Frontier Resort, North Platte, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We had reserved four sites for a family reunion, however the guy that manages the park gave 2 of our sites away. We were able to convince him to give us one of them back and packed a few extra people into one of our campers.

All of the sites (about 12 total) are back-in and are very close together, but they are right on the water next to the marina / boat ramp. Some of the sites have fire rings, but not all. Some have picnic tables, but not all. The bathrooms were "ok for emergencies" but not very clean. We were thankful to have our own bath and shower in our 5th wheel. The water was sandy - be sure to use a filter! The electricity at our site didn't work so we had to run an extension cord to the marina building 3 sites down to be able to have any power (15 amp). Glad it wasn't too hot and we didn't need our AC. Only a handful of the sites have sewer, and those appeared to be occupied by seasonal campers - RV there, but no people around except on the weekend.

Overall, it was an acceptable stay for two reasons. 1) It was within walking distance to my grandmother's house, and that was why we were here. 2) After the weekend, the campground pretty much cleared out and we had several days of peace and quite right on the edge of the lake. Verizon signal was ok, T-Mobile almost nothing. We camped at Frontier Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Peculiar Park Place RV Park, Peculiar, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Although it doesn't look like much from the highway, this is a very nice RV park. The front spots are pretty close together and plain, but the back area is shaded and very nice (but the back area sites do not have sewer.) We stayed for 3 weeks and paid for a month ($475) because it was cheaper than the weekly rate ($210). The ladies who worked in the front office were both very helpful and kind. The bathrooms are available for a charge for those in full-hookup sites, but are free for those in non-sewer sites. They were the cleanest I'd seen. They're private full baths (sink, shower, toilet) with keypad locks and a deadbolt. Verizon and T-Mobile signals were both great, and accessibility to the highway and Kansas City is easy. We camped at Peculiar Park Place RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Loretta Lynn's Family Campground, Hurricane Mills, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the first campground area (there are a couple of them on the Ranch.) It was a pretty steep hill to get up to it, but the road is good. The front sites were paved, quite long, and many had private decks. The back sites were gravel and not as long. None of those appeared to have decks. The deck was nice, but the edges of the site had a big dropoff so we had to position the trailer just so in order to make sure we stepped out of our door onto the deck and not off the edge of the pad. Because this required us to pull so far forward in the site, we were then a long ways from the hookups which were all at the very end of the site pad. Others have said the laundry room wasn't great, but it seemed ok to me. I used 3 washing machines and 3 dryers - all worked fine. The wi-fi was good, but our Verizon and T-Mobile signals were both very poor. We had to drive 10 miles down the road toward I-40 in order to make a couple of important work phone calls one day. We needed to stay an extra day at the last minute due to flooding in the area where we were headed next, and they were very accommodating. Overall, it was a great place to stay (especially for the PA price) and I would stay here again. We camped at Loretta Lynn's Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Dickens RV Park, Moncure, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for a quick 2-night trip to the Raleigh area. It was easy to get in and out of. When we arrived, we went to the big red barn assuming there would be an office there - just restrooms and laundry. The host came driving up on a golf cart because she had been watching for us and directed us to our site which was an easy pull though and very level. The sites are just long enough for the trailer, but they were very wide so we were able to park beside it. We weren't there much except to sleep so can't comment about amenities. We camped at Dickens RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Adventure Bound Camping Resort Gatlinuburg, Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

The sites were spacious and we were able to stay right next to our friends who stayed in one of their permanent RV rentals which was a fun way for them to try out the RV life and see if they like it. The park has a beautiful stream at the back of the property, a nice playground for kids, and a pool that wasn't open yet. Our friends' kids enjoyed a craft time on Saturday morning in the game room. We drove in to Dollywood (about 45 min) one day, and drove to the Food City about 10 miles up the road and took the Trolley into Gatlinburg another day. It's a nice park although kind of pricey and quite ways out from the entertainment of the area if that's what your're there for. The cell signal was not great - we had no T-Mobile signal and barely had Verizon signal. No park Wifi available. We camped at Adventure Bound Camping Resort Gatlinuburg in a Fifth Wheel.

Croft State Natural Area, Spartanburg, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 3 weeks and loved it even though we had to move sites a couple of times to work around other previous reservations. We stayed on both sides - the lake campground and the office campground. The lake side is beautiful but the sites are smaller and not as level. Site 48 was great on that side - long, level, and spacious (but not next to the water.) The roads on this side are tight and steep in spots. On the office side, the roads are easier to maneuver and the sites are all spacious and pretty level. We attended a horse show on Saturday morning which was fun. We saw lots of people renting boats and using the lake for boating and fishing. The campground is 3 miles from the front gate, and cell signal is almost non-existent in the park. We had no T-Mobile signal and only 1-2mb download signal with our Verizon booster. The park rangers and campground hosts were all very nice and helpful. We would go back here! We camped at Croft State Natural Area in a Fifth Wheel.

