Shady Lane RV Camp, Barstow, California

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice, clean little park for an overnight stay. Interior roads are a bit tight for big rigs but we managed. Was escorted to our site and got set up before having to register & pay. Hookups worked fine. Wifi was actually pretty fast. A pleasant surprise for campground wifi. Verizon service was 2 bars. We camped at Shady Lane RV Camp in a Motorhome.

88 Shades RV Park, Quartzsite, Arizona

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

This is a basic Quartzsite desert campground. Pretty run down in general and the sites are VERY tight especially at the front where we stayed. The price reflects the monthly rate. None of the Quartzsite campgrounds are very nice so this one is about average for Quartzsite. I guess you get what you pay for. Don't know why it gets such a high rating. Interior roads are very tight for big rigs. The people are nice enough but the facility is very run down. No picnic tables. The wifi is unusable. Cable works. Verizon signal is good but data throughput is pretty slow. Very dusty. Wanted to see what the Quartzsite hoopla was all about. We won't be back. We camped at 88 Shades RV Park in a Motorhome.

Dead Horse Ranch State Park, Cottonwood, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice state park campground. It would rate higher if it had sewer hookups. The sites are paved but most are not level. We had no problems though. Park roads are easy to navigate for big rigs. Generally pretty quiet during the week but busy on weekends. 14 day stay limit. Verizon service was 2-3 bars but the data throughput was not that great. We camped at Dead Horse Ranch State Park in a Motorhome.

Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated), Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is right in the heart of all the south rim amenities. The sites are good but a little close together. All the hookups worked well, even the cable TV. The one big negative was the Verizon service. It was terrible. Most days it was unusable. Had to go into the Village to get any kind of data throughput. For full timers such as us this is a big deal. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Watchman Campground (NPS Campground), Zion National Park, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Even though there was no water or sewer hookups, being inside the National Park with 50A electric made up for that and then some. Location was the key attribute when we made these reservations. We had an excellent site in B39. Our site was plenty long for our 43' coach and Jeep. The campground is clean and the volunteers keep a good watch on things throughout the day. The dump station was convenient as we stayed for 2 weeks. We camped at Watchman Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Wahweap RV and Campground, Page, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great RV Park. The location is superb. The space between sites is very generous. Interior roads are very easy to navigate for big rigs. Very quiet at night. This place is designed right. The views of Lake Powell were very nice. The campground is maintained very well and has a nicely stocked store & registration center. This was a great base camp to visit all the sights around Page. Wifi was pretty iffy but the Verizon signal was good. Whenever we're in the Page area we're staying here. We camped at Wahweap RV and Campground in a Motorhome.

Kanab RV Corral, Kanab, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice RV park to serve as base camp while exploring the area. We were able to get a permit to hike the Wave which was the primary reason for us being here. Sites are very close together and the park is right on the main road into Kanab so road noise is a constant. Wifi was very good by RV park standards. 16Mbps download speeds. Verizon signal was very good. We camped at Kanab RV Corral in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

While in town visit Escobar's for good Mexican food. Not a fancy place, just great food and great service. Some of the "foodie" places in town don't have such great food.

Cottonwood RV Park, Bluff, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Nice little RV park. Doesn't have a lot of amenities but we don't need much when passing through. Just the basics. The downside for full timers like us is the wifi was unusable and Verizon was only 3G. Not good for internet access. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Motorhome.

Blue Mountain RV Park, Blanding, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice, clean RV park that we used as a base camp for exploring Native American ruin sites. The staff was very helpful with directions, etc. Many of the sites are on the "buddy" system meaning that the pull throughs faced each other and had utilities grouped together. This made for a nice, large outdoor living space on the door side of the RV but it also put the drivers sides very close together. All the hookups worked fine and Verizon signal was good. We camped at Blue Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.

ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

First off, Moab campgrounds are rather expensive for what you get. You're paying for location. Most are on the the 191 highway so road noise is a given. It does get a little loud here at ACT during the day but it you're out exploring it doesn't really matter. It does settle down at night. The campground is clean and the staff are great. They have a lot of amenities including a complete outdoor kitchen area. It is a little tight for parking especially on weekends when all the off road "toys" come out to play but everyone seems to manage. Verizon signal was good. We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Motorhome.

Jordanelle State Park, Heber City, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great looking state park campground with a nice view of the reservoir. The facilities are in great shape and the park roads are all paved. Two downsides however. First are the very unlevel campsites. Only a few are what you would consider close to level. We picked the most level one we could find and the front wheels of our coach were well off the ground to get to level. You would think if the went to the trouble of paving them they would have gotten them more level first. The second downside may have been unique to our site, not sure. The voltage was very low. 105 VAC on both L1 and L2 of the 50A service. It kept tripping our voltage monitoring system. We didn't check other sites to see if they were the same. Verizon signal was good. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Motorhome.

Gros Ventre Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Even though this is dry camping you have to take into consideration you're inside the National Park. Everything outside the park and in town is amazingly expensive. Being inside the park has tremendous advantages if you're into wildlife viewing or photography. Location is everything. We had moose walking through the campground on an almost daily basis. The proximity for sunrise photo shoots versus driving in from Jackson is a huge advantage. The value for the location is very good. It is spartan however. If you need lots of amenities then this probably isn't for you. We stayed here three weeks and thoroughly enjoyed it. The final week we moved to the electric sites as it was getting pretty cold at night. Not many sites for 40'+ rigs but we managed. Verizon signal was ok but data throughput was pretty slow. We camped at Gros Ventre Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Americas Campground, Box Elder, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is primarily for members of the Americas Mailbox mail forwarding service. Many are here to change their residency to South Dakota. That's why we stayed. For that purpose this campground is OK. It is spartan and a bit tight. Few amenities. There is a larger section behind this one that is under construction. I spoke with the general manager and he confirmed they have had some issues with some of the contractors which caused construction to stop. They are close to having that resolved. We camped at Americas Campground in a Motorhome.

The campground is clean and well maintained. Easy access to I-90. Fairly quiet for good sleeping. The sites are pretty tight as well as some of the roads. Sites are gravel.
