Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $110.00
Overall Rating:

This was the cleanest, most friendly place we have ever camped!! The shower houses are clean and someone comes in several times a day to check on them. Our site was a full hook up with plenty of trees, solid concrete pad for our car and travel trailer and small sand pad in the back for setting up a tent. Swimming pool was warm and they also have a hot tub. Bus transportation provided to the parks or you can ride the boat to magic kingdom. Golf cart and bike rental available for use within the camp site loops. Two general stores/souvenir shops located on propert. Prices are high for convenience items that people might have forgotten to pack (cereal, coffee, milk, eggs, etc). Laundry was 3.00 wash/3.00 dry and was credit or debit card only. No cash accepted. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

You can rent a golf cart or bike and drive up to the little beach on property. They have quick service food and a souvenir shop up there as well. At night, watch magic kingdom fireworks from that beach and also the electric water pageant. (All free to watch!)

Encore Lake Magic RV Resort, Clermont, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

Nothing "magical" about Lake Magic! First of all, we made a reservation 3 mos ahead for 4 days during the Christmas season. We reserved 2 sites, NEXT to each other, with full hook up. When I called several days prior to our arrival, the woman at the desk said 1 site was near the entrance and the other was clear across the RV park! She said she'd try to get us closer but, in the end, we were still 4 sites apart and my mother is in a wheel chair! So much for camping "together". And it was a decent walk to the nearest bath house and WAY far away from the laundry facilities. Secondly, you can hardly call this an RV "resort"; more like a walmart parking lot! There are possibly a dozen trees on the entire property so it's like camping in the Sahara even during the holidays! And most of the parking pads are composed of giant white rock that isn't the least bit smooth, making leveling your trailer a nightmare! The few with concrete pads and trees are, of course, extra and slim pickings. The pool is very cold and no one there is under the age of 65. The only place for garbage collection is outside the main entrance. The bath houses have dirty grout, hair in the drains and uncollected trash in the waste basket. Within 15 minutes, we decided this was not the place promised us on the website (or even on the glossy brochure handed us at checkin) so we requested a refund for, what we feel like, is false advertisement. After speaking with the front desk, we were told no refunds are ever issued and the best she could do is offer a voucher for a future Encore RV site stay. So moving forward, I guess we'll request a drive through of any future sites we reserve BEFORE any payment is made. They market this as a friendly outdoor/camping experience just 6 miles from Disney. In reality, it's simply a retirement community for snow birds who'd rather not be bothered by the "strangers". We camped at Encore Lake Magic RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
