Americas Campground, Box Elder, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

If it weren't for the mail forwarding service and changing license and registration on our vehicles, we wouldn't stay here. It's pretty bad. Two rigs in each pull through, tail to tail. You need to be within 2-3' of each other in order to fit rigs and vehicles. You have to park your truck sideways in front of your rig to fit. Side to side spacing is just as bad. Forget out extending awnings, it's that tight. Two rigs share the water hookup. No picnic tables. The "new" camp sites out back are still not done. We heard the same story a year ago about it being caught up in litigation. Some of the staff here are great, some are not. They really need to rethink the campground aspect of their operation. People complain about the facilities a lot. It is the cheapest FHU in town though. We camped at Americas Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Timberline Campground, Benzonia, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great family campground and extremely well run. We were here for an extended period so the rate reflects the monthly rate. Nice big pull throughs with plenty of room for vehicles. Interior roads are easy to navigate for big rigs. Everything is super clean. Showers, bathrooms, pools, etc. They really take care of this place. The staff is wonderful. All campgrounds should be run this way. Verizon signal is good. Wifi works well except on busy holiday weekends. When we're in the area this is the place we come to stay. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Hill's RV Park & Campground, Plankinton, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Basic but clean rv park. Perfect for an overnight on your way through. We stayed here last year and it was equally good then. Staff is very nice and helpful. Sites are long pull through's and gravel. Fairly level. Interior roads easy to navigate. They only take cash or checks, no credit cards. We camped at Hill's RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Autumn Woods RV Park, Rochester, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Just here for a quick overnight on our way west. Sites were a little tight but we managed. They had gotten a lot of rain and the ground was pretty soft. Gravel & dirt sites. Staff was very friendly and escorted us to the site and also arranged overflow parking for the U-Haul truck we had. We camped at Autumn Woods RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Island Resort Casino RV Park, Harris, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice rv park for people travelling through. We stayed here in 2017 and it was just as nice then too. Paved pull throughs. A bit of a slope to them but we leveled ok. Value is very good. Laundry on site and the prices were very good. Ice cream next door! Everything was very clean. These casino rv parks seem to be very well run. We camped at Island Resort Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.

Shamrock Park, Berrien Springs, Michigan

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great RV park run by the village of Berrien Springs. The place is clean and well cared for. The manager lives on site and is very helpful. There are a lot of seasonal work-campers here but their rigs are in good shape and their sites are kept up. Spacious sites with good asphalt interior roads. Utilities work well. WiFi works very well. Verizon signal is good. Rate shown above is the weekly rate. We camped at Shamrock Park in a Motorhome.

Honeysuckle Meadows RV Park (formerly Cove Mountain RV Park), Sevierville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second stay at this campground. For us it's a good location away from all the craziness in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. Easy access into the National Park from here. The sites are spaced apart pretty well but most are not level. Some are excessive and we couldn't level the coach so we had to move. The staff is very friendly and will help in any way they can. Utilities all work well including the cable tv. WIFI is outstanding. Verizon signal is good. Interior roads are good but a little tight in spots for big rigs. We camped at Honeysuckle Meadows RV Park (formerly Cove Mountain RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park, Mccalla, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

This is a busy, family oriented campground with a lot going on all the time. There is a small train for the kids with a very loud engine that runs during the day. Lots of kids on bikes. Sites are pretty close together. One huge negative for us is that it's not big rig friendly. Not for class A diesel pushers anyway. If you get assigned a site in campground 3, it's on the other side of a small bridge with weight restrictions. Our coach at 36,000 pounds was too heavy to cross. We ended up at a makeshift campsite with only 30A power. It worked for the one night we needed. Interior roads are pretty tight as well. Verizon signal was one bar. We camped at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park in a Motorhome.

Bogue Chitto State park, Franklinton, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great State Park campground. This is our second stay here. It's clean, quiet, sites are pretty level, full hook ups and the park has nice hiking/biking trails. All for $25/night. Easy access for big rigs. The uplands campground section is more popular and nicer I believe. Weekends can get a little busy but during the week it's very nice. Verizon signal was good. We camped at Bogue Chitto State park in a Motorhome.

Robbins RV Park, Beaumont, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is fine for a an overnight which was all we needed. Very friendly and helpful owner & staff. They go out of their way to make sure you get settled in. Place is a little spartan. Not much for amenities but you're not paying for it either. Sites are a little close together if there's someone in the next site over. No wifi but Verizon signal was very good. We camped at Robbins RV Park in a Motorhome.

Houston West RV Park, Brookshire, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice RV park if you need access to Katy or west Houston. Lots of folks spending the winter here. It's clean and well run. Decent wifi with Tengo Wireless although my Apple devices couldn't connect. Windows machines worked fine. Hookups all worked fine. A bit of highway noise from I-10 but not bad. Verizon signal was good. Interior roads easy for big rigs. We camped at Houston West RV Park in a Motorhome.

Malaquite Campground, Corpus Christi, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great campground if you want to be near the beach. No hookups. The sites are a little tight but not too bad. Our coach is 43' and it was a tight fit. The sites are in two parallel rows with a road between them. There are turnarounds at each end. Good enough for big rigs. A big negative is that there is NO Verizon coverage here. None. You can get some signal if you go outside the campground near the entrance. It was also very windy when we were here. Coated everything in a salt film. Made our stay pretty unpleasant. We camped at Malaquite Campground in a Motorhome.

South Llano River State Park, Junction, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice state park campground. The sites are nice with good space between neighboring sites. Some are a bit unlevel but we were able to move to a more level spot. Nice camp host. Two negatives. One is you have to pay a park entrance fee on top of the campground fee. For two people this was an extra $10 making this a $30 campsite for the one night we needed. Second is there is NO Verizon signal here. None. Not good when you full-time like we do. If those negatives are not an issue for you then this is a nice place to stay. We camped at South Llano River State Park in a Motorhome.

BC Ranch RV Park, Alpine, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small park with only about 4 sites for transients. The majority of the sites are permanent or seasonal residents. The four sites all share a common pedestal for power and water. There's four hookups but they're all located in the same spot. 30A only. Water but no sewer. Make sure your cord and water hose is long enough. Fine for an overnight. Wouldn't stay longer than that. Nice people. We camped at BC Ranch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Brantley Lake State Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Nice State Park campground. 1/2 the sites are reserved and 1/2 are first come first served. If you only stay one night they'll let you stay in the reserved section if space is available. We did that. Need an overnight on our way through. Had a 30 amp site for $14. 50amp sites were $18. No sewer. Roads are easy to navigate in a big rig. Verizon signal was good. We camped at Brantley Lake State Park in a Motorhome.
