Emerald Desert RV Resort, Palm Desert, California

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $101.00
Overall Rating:

This place is very nice but I am sorry to say there is nothing that can override the horror of this train that goes by several times a day and through the middle of the night. It is truly terrible. It feels and sounds like you are laying on the tracks. What a shame. Unless you are not bothered by trains and want to pay a ridiculous amount of money - skip this. We camped at Emerald Desert RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Catherine's Landing, Hot Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

Not sure what happened to this place. The first time we were there it was amazing, quiet, clean and wonderful. This last time it was a living nightmare. We got stuck with people next to us who were screaming, yelling, harassing us when they discovered we complained. And it never stopped. Also had people flying drones over your head at 11pm taking pictures. Dogs barking non-stop. The place just turned into the Wild West. It was crazy. Tried to spend as much time on the trails as possible but at night - whoa. We camped at Catherine's Landing in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Take advantage of the zip line, hiking trails, boats for rent and frisbee golf. There are too many drunks screaming around a fire at their RV to hang around for long. Wow.

Santa Fe Skies RV Park, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

The place is just generally run down. Nasty washers and dryers. They were working on the water several times while we were there. They had originally blocked off our spot with a backhoe so took forever to get parked and then we BARELY fit. Wifi was nada and it was just overall underwhelming. Can do better. We camped at Santa Fe Skies RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

This park is very nice, has a dog area (all dirt unfortunately) and very nice people staying there. The downside is that there is little to no grass, and I had to basically tell management that my dog just could not wait a half mile to get to a "spot" of grass and he agreed; so told me to take them wherever as long as it wasn't in the no pet area.

They have wonderful events like poker and karaoke, New Years Eve party, etc. It's a beautiful park but the spaces are WAY to close together. We love to play badminton and could not even have enough space to do that on our lot. Sad. Also, the workers get started WAY too early with the machines, mowers and leaf blowers. It's over the top.

Get a pull through if you have a big rig. If not, get here in the daytime so you don't wake everyone up taking the hour it takes to back in. (Embarrassing).

If you don't have pets and don't like the sound, definitely stay in the no pet area. You will hear too many little yappers. Almost drove me nuts.

I would stay here again but if I were a full-timer I would not live here. We camped at Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Go to the karaoke on Friday nights. It's amazing. All these old timer pros from the strip sing there and they are great! I mean guys who sang with Tony and Frank. And they are very very nice!

Loretta Lynn's Family Campground, Hurricane Mills, Tennessee

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This place is beautiful and even thought we showed up at night there was a woman to help us out. Loretta Lynn actually lives on the property but she is touring now. Her place is amazing and the grounds are just spectacular. The only problem is that there is no designated dog run and the internet is TERRIBLE. We camped at Loretta Lynn's Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lots to do here if you are an outdoors type of person and you love Loretta Lynn. This is a cool place but please people, get some bandwidth. I know it's camping but it's 2016...people work remotely.

Gettysburg Battlefield Resort (Travel Resorts of America), Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

We accidentally got in a bad spot so I can't really speak on that. The place is "ok" I guess. The people who work there are nice enough but they didn't have ice and some other things. There was no real space for the dogs but there were some trails in the woods - full of seeds that stuck all over the place. The internet worked well. We camped at Gettysburg Battlefield Resort (Travel Resorts of America) in a Fifth Wheel.

River Plantation RV Park, Sevierville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

The park is very nice and has lots of amenities. One bonus is that it backs up to a nice river and has a huge area that you can let the dogs loose to fetch a few balls. There are a lot of attractions around (very touristy place) too, even a ropes/zip line course on the property. The people there are very nice but the only complaint I have is that the internet worked only about 20% of the time. This is just not acceptable to me. The spaces are also VERY small. Very little space. Get a space against the river. They are not pull through obviously, but if you can back it up it's worth it. We camped at River Plantation RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
