Tyler State Park, Tyler, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park in the Piney Woods of East Texas. We stayed at site #64 in the Big Pine area with 50amp, water and sewer. Great set of trails to explore, lake is great for swimming and the park also has various boats to rent. Staff is extermely friendly. Very nice Camp Shop with fishing gear, clothes and some various camping items. Having a Texas State Park Pass helps greatly with the parks individual fees and you also get discounts on your first few camping nights. We camped at Tyler State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Union Grove COE, Salado, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We were very impressed on the overall campground. It was extremely clean, well kept and the bathrooms were spotless. Even with Spring Break having the park at 100% capacity we did not feel crowded. Lots of space between the sites. We stayed in site #6 which was a pull thru, but was tight for our 34' 6" fifth wheel and truck. Lovely views of the lake, quite and restful. We would stay again. Shopping only 20 minutes away. We camped at Union Grove COE in a Fifth Wheel.

There are two group sites which allow two trailers to be parked at a lower rate than two individual sites.

Lofers Bend East Campground, Whitney, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at the Lofers Bend West Campground which is adjacent to the East Campground. It is an Army COE camp and very clean and well maintained. Campground was full the Weekend after Thanksgiving. Most of the park has paved roads, but we stayed in W03 which is on a gravel road. No issues parking, but leaving was difficult because we had to back the trailer following the same route in. The loop road was very rough with very low large trees and is basically impassible for most 5th wheels. Again, our location was an exception. We would stay gain. We camped at Lofers Bend East Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Stay close to the lake and boat ramp to stay on paved roads. First couple of roads next to entrance are gravel.
