Basswood Resort, Platte City, Missouri

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Chose to stay there in late October of 2016 because it was out in the country away from Kansas City. Little did we know it was directly under the KC international airport approach. There are literally planes every few minutes right over head at low altitudes. You can easily read the lettering on them. The spot we stayed on was barely long enough for our truck and fifth wheel. They had lots of extra spots next to ours but wouldn't let us park our truck in the unused places. It is a pretty park, no doubt but if you sleep with your windows open you may find it difficult with planes going over all the time. For the money, not the best choice. We camped at Basswood Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Nauvoo State Park, Nauvoo, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great place to visit. The park rangers are helpful. This park is in the middle of town. It was the best trip my wife and I made this year. The lots are not very level, making it hard to reconnect and requiring tri-levelers in our case. However the forest is beautiful with eagles in the trees. There is no water on the spots but hydrants scattered around. Take water. Dump station available. The town is a great historic location and the people amazing. If you are interested in the history of the Mormon religion you will find it a great visit. We camped at Nauvoo State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Historic old Nauvoo! An amazing place with restored buildings, people in period costumes, free entertainment and a real historical experience! Don't come on a Monday if you wish to have a good eating place nearby. Everything else is open. This is across the Mississippi River between Ft. Madison and Keokuk, IA. A nice drive up IL Rt. 3 River Road.
