Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA, Holbrook, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This was a gravel-covered parking lot with pull-through sites delineated by the placement of the service poles. For us, the gravel was a welcome alternative to the desert ground cover and the campground worked well for a base from which to investigate the nearby Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. All services worked as expected, WIFI was iffy but Verizon was fine. Limited shade, but hey - it's in the Arizona desert. Great pool. Cowboy grill and breakfast on site. Lovely people and seamless registration. Interior roads gravel and wide enough. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Nashville North KOA, Goodlettsville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Great overnight stop for us, wish we could have stayed longer. Seamless checkin with escort to our nice shaded long wide level pull through gravel site. Full hookups all worked well. Cable tv ok. Decent WiFi for light use. Ok Verizon. Paved interior roads a little tight. Nice dog areas with bags and waste cans. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Nashville North KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Location, location, location. This great Good Sam Park sits right next to the Mississippi River where it was fun to walk the banks and watch the river traffic. Close to Memphis, but away from the city bustle, we would love to stay for a week, but only had a couple of nights this trip. The campground was full every night so a call ahead is essential particularly if you want to be assigned one of the front row, paved sites. We had a lovely long wide level 2nd row pull through to which we were escorted after a seamless checkin. Water, sewer, and electric all worked great. No cable tv but plenty of OTA. No wifi that we saw. Verizon weak but ok. Bumpy access and interior roads. We will be back to this gem behind the levee (over which we joyously drove in our Chevy! tee hee) We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Ivy's Cove RV Retreat, Russellville, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Nice overnight stop for us at this small no-frills campground. WSE gravel pull through was long enough to stay hooked up and wide enough for some privacy. Heavy rains left lots of standing water. All services including cable tv worked well. Interior roads are a little on the narrow side although there were lots of big rigs there so navigating them doesn't seem to be a problem. No WiFi that we found. Verizon worked well. The place was full the day we called for a reservation and the night we were there so calling ahead is advised. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Ivy's Cove RV Retreat in a Fifth Wheel.

Oklahoma City East KOA, Choctaw, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely campground with nice landscaping, wide gravel pull through sites, and nice folks. We were escorted to our WSE site where all services worked well although we did have to work to get level side-to-side. Good internal paved roads. Iffy WiFi but our Verizon worked well. Ok cable. Nice laundry ($2 to wash , $2 to dry). Convenient to OK City, shopping, gas, restaurants. We enjoyed our two nights here and would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Weatherford / Fort Worth West KOA, Weatherford, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We understand that this park is under new ownership and we wish them lots of luck; they've got their work cut out for them. This is an old old old KOA with very tight buddy sites and narrow roads in need of grading. Despite having a reservation, we were assigned a site that wouldn't fit us into which we were sent from the wrong direction with no escort so we had to figure how to get turned around to even try to pull into the "site" which was not level and was too short. We were given a longer site with a broken sewer connection (this was just an overnight for us so that was ok, although we did pay for full hookup). We had to do some maneuvering to avoid hitting neighbor's slide. Water and electric worked ok. WiFi was nonexistent and our Verizon plan worked well. There were two entrances into the park with no security that we saw. We would not stay here again. We camped at Weatherford / Fort Worth West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Fredericksburg, Texas KOA, Fredericksburg, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Had lots of fun here and liked the area so much we extended our stay by a couple of days. First impression of this KOA is iffy as trailer storage is the first thing you see but it is really very nice with lovely big shade trees, nice wide and long pull through sites, and friendly folks. Checkin was a breeze and we were escorted to our level, full hookup, gravel site where WSE worked well. Cable was fuzzy and WiFi non-existent. Verizon worked fine. Lots of rules here, I guess that's how they keep things so nice. We enjoyed watching the chickens and feral cats that roamed the area and couldn't get enough of longhorn cows in their pen. Good gravel interior roads. Five miles from Fritztown but there's a gas station / mini mart across the street. We were happy here and would stay again if in the area. We camped at Fredericksburg, Texas KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

