City of Rocks State Park, Faywood, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

The electric sites were full when we showed up on a Friday; so we boondocked! Boondocking among the rocks was MUCH better than being crammed into the electrical portion of the campground which resembles a commercial RV Park versus a state park. Since we boondocked... no electricity, sewer, or water. Some boondocking sites are pretty unlevel; but we made do. Some of the roads going to these sites were bumpy/rocky/eroded. Verizon service is functional. If you can do it... Boondock. We camped at City of Rocks State Park in a Motorhome.

Rock Hound State Park, Deming, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $4.00
Overall Rating:

Great out of the way park with some outstanding desert mountain views. There are no sewer sites that I saw (except for the camp hosts). There is only 30 amp electric. Verizon service was great. Some sites were un-level. There are a couple of short walks around the campground and part of it has a desert botanical garden. The camp hosts were GREAT and very visible/attentive to the campground. We camped at Rock Hound State Park in a Motorhome.

Brantley Lake State Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $4.00
Overall Rating:

This park has a couple small trails but they are rocky. Only a few sites have sewer, but there is a dump station nearby. Electricity is 30 amp only. All sites have a view of the lake which is a bit of a distance away. Great Verizon. We camped at Brantley Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Oasis State Park, Portales, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $4.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second stop at the park this year (the other stop was in Spring). I felt the need to update some information. The bathroom/shower facilities at this park are the best and newest I've seen at any park! Some people mention the cattle feed "smell". It IS there when there is no wind. It's not the worst I've smelled... but if you're not used to it, it can be over powering. We camped at Oasis State Park in a Motorhome.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Canyon, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We really enjoyed this state park! We stayed at the Mesquite campground. Definitely need to hike around this park. The only causes of potential concern... 1. Some sites aren't level (we had to put our front wheels on blocks so that they wouldn't be dangling). 2. No sewer at the sites. 3. No Verizon service down in the canyon. We'll stop here again though, those were minor inconveniences compared to the rest of the campground! Don't let the 2 mile 10% grade going down into the canyon scare you - it was pretty easy (even with a couple of hairpin turns). We camped at Palo Duro Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

Foss State Park, Foss, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed during their Halloween festivities which was pretty interesting with many people decorating their RVs and had a bunch of little kids running around for "Trick or Treat". It is a pretty nice campground. Only minor concerns: 1. Some sites not level (had to put our front tires on blocks so they wouldn't dangle). 2. No sewer at the site. We'd stop here again... We camped at Foss State Park in a Motorhome.

Hawthorn Bluff COE, Oologah, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

All sites have 30amp electric (no 50amp). No sites have sewer or water (although there are water spigots to fill your tanks somewhat nearby). The sites were not very level. I had to put the right side tires on blocks so that my leveling system would even attempt to level the RV. We camped at Hawthorn Bluff COE in a Motorhome.

Springhill COE, Barling, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

The B loop is 50 amp and forested. The A loop is 30 amp and has water views. All sites had water; none had sewer. Most sites at B loop were excessively out of level. Our front jacks were fully extended and we were still not level. There is a nice hike/bike loop through and around the campground. We camped at Springhill COE in a Motorhome.

Willow Beach COE, Scott, Arkansas

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

All sites at this park seem to have electricity and water with no sewer (there is a dump station available). Some sites are not level (ours - site 8) required our front wheels to be off the ground about 4 inches (we had them on blocks). Lots of ant piles around. The restroom/showers in the campground were closed - if needed you'd have to go to other end of park (to the day use end) and use those facilities. Wonderful view of the river and waterfowl. We camped at Willow Beach COE in a Motorhome.

Town Creek Campground COE, West Point, Mississippi

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

Love this park! All sites have water and electricity. Sites 62 & 65 have sewer. Very nice paved pathway through the forest. There's a small lake/pond nearby. Only negative is that we're near the Columbus AFB airport and you can hear/see the planes occasionally if you're outside (not while inside the RV with the A/C running). We camped at Town Creek Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Hernando Point - COE, Hernando, Mississippi

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We walked in on a Monday morning and found a few of the walk-in sites available. We weren't expecting water hookups; but it appears that all sites have water. However, site #68 had minimal pressure. There's a bit of construction going on towards the entrance to the campground area and they start about 7am in the morning. The occasional airplane overhead reminds you that you're not far from Memphis airport. The picnic tables and fire rings are sometimes placed far away from the RV site making them less convenient to use (ours was in the forest 50-100 feet away). Verizon is hit and miss with its connectivity (even with signal amplifier) for Internet use. Along the lake the service seemed better. We camped at Hernando Point - COE in a Motorhome.

Columbus-Belmont State Park, Columbus, Kentucky

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Although one of the more expensive state parks we've stayed in, we really loved this park! The ONLY downside that we found was that some sites were unlevel requiring longer wheel based vehicles to drive up on blocks. Having said that, our site (#27) was pretty level with a great view of the river below. The "available wi-fi" is a system that you have to pay for. However, we were able to use our Verizon phones as a hot-spot. The camp host was extremely helpful! We camped at Columbus-Belmont State Park in a Motorhome.

Boulder Recreation Area Campground COE, Carlyle, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

There are no major downsides to this campground... some things are beyond the campground's control and are mentioned in other reviews: -- lots of gnats. -- long narrow roads to get here when coming from the north. -- some sites would be difficult to get level in with motorhome. The cleanliness of the bathrooms is great (I've seen a cleaning lady here every morning). The laundry facilities (2 washers and 2 dryers) are inexpensive at $1 each (although one dryer stopped working). There are a variety of sites (full hookups, electric & water, and electric only). The first come first serve sites are electric only. We camped at Boulder Recreation Area Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Forrest W. "Bo" Wood COE, Sullivan, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

This is a pretty big campground with several loops. Some are just electric, some have water, and some have sewer. Make sure you get what you want. Our GPS went a little whacky while at this campground because it seems they've rearranged the roads since Garmin updated the maps in their GPSs. Not a big deal though, the GPS got us to the campground alright. Some sites that are considered "waterfront" aren't really. They're on top of a hill that MIGHT have a view of the water through all the trees. Our site - 67 - did not have a water view. We camped at Forrest W. "Bo" Wood COE in a Motorhome.

Indiana Dunes State Park, Chesterton, Indiana

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Loved this park. The restrooms/showers were a bit dingy due to continual use throughout the summer; but they are clean. The camp store had ice cream which is always a bonus. Don't think any sites had sewer or water; but there is a dump station and several potable water spigots throughout the camp. We camped at Indiana Dunes State Park in a Motorhome.
