Southern Comfort RV Resort, Florida City, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Snowbirds, but more so long-termers. Tight fit from perspective of folks with trucks parked in front of their units half in the narrow gravel site pathways. This was a stayover for us so we could then arrive in Key West early next day. Wifi poor as usual for any place we stay. No store that I'm aware of. PROS: Very accessible off main highway heading onward to Homestead, and Key west. Walmart and other stores can be biked to somewhat safely. Fairly quiet after 10PM. CONS: Lots of noisy motorcycles during day leaving...later coming back, but hey...nothing worse than many with trucks/etc. coming going at typical park. Tiki Bar not open except for certain dates/events ?? I would stay again ONLY for one night, it's ok. They allowed one "resident" to post giant political sign across his vehicle, with jeers to those voting for the opposing candidate. This makes this resort look stupid. We camped at Southern Comfort RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Purely stay-over on way to Key West, close to highway and stores like Publics on the way out.

Leo's Campground, Key West, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

Very small place off US1 behind a rather business-hour noisy rental business. Adequate for our 22.9' Class B, tight for others with big rigs/toads, etc. Bathrooms 'ok' clean, but women's is marginally private; men's shower/bathrooms semi-exposed. Literally have a picnic table for wifi users under roof about 12 feet from one men's stall?! Only 2 dryers/washers, one of which out-service. Wifi zero useful. Sadly, no-see-um insects added to the issues. However, location is great. Tent campers can camp in back, and of course they are near bathrooms as their only source...adding to the crowdedness. We camped at Leo's Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You can bike on the KeyWest Trail which is just across US1 a block away. A fun 4 mile ride on sidewalk/trail, with about 1 mile on bike lane, but near Duval street, where many bikers cycle, so we biked each day in/out...great exercise, no car desired/needed. Try "the Café", a vegetarian restaurant with great food, and delicious carrot cake. Great food, and warm people. It was worth the trip, helping us not mind so much Leo's shortcomings.
