ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

First off, Moab campgrounds are rather expensive for what you get. You're paying for location. Most are on the the 191 highway so road noise is a given. It does get a little loud here at ACT during the day but it you're out exploring it doesn't really matter. It does settle down at night. The campground is clean and the staff are great. They have a lot of amenities including a complete outdoor kitchen area. It is a little tight for parking especially on weekends when all the off road "toys" come out to play but everyone seems to manage. Verizon signal was good. We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Motorhome.

Jordanelle State Park, Heber City, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great looking state park campground with a nice view of the reservoir. The facilities are in great shape and the park roads are all paved. Two downsides however. First are the very unlevel campsites. Only a few are what you would consider close to level. We picked the most level one we could find and the front wheels of our coach were well off the ground to get to level. You would think if the went to the trouble of paving them they would have gotten them more level first. The second downside may have been unique to our site, not sure. The voltage was very low. 105 VAC on both L1 and L2 of the 50A service. It kept tripping our voltage monitoring system. We didn't check other sites to see if they were the same. Verizon signal was good. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Motorhome.

Gros Ventre Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Even though this is dry camping you have to take into consideration you're inside the National Park. Everything outside the park and in town is amazingly expensive. Being inside the park has tremendous advantages if you're into wildlife viewing or photography. Location is everything. We had moose walking through the campground on an almost daily basis. The proximity for sunrise photo shoots versus driving in from Jackson is a huge advantage. The value for the location is very good. It is spartan however. If you need lots of amenities then this probably isn't for you. We stayed here three weeks and thoroughly enjoyed it. The final week we moved to the electric sites as it was getting pretty cold at night. Not many sites for 40'+ rigs but we managed. Verizon signal was ok but data throughput was pretty slow. We camped at Gros Ventre Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Americas Campground, Box Elder, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is primarily for members of the Americas Mailbox mail forwarding service. Many are here to change their residency to South Dakota. That's why we stayed. For that purpose this campground is OK. It is spartan and a bit tight. Few amenities. There is a larger section behind this one that is under construction. I spoke with the general manager and he confirmed they have had some issues with some of the contractors which caused construction to stop. They are close to having that resolved. We camped at Americas Campground in a Motorhome.

Autumn Woods RV Park, Rochester, Minnesota

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is clean and well maintained. Easy access to I-90. Fairly quiet for good sleeping. The sites are pretty tight as well as some of the roads. Sites are gravel. Many of the roads are gravel, some are paved. Wifi was ineffective. Verizon very good. Good for an overnight or two. We camped at Autumn Woods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fort Custer Recreation Area, Augusta, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice State Park with good space between campsites. As with many of the State Park campgrounds in Michigan the sites were electric only. Many of the sites were getting a bit overgrown with brush and tree limbs. Could use some trimming. Our site was rated for up to a 45' RV but the tree branches hanging down limited access. We camped at Fort Custer Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Timberline Campground, Benzonia, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Great RV park. Staff is very attentive and focused on keeping the park in top condition. The pull through sites are plenty long and there's good space in between sites. The facilities are always clean and in great condition. Good useable WiFi except when they're full. The above rate is their weekly rate. A good amount of the sites are for the seasonals but there are very few run down RV's here. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

Duke Creek Campground, Cedar Springs, Michigan

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This campground needs a lot of improvement to justify charging $40/night. We full time and needed access to Grand Rapids for a few days. There are a lot of stored/permanent RV's here and many of them are pretty run down. The sites are a mix of gravel and dirt and very close together. They have a gate key that they want a $20 deposit for. They weren't even using the gate the few days we stayed. The office phone didn't seem to work as we never were able to get them on the phone to make a reservation. The owners are nice and try to be helpful but this place needs some work. We camped at Duke Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Honeysuckle Meadows RV Park (formerly Cove Mountain RV Park), Sevierville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park in close proximity to the National Park entrance. We stayed in Wears Valley to get away from the congestion in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Staff is very friendly and laid back. No problem washing the rig and toad while we were there for a week. We arrived after hours and they left a welcome packet at the office for us. We had site 2 and it was very spacious. It was a bit unlevel but we managed OK. Hookups worked great including the cable TV. We camped at Honeysuckle Meadows RV Park (formerly Cove Mountain RV Park) in a Motorhome.

This is a nice park for an overnight stop. Easy access from the interstate. Very nice and helpful staff, even after hours. They have many services even RV repairs! Level concrete sites. Woolly Hollow State Park, Greenbrier, Arkansas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Great state park with very nice staff. Spacious sites with many having a nice view of the lake. Some sites are not level and the first we were in we couldn't get the coach level without the front wheels off the ground. Contacted the ranger and we moved to another site. Very helpful. Hookups work fine. Verizon signal is poor and only 3G. Lots of campfires and smoke on the weekends. We camped at Woolly Hollow State Park in a Motorhome.
