and renew close friendships made over the last decade. Populating the park are a variety of full-time residents, extended stay visitors (like us), weekly vacationers and campers who just happen by for a night or two, with children being rather rare in comparison to most of the rest of us who are retirees. The park has ample storage area for extra boat and utility trailers, special pet-friendly walking areas and extra parking spaces when necessary.
The park offers a few efficiency cottages for overnight and weekly rental, with reservations best being made weeks (or months) in advance because they are very popular. We leave our RV at Lagoons year-round and don't attempt to haul it around any more - we finally found our winter shangri-la, and figure why look anywhere else. Rockport is a low-crime area with a sea-shore atmosphere (reminds me a lot of the Florida Keys about 50 years ago), and (more) We camped at Lagoons RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
