Sierra Hermosa RV Park, Questa, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, scenic location right off of NM 522 with many nearby outdoor enthusiast attractions like, the Rio Grande River, the Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument, the Gorge Bridge, Red River, Santa Cruz Lake, Wheeler Peak Wilderness as well as nearby commercialism in Taos, Espanola and Santa Fe. Free WIFI usually fastest I have found in 3 years full time traveling. AT&T roaming connection averaging 2 bars. I don"t watch TV but it must be happening as there are several rigs with satellite TV gear hooked up. Some highway noise but mostly quiet at night...except for the adjoining property owners dogs that frequently yap and disturb what could be very quiet, peaceful nights. That yapping should be music to the ears of k9 owners. Water pressure is good as well as electric service. No bath house or bathrooms or sewer problems. Owner and staff helpful, friendly and ready to lend a hand. Some quiet, helpful, full timers in the park. Pantry, auto motive parts and service, propane, pharmacy, restaurant, pubs within 1 mile for immediate needs. Park accommodates rigs from diesel pushers to truck campers on gravel pull through and back in sites. We camped at Sierra Hermosa RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Parkview Riverside RV Park, Concan, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

This is a destination rv park in the Frio Canyon of the Texas Hill Country with numerous sites beside the Frio River. It is well treed with much shade and the grounds are well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful and the convenience store is well stocked. Food, rv supplies, firewood and river recreation apparel and gear. BYOB. WIFI (slow but reliable) and Cable tv are included in the rates. AT&T cell signal averaged 3 bars and worked reliably. This is a family and pet friendly park. Although there is no playground or dog park, no one seemed to be bothered that kids ran around and rode their bikes through out the park and camp sites and animal owning humans take their animals to someone else's camp site to defecate and urinate when there is a wide open country road with plenty of country road-side grass and dirt right outside the park main entrance. At least the humans have the sense to pick up their animals mess and take it with them. Overall, this park is very quiet and peaceful in the winter and I would return (with a Galton whistle). We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Travelers World RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

The friendly, professional staff are a major contribution to the efficient, operation and maintenance of this attractive and well kept property. I concur with other reviewers extolling the amenities of this resort. Unfortunately, the city commercial freight train traffic and emergency services sirens pierce the quiet of this oasis at all hours. Still, the resort's proximity to numerous attractions, various modes of transportation, and several interstate highways make it a top choice for visitors and some long term residents. We camped at Travelers World RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Cedars RV Park, Ferndale, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

I was fortunate The Cedars had a nice, quiet, shady site waiting for me and my tent camping friend on a busy NW Washington Fair weekend in August 2016. The manager was very helpful, friendly and kind for allowing my tent camper friend to share my site at a Very steeep discount :) The park was quite busy with summer vacation and Fair folks but it maintained a very respectable mostly quiet, enjoyable atmosphere. There was some highway noise but not disturbing. The pool and poolside were large enough to accommodate and it was clean and refreshing. I'll return. We camped at Cedars RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Discovery Yukon Lodgings, Beaver Creek, Yukon

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

You know how it is when you're touring long without a care in the world except it's getting time to spy out a camp site for the night. Well right about that time I spotted a black bear looking to cross the road up ahead in front of me and when he spotted me he ducked back into the bush. Of course I slowed down thinking maybe I could roll up on him nice and slow and get a photo. Well, he was gone but I came upon Discovery Yukon Lodgings in the middle of nowhere at the base of a big mountain with lots of trees and green space. I figured if it was good enough for the bear, it'd be good enough for me. It was. We camped at Discovery Yukon Lodgings in a Truck Camper.

Bow Valley Provincial Park, Bow River Campground, Canmore, Alberta

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

This was the first Canada Provincial Park campground I happened upon enroute to the Alaska Canada Highway via San Antonio, Texas and I wasn't more pleased, impressed and happy to see that Canada camps so much better than my fellow countrymen and women. This rustic, diamond in the rough was just what I expected my East Access Route to the AlCan would be and Bow River Camp Ground nestled in the forest with the Three Sisters on one side and the Bow River on the other, Delivered. I guess I was so worn out from driving and marveling at the great sights of the country I was passing through and hiking, biking, jogging through the woods and splashing around all the cold, clean water I was finding...I slept right through the highway noise other reviewers refer to. Thank you Canada. We camped at Bow Valley Provincial Park, Bow River Campground in a Truck Camper.

