Anaheim RV Park, Anaheim, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

dStayed for 1 week. Park is 1.2 mile walk from Disneyland entrance and you can get into LA pretty easily from here. The bathrooms were tiled from floor to ceiling. The sinks had granite counters. The washers and dryers were new and could take credit cards directly. No need to have quarters or purchase tokens. The clothing folding tables were granite. The owners have definitely spent some money on the park itself. There is no view, you are in the city of Anaheim, but if you're going to Disneyland this is the place to be. Some of the sites were shaded with trees. In the summer I highly recommend the shaded sites. Mine was not shaded. Costco, Walmart and most shopping are an easy drive. Going into LA, traffic is terrible, but staying anyplace else would not avoid the traffic, so you just have to deal with it. We camped at Anaheim RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Anaheim resort shuttle to DisneyLand stops at the entrance to the RV Park and you can buy tickets for the shuttle from the kiosk at the stop. I noticed that the multilevel parking garage for Downtown Disney provided 2 hours free parking. If you eat in Downtown Disney and get your parking voucher validated the free parking is extended to 4 hours. 4 hours may be all the time you need at any one time.

Dockweiler RV Park, Playa del Rey, California

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 4 nights over the Memorial Day weekend after traversing the country from Orlando. Love this park. It is right on the beach. The Strand runs right in front of the park. Manhattan Beach Pier is 3 miles down the Strand while Hermosa Beach Pier is only a couple of miles further. Marina Del Rey is the other direction. Perfect location, but very hard to get a reservation. The park itself is a long asphalt slab lined out for RVs with full hookups between. No grass, no trees, no gravel, no mud. This is right on the beach, lots of sand. Toilets and showers on either end of the park with public beach showers and toilets in the middle. Common use fire pits on the beach. Completely packed when we were there with folks from all over the world and everyone seemed to be having a great time. We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Mount San Jacinto State Park - Idyllwild Campground, Idyllwild, California

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

We were only able to be here one night while traversing the country from Orlando to LA. Very pretty place to be. We intend to come back for a week. The town of Idyllwild is just outside the park and looks like great place to check out. It took us an hour to get up the mountain and an hour to get down. Fairly steep with a winding road. The road provides turn outs every couple of miles so you can allow the faster vehicles, not towing a trailer, to pass. We camped at Mount San Jacinto State Park - Idyllwild Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated), Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for two nights on our way from Orlando to LA. Short walk to the South rim of the Grand Canyon. The south rim trail is 14 miles, end to end. We walked and photographed all of it. Elk were particularly attracted to our Airstream and Audi, not sure why. I assume they just appreciate the clean lines of the rig. This is the place to be in an RV when visiting the Grand Canyon south rim. We intend to come back for a week and walk to Phantom Ranch. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

You can walk the rim trail or take the buses which will drop you off at each overlook. If you walk you will need to carry water, or you can just catch a bus back to the RV park.

USA RV Park, Gallup, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Only stayed for 1 night on our way from Orlando to LA. Easy access to 66. Gallup is touted as the most patriotic town in America (who knew?). They offer a reasonably priced bar-b-q in the evening. We camped at USA RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The Vineyards, Grapevine, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for only two nights on our way from Orlando to LA. We had a Premium Pull Thru with Full Hookups. The Vineyards was the nicest place we have stayed on our trip across country. Beautiful unobstructed view of the lake. The most spacious sites of any park we have stayed at thus far. We camped at The Vineyards in a Travel Trailer.

DiamondJacks Casino and Resort, Bossier City, Louisiana

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We only stayed for one night on our way from Orlando to LA. Easy access from I20. Close the the casino. We ate at the casino buffet on crayfish night (if you are into crayfish). We arrived after the office closed and left before the office opened, which was no problem for them. We camped at DiamondJacks Casino and Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Live Oak Landing, Freeport, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Only here one night on our way across country from Orlando to LA, but would love to come back and do some fishing. A bit of a drive off of I-10 for a one night stay. Other parks are closer, but not rated as high. We reserved an "RV Waterside Site - pull through". We were steps from the bank of Black Creek. We camped at Live Oak Landing in a Travel Trailer.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $175.00
Overall Rating:

Yep! $175/night, but it was very nice. I was fishing from my site. Ice is available at every bathroom. The bathrooms are within a few hundred feet of every site. Trash and recycle are within a few feet of every site. Everything is spotless. There is a Disney employee hosing down the site before you arrive. A note on the price, $175 was actually $10 more than the All-Star resort with a resident discount. Our stay was over spring break and if you want to be at Fort Wilderness over spring break I guess you will have to pay for it. There are only back in sites at Disney World. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

It's Disney World. If your board, its your fault. Never saw anyone until sun down. Apparently everyone is at Disney, or the pools, during the day. We went to the Hoop-de-doo review the first night.
