El Paso-West RV Park, Anthony, New Mexico

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here two nights. Nice little park, not to be confused with another in Anthony, TX - about 4 miles away that is a parking lot behind Camping World and is next to the freeway. Staff was very friendly and informative. Only drawback is that this CG is close to a busy state highway and can get a bit noisy in the morning and late evening. Facilities were in good shape and CG was clean. Quite a few full-timers but most kept their site clean (monthly rate was $280 plus electric). Would definitely stay here again. We camped at El Paso-West RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Be sure to visit Old Mesilla and El Portal restaurant. The drive through the valley/pecan orchards was very nice. Stopped at the Rio Grande Winery - Gordon was such a nice person.

Sand Hollow State Park, Hurricane, Utah

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice State Park campground. All sites on the west side are paved with ample room in pull throughs and back-ins, plus full hookups. Tables are covered with cement base. Higher sites have excellent views of the lake and the mountains/dunes. I highly recommend this CG. We camped at Sand Hollow State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Definitely rent an ATV/UTV and drive through the sand dunes. It's worth the price.

Twilight Dunes (Military FamCamp), Twentynine Palms Marine Corps CTR, California

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We planned a short stay here to visit Joshua Tree National Park - figured it should be a good deal being a military campground. Biggest issue is there is no on-site camp host - registration is done at the lodging office. Staff seems indifferent about the campers concerns or the upkeep of the campground. We came in at sundown and were given a site which wouldn't accommodate us. Had to call back and forth with the office in trying to get a decent site - it took over an hour to finally get the site. On the second day got a phone call at dusk and told we had to move because the electrical at our site didn't meet the fire marshal's standards. Went through a repeat of the previous night in that it took us three spots to finally find a suitable one. Staff just doesn't seem to know what they are doing with regards to taking care of the campground. Several of the empty sites weren't usable because of not being up to electrical codes. Very frustrating. Also, as mentioned there are no on-site facilities. I would not recommend this place, even though it's fairly inexpensive. We camped at Twilight Dunes (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.