James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Even though it's pricey, it's worth it. This park is convenient to all of the Charleston sight-seeing you want to do and yet it's quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the hiking trails, the disc golf course, the lake - kayaks and pedal boats. The dog park looked great even though we don't have a dog. We watched a group of guys race their model yachts a couple of times. Even though we had a "buddy site," it was plenty of room and we didn't feel too crowded by the neighbors at all. Most of the sites are very spacious with lots of shade. Verizon signal was good. T-Mobile was so-so. We camped at James Island County Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Orlando NW / Orange Blossom KOA, Apopka, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Felt like a huge RV parking lot. Sites were very close together with trees only on the outside edges of the park. Had to keep our shades closed and the AC on the entire time for any privacy and noise control. The hosts were very nice and helpful. The laundry room was clean and the machines accepted debit/credit cards in addition to coins. Saw lots of kids using the pool, although we didn't have time to try it. Quite a drive into Orlando to go to any of the amusement parks. Verizon and T-Mobile signals were good. We camped at Orlando NW / Orange Blossom KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake, Orlando, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Loved this park! It is close to the entertainment area of Orlando and yet so peaceful and quiet. The lake is pretty - even though a little busy on weekends especially during regatta season. The disc golf courses and hiking trails were great. We were in two different sites because we couldn't book the same one for our entire stay. Both were nice. Not extremely level, but we were able to get our trailer leveled without too many problems. The roads are a little tight so drive slowly. The restrooms and laundry room were clean. Verizon and T-mobile signal were good. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Pass Christian RV Park, Pass Christian, Mississippi

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

As stated in the review below - no frills campground, but worked great for us. We spent 10 days here and were able to take day trips to New Orleans an surrounding areas. The sites are gravel and decently level, but did have to use one leveling block. The roads in the campground have been recently paved so are very nice. The host was very friendly and helpful. We chose to drive to a laundromat rather than use the on-site laundry because one of the long-term tenants told us that only one of the two washing machines and one of the four dryers work very well anyway. The restaurants a couple of miles away down by the beach served delicious food. Enjoyed some great dinners there. Nice quiet place to park if you want to explore the area. Verizon and T-Mobile data signals were good. No wi-fi in the park. We camped at Pass Christian RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Bolivar Peninsula RV Park, Crystal Beach, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We had a wonderful week at Bolivar Peninsula RV Park. We stayed in spot #2 right near the entrance. It was a pull-through spot that was easy to get in and out of. The water, sewer and electric connections are at the rear of the site so make sure you have pretty long hoses. We had to connect two together to reach. The sites were pretty level and each site has a picnic table and a grill. It appeared that the front of the park and the front part around the lake were people traveling through the area. The very back appeared to be long-term stays. The location was perfect - close enough that we could walk to the beach in the afternoon. Also only a short drive (plus ferry) to Galveston. We used Passport America for the Mon-Thurs of our week and paid regular price for Sun and Fri nights. Then on Saturday, we drove our RV down and parked right on the beach and spent one night. That was great (even though humid.) Our Verizon and T-mobile signals were great at this park so we were able to get plenty of online work done when we weren't at the beach. We camped at Bolivar Peninsula RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

RV Haven Park, College Station, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at RV Haven for two months in order to spend the holidays near our daughter. The location was very convenient - close to town yet far enough to be quiet. The manager was very kind and helpful whenever we had questions. The sites were easy to get in and out of. The only downside was the huge puddles of water between the sites after the big rainstorms.

The monthly rate was $375 + electric. The wifi signal was good, however we didn't use it for much since we have our own Verizon jetpack. We had good Verizon and T-Mobile signal here. We camped at RV Haven Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Longview Lake Campground, Lee's Summit, Missouri

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for a weekend. It was one of our first times to take our trailer out so we learned not to park so close to the electric pole that the slides don't open completely. Be sure to back in past the point where the leveling jacks won't hit the curb stops. And we learned how to level our trailer using ALL of our blocks. Our site was not very level side to side, but we were able to eventually get it all set.

The park is close to the lake but no water views. The sites are fairly spacious and include a fire ring which we enjoyed each evening. Our friends had the site right next to us so it was nice to hang out in the evenings at the fire. We camped at Longview Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The Campus RV Park, Independence, Missouri

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for one week in Nov 2016. Our site was easy to back into and quite level. The sewer hookups are all the way at the back of the site so our hoses from the second bathroom barely reached. The nearby trains were the only drawback, but we got used to the noise and during the night we kept the fans running so didn't hear them very much. The guy at the front office was extremely nice and helpful.

Follow the directions on their site to get here, not a GPS. The directions bring you through downtown, but they recommend the widest roads and easiest to maneuver. You can only turn into the park entrance easily if coming from the east. I would stay here again. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Kansas City East Trailside RV Park, Grain Valley, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We spent 5 weeks at this park in Sept-Oct 2016. We paid a monthly rate of $395 + electric. All the sites are pull-through and relatively level, but they are pretty close together. There is a picnic table at each site. Half of the park sites have full-hookups. The other half is just electric and water and they bring a honey-wagon around three days a week and empty your tanks for you. The bathrooms and showers were satisfactory, but not wonderful. They had 5-6 shower stalls with private dressing areas. The laundry room had 8 washers ($1.50) and dryers ($.25/8 min). They seemed to work fine. The pool was closed while we were here, but it looked nice. Pretty quiet although there is a background road noise from the highway that is right there. We camped at Kansas City East Trailside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
