Green Acres RV Resort, Savannah, Tennessee

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice private park with ownership that obviously loves to RV. We were accompanied to our level, full hookup, easily accessed pull through where all amenities (30 amp, water, sewer, cable) worked great and were in good repair. Fantastic WiFi, which is a rarity in campgrounds. Limited Verizon LTE. We took advantage of the 2-washer, 2-dryer laundry which was neat and clean and worked great. Campground is right off the road, with good interior roads and signage. Lots of information for the surrounding area available in the office. About half the park appeared to be long-term stays. Would definitely return to this park when in the area. We stayed three nights to take in Shiloh, Corinth, Pickwick Landing, and Florence AL. We camped at Green Acres RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We toured Shiloh battlefield, the magnificent Corinth interpretive center, Pickwick Landing State Park, the Rosenbaum House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in Florence AL, and the fabulous Helen Keller birthplace near Florence. Lunches at the Rib Shack in Corinth and the Sweet Basil Cafe in Florence were great.

Paris Landing State Park, Buchanan, Tennessee

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

Visited this lovely state park campground in the off off season so it was not crowded; in fact we had a hard time finding someone to register us. The ranger finally found us and couldn't have been nicer. Our site included water and 30 amp electric, both of which worked fine. The campground overlooks the marina, which we assume is bustling during the summer. Approach road is great as the main road just kind of runs into the state park. Access roads are fine, interior campground roads are a little tight but no problem. We were glad we didn't try to reserve here as it would be tough to select a level site that was long enough without seeing it first. No OTA tv at all (fine with us); Verizon LTE was fine. Dump station at the exit worked great, $5 fee for non-campers (though I'm not sure who would have been around to collect it .. lol). The state park is really beautiful. There is a restaurant in the inn and some great views of Lake Kentucky. We thought it was a perfect jumping off point for exploring Fort Donelson and the Land Between the Lakes Scenic Byway, which is fabulous. Rate cited here is senior citizen, off-season - weren't we lucky? We camped at Paris Landing State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Fort Donelson, Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, the state park has lots to do. Eiffel Tower park in Paris was a fun photo op. The Dover Grill in Dover was a hoot; we loved it.

New Vision RV Park, LLC, Oaktown, Indiana

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Only place we could find near Vincennes. Small one loop park right next to highway and RR tracks; very noisy. Nice level pull through site. Water, electric, sewer all worked fine. Could not get on wifi. Had a tough time finding anyone in the office so we could pay but phone messages were returned promptly with instructions. We were satisfied with this park; it suited our needs. Note that the driveway to this park is directly off the highway. Our gps had us erroneously turn at the main road south of the Rv park which led to some white knuckles until we got back on track. We camped at New Vision RV Park, LLC in a Fifth Wheel.

Timberline Valley RV Resort, Anderson, Indiana

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice and obviously committed ownership. Everything is ship shape and well cared for even now that their main season has ended. We were escorted to our site, a long, gravel-covered, 30-amp, full hook-up pull through. A nice touch was that our assigned site was not right next to others; the sites are pretty close together so if full, it could feel confined. All on-site services worked well and the wifi was great (unusual for a campground) and we had good Verizon cell service. The gravel landing area for our site was narrow and not level side-to-side so we were glad we had leveling blocks. Interior roads are paved with some gravel, the latter were quite narrow. This campground apparently has some happy seasonal users as many of the sites had camper-created improvements like patios and stairwells; I'm betting there is big fun here during the camping season. We camped at Timberline Valley RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Pokagon State Park, Angola, Indiana

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful state park with great access from I-69. Nice paved roads and helpful signage provide good access to camping area. There is a fresh water fill station before campground entrance. Only one campground area (300) was open, the others were closed for the winter. We followed the written instructions and picked a site, then paid at the park office during office hours (our cost was for out-of-state rates +tax). We chose a level pull through (#388). The rolling terrain and some standing water made some of the sites undesirable for RVs. The 30 amp service at the site was fine. The dump station was situated in one of the loops so we had to drive around the whole 300 area to get to it and it worked as designed. The state park is really lovely. Lots of walking trails, an inn with a restaurant, cabins, on the shores of a lake, winter activities, and beautiful Mother Nature. We would not hesitate to return, especially at this time of year when it was not crowded. We camped at Pokagon State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Allendale / West Grand Rapids KOA, Allendale, Michigan

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Campground served our needs for a one night stop and was the only one open in the area. It looked like there were lots of amenities during the season but all were closed for the winter. In my opinion, the overnight price should have reflected the lack of access to the pool and other amenities (but maybe just keeping the water on and sites working in the winter substantiates the high price). All on-site services worked fine and were in good repair. Site was level, nicely wooded, and long and wide enough. Close to town. We camped at Allendale / West Grand Rapids KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We ate dinner at Main Street Pub based on Trip Advisor rating. Found groceries at a Family Fare. Both were in nearby Allendale.