Daisy May Campground, Fort Macleod, Alberta

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Daisy Mae was my first campground in Glorious Alberta, Canada via San Antonio, Texas in search of Western Canada wildlife and the Alaska Canada Highway. I arrived late afternoon June 2017 without a reservation. The staff were so helpful and friendly I thought maybe they were transplanted Texans. Although there were plenty of campers, it being summer vacation, there was a back in site with water and electric waiting just for me. After setting up camp, I went for a riverside walk along The Oldman River and lo and behold, a real live Big Beaver came swimming across the river and started trolling for dinner along the riverbank. He didn't pay me no heed at all with me walking alongside taking his picture and marveling at such a sight I would not have seen if I was sitting in my rig watching tv or playing games on a compute. Then a big ol deer came swimming across the river. My my my. what a sight. We camped at Daisy May Campground in a Truck Camper.

Great Falls KOA, Great Falls, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

I enjoyed my camp at this KOA in a shady, well treed section with a green area across from my site. Unfortunately, city growth has caught up to the park location and there is some daytime traffic and heavy equipment noise which disturbs the otherwise garden atmosphere of the park. The staff were very professional and helpful and the night passed quietly. We camped at Great Falls KOA in a Truck Camper.

Collier Memorial State Park, Chiloquin, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

I discovered this oasis on my Southbound route of my Alaska/Canada Highway Eastern Access route which began in San Antonio, Texas. I have a very well appointed, new truck camper and a turbo diesel 2500HD 6.6 engine and transmission to get me where I want. I "rested" at rest areas, truck stops, wal marts and camped at glaciers, rivers (The Yukon and others people dream about and dont even know), and seen stars and planets from Rocky, Kluane, Cascade, Coast Mountain and Alaska Range cliff sides. I have seen the Milky Way from desert arroyos, harbor parking lots and the North Pole. Collier Memorial State Park ranks in the top 5 "parks" where I camped and I loved all the pine needles, fresh air, dirt road dust, and peace and quiet of this park. The rangers and staff were professional, friendly and helpful and the park is well kept. Although there is some road noise, it is not so loud as to disturb the tranquility and harmony of the sounds of the wildlife and flowing water of the fresh water Spring Creek. The only real disturbance is the occasional barking dog and dog owners who think its ok to allow their animal to do its business at YOUR campsite instead of theirs! For those who need the RETAIL fix, Klammath Falls is nearby. This park is a destination park imho and an excellent base camp for exploring the surrounding area including Crater Lake, Fort Klammath, Sun Pass State Forest, Upper Klammath Lake and the Winema National Forest(which has a small dry camp campsite adjacent to Collier). Although the hiking trails in Collier proper are not extensive, there is EASY hiker access to the Winema National Forest area. However, the hiking here is pretty much limited to the forest service dirt roads. Hike till you die or shop till you drop. I'll hike. We camped at Collier Memorial State Park in a Truck Camper.

McArthur-Burney Falls State Park, Burney, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

$30.00 is steep for a plain jane no hookup site. That's the tenting rate too. Campground is spacious with lots of tall pines for shade and shelter. Park has a lake and beach with boat rentals and fishing. Burney Falls were spectacular. Sites were level asphalt with fire ring and picnic tables. Numerous community water spigots. Lots of cabins and people who mostly were quiet during quiet time. Firewood was honor system $5.00 per bundle. Didn't use the park store. The visitor center was open (11-3) and had Wi-Fi while open. No cell signal. Drive 10 miles to Burney for cell and Safeway. Flush toilet restrooms with pay showers. Generators OK 9A-8P. The Staff was professional, efficient and friendly. Great park with professional, efficient friendly staff who keep this very popular Texas Hill Country park near the 833 acre Inks Lake running and maintained. Boat, canoe, kayak, swim, wade, tube on the water or hike 9 miles of trail. Bird at Bird blind, observe nature or do nothing. Fas Gas RV Park, Haines Junction, Yukon

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This was the first rv "park" parking lot I spotted coming into Haines Junction from the East on Highway 1. There was only 2 other rv's on the lot and since I needed to refuel, restock and rest for the Sabbath, I registered for 2 nites. Checked in at the fuel station. Staff very friendly and helpful. This is a no frills parking lot. Long, open fairly level, close, gravel sites. No shade. There is a good, well stocked grocery on site with fresh meat pies. I would stay at the other nearby rv park if I were going to stay more than a couple days. We camped at Fas Gas RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Glendo State Park, Glendo, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

I didn't have a reservation but the attendant told me there were several open spaces available for my size rig at two of the park campgrounds. Told me to pick one and register at the pay station. I located a nice dry camp site up on high ground overlooking the lake at Two Moon away from the beach and boat crowd. Lots of pine trees for shade and wind protection, fresh air and amazingly quiet (not even a generator was running). Located on a bluff overlooking the lake with no access to the shoreline by foot. Good thing. Otherwise the hordes would be trampling about disturbing the peace. Most sites are leveled with paved roads through the area. lake very refreshing after a day of hiking and biking.
