Sundermeier RV Park, Saint Charles, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

A kind of unique campground. Located in an urban area (St Charles MO) but very near the Missouri river and right on the Katy Trail. The historic district is nearby and has a ton of great, eclectic shops and restaurants, It's a biker's dream since it is literally right on the Katy Trail bike path, which stretches across the state of Missouri (gravel path, use your mountain bike! ) The folks were nice and a great bonus, they had WIFI and satellite as well. Wonderful place! Great amenities, the nearby attractions are fun and interesting, great place to stay if you love biking and the place is run well and has rules that are enforced. Maybe a little pricey, but in the end worth the price. We camped at Sundermeier RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Pere Marquette State Park, Grafton, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park and just an amazing lodge! The bike trails were very nice and stretched along the Mississippi River. It was a pull thru site and hanging out near the camper wasn't as nice as hanging out near the lodge. There was a dump tank near the camper, which was convenient to use. We camped at Pere Marquette State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Not so much the fault of the campground, but shop before you arrive. The nearby town of Grafton is a lot of fun, but does not have a grocery store. The nearest town to food shop was Alton, which is a considerable distance from Pere Marquette. Other than that, this is just an amazingly beautiful park, you will be amazed at some of the beautiful views. Also there is a few great wineries in nearby Grafton.

Bicentennial Campground - Lake Lou Yaeger, Litchfield, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Some of the yearly campers were very nice and it rained and one let us stay under their covered deck so we wouldn't get soaked. The main problem with the campground is no presence of adult supervision. They don't pay the camp host and the corner near the entry is filled with people who drink all night, are loud and who leave their bright light lit all night, which comes right through your tent, not to mention some signs with vulgar messages which our kids had to see. The restrooms had mold and were very poorly kept. I tried biking, but for some reason Litchfield covers their roads with small gravel as a form of repair and I kept skidding out. If the city would put a little effort in this could be a lovely place and the permanent resident to the side and back were very very nice. There just seemed to be little concern for the tourists. When it rained, my site flooded badly. Some of the folks in the campground said they had spoken with the current and previous camp host but nothing had been done. We camped at Bicentennial Campground - Lake Lou Yaeger in a Travel Trailer.