San Angelo KOA, San Angelo, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Good value in a lovely town; we enjoyed two nights here. Gravel interior roads and sites which were "buddy" so we shared our common areas with the neighbor on door side and were very close on the hookup side Friendly folks offered good check-in experience and escorted us to our pull-through, just long enough WSE site with all functional services including cable tv. Iffy WiFi, good Verizon. Pool was closed. We enjoyed our two nights here as we explored the pretty river walk, nice downtown, and the lovely water lily garden. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at San Angelo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Lubbock KOA, Lubbock, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Dusty, tight interior roads, park is right next to road and railroad and was really noisy. Good, level, Water/Sewer/Electric pull-through site with cable. All services worked fine. WiFi unreliable but we don't count on campground WiFi as we find it rarely meets our needs. Verizon OK. We were back by the dumpsters which needed to be emptied and drew a lot of flies. Indoor pool which was OK, but the heater and hot tub were both broken. We enjoyed the Buddy Holly stuff, a nice lunch at Cast Iron grill, and spent the whole afternoon at the National Ranching Heritage Center at Texas Tech; it was fantastic. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Lubbock KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Carlsbad KOA, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Nice KOA about an hour north of Carlsbad Cavern National Park and 20 minutes from the interesting town of Artesia. Good gravel access and interior roads and sites. Our pull through site was level, Water/Sewer/Electric (all of which worked great) and had nice patches of grass separating us from neighbors. Great cable TV. We did not attempt to use the WiFi as we have our own Verizon plan which worked great. Nice pool and sweet landscaping in the common areas including a straight gravel path through the park which meant we could walk to the common area without having to zigzag along the road. Great folks in the office with good check-in and an escort to our site. Nice dog park with real grass. Barbecue delivered to our campsite was a nice treat. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Alamogordo/ White Sands KOA, Alamogordo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Nice KOA, well maintained and super clean. Easy checkin with friendly staff. Gravel interior roads and sites, wide enough and level. Sites are separated by concrete walls for privacy (and maybe wind break?) and each include paved patio and nice picnic table. We had WSE and cable, all worked fine. Nice pool, great laundry. We use our own Verizon plan for WiFi (which worked great) so did not attempt to use campground WiFi. This was a good stop for us as we explored White Sands National Monument which we absolutely loved. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Alamogordo/ White Sands KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Route 66 RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Really really really nice park with lovely landscaping, great paved, level, WSE sites and wide paved interior roads. Seamless checkin with an escort to our site. Great pool. Shuttle to adjacent casino and "world famous Laguna burger" across the highway. We enjoyed the BOGO buffet in the casino which we got by signing up for their players card. Immaculate in every respect. No cable TV but lots of OTA stations. We did not use campground WIFI as we use our own Verizon plan which worked well. No trees (hey it's the desert). Great dog parks with nice grass (something our pooch hadn't seen in a while). We enjoyed sitting out in the evenings watching the moon rise over the New Mexico desert. Close to Albuquerque amenities (20 minute drive) where we enjoyed hiking Petroglyphs National Monument and all the fun stuff in town. Loved it here and would definitely stay again if in the area. We camped at Route 66 RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Railside RV Ranch, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, well-cared for campground with great access to the local attractions. Tight interior roads and narrow sites; ours was long enough and full-service, all of which worked well. Nice breakfast included in site rental, and there was a great shuttle to town. The campground folks found us good discount tickets for the Grand Canyon Railroad and we were glad to take advantage of a gratuity-based dog walker for the long big day at the Grand Canyon. No pool, but there is a spa. Good cable TV and on-again, off-again WiFi. Good Verizon. We would definitely stay here if back in the area. We camped at Railside RV Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.

Canyon Trail RV Park, Boulder City, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Nice RV park for a short stay in the Lake Mead and Las Vegas area. Wide paved interior roads with gravel long-enough full service pull-through. Lovely pool, great laundry room and nice staff. Cable TV. We had no luck connecting to campground WiFi but Verizon was fine. Nothing "resorty" about this place on a hill in an industrial area, but good for our purposes. We would stay again if in the area. We camped at Canyon Trail RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Richfield KOA, Richfield, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely campground, in town. It's obvious that the owners take great pride in this place and enjoy making it nice for us to enjoy. Lots of green space, a lovely pool, and wide, shaded sites. Check-in was a breeze and we were escorted to our full service, pull-through site which was nice and wide and had a cement area for the picnic table. Water/Electric/Sewer all worked fine. Great cable. We did not try the WIFI as we had good Verizon signal. This KOA caters to ATV enthusiasts and folks were definitely having a good time (we do not ATV, but enjoyed learning about this hobby). Gravel doggy area. We had a great time here and would definitely stay again if in the area. We camped at Richfield KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
