Lake Murphysboro State Park, Murphysboro, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Electric hookup only but that was fine. Water at spigot only and there were 2 for the entire campground. Dump station nearby up a steep hill - was on incline making it difficult to completely empty. This is a beautiful, quiet park with an abundance of bluebirds! Fishing good. Camp host tried his best to be helpful and very personable. He is spread way too thin though. Grills were not in good shape. We went and bought our own. Toilets were out toilets. We camped at Lake Murphysboro State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cranes Mill Park COE, Canyon Lake, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

First stay in a COE and it was a wonderful first experience! It was clean, spacious, quiet and beautiful! Parking pad was level, dumpsters nearby sites, great areas for walking. Hubby fished from a rock bar and a fishing pier and had a blast. Canyon Lake is blue & beautiful. Though they no longer have a contract with anyone to clean the bathrooms and it is done by volunteers, it was still cleaner than most we've been in. And the showers were spacious. Staff was wonderful. We will be back! We camped at Cranes Mill Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Rio Guadalupe Resort (formerly Rio Raft and Resort), New Braunfels, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

First time in a private park. Staff was wonderful, sites were pull through, which was great. Nearest neighbor was 12 feet away and we could hear them constantly. The view from our living room window was their hookups and junk they had setting there. It suited our last minute needs. We camped at Rio Guadalupe Resort (formerly Rio Raft and Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.

Choke Canyon State Park (Calliham Unit), Three Rivers, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Got a bit off due to having a Texas State Parks pass. Many sites did not have shade, but we were able to choose one with shade. Showers/bathroom old and in need of touch ups but clean. Very quiet campground. Great main road for walking - I got nearly 7 miles in daily. Hubby fished from bank and made quite a haul on catfish. Great place for pets. Deer & wild turkeys roam just outside campers. I did get scared the last day while on my walk and a javelina crossed the road not 25 feet in front of me. We will be back. We camped at Choke Canyon State Park (Calliham Unit) in a Fifth Wheel.

Fairfield Lake State Park, Fairfield, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful campground easily one of our favorites. We enjoyed fishing and hiking and there was ample opportunity for both. Camp host was very friendly. We loved the pull through sites. It's a huge campground with 3 different loops. Love the layout which on pull through included railed steps up to the picnic table and fire pit. My ONLY complaint is that the bathroom across from site #74 was filthy. The garbage in the toilet stall stayed full with the same garbage it had in it when we arrived & we stayed 7 nights. The showers also were filthy including powder all over one shower floor which trailed out into the walking area of the shower. That was there our last 2 days. Other than that I would easily give this a 10z. We camped at Fairfield Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Jimmie Davis State Park, Chatham, Louisiana

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here 3 days/nights in our fifth-wheel and absolutely loved it! Loved the trees surrounding each site, the size and spacing of the sites, the beautiful lake and so much more. Water and electric are provided and there is a dump station in the park. Bathrooms and showers are large and clean, & the shower had nice, hot water. Park is pet friendly, staff are friendly, and it's just an all around great place to stay. We camped at Jimmie Davis State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Natchez State Park, Natchez, Mississippi

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Entrance road was in terrible, dangerous shape due to potholes and sharp curves. Don't go over 15 mph tops. We had a great pull-through site with a level, concrete pad. Individual water hookups were drink back hydrants, and nearly all of them leaked so badly it was impossible to leave them as a water hookup. One gentlemen who has been coming there for 9 years says they know about the water problem and road issues but do nothing about it. Has a good nature trail, but poorly maintained. Husband picked up 4 grocery bags of trash while hiking it. Beautiful lake.showers were great and laundry room looked nice. We camped at Natchez State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Alexander Springs Recreation Area, Altoona, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at Alexander Springs several days and it turned out to be one of our favorite stays thus far. Grounds are clean and well kept as was the restrooms/showers. They offer dishwashing rooms which were not well kept, but that's more due to users I believe. Had a tornado warning our first night there, & park crew came around to us all to warn us to take cover, directing us to a safe area. Good quality drinking water. Shaded sites. Our only complaint was each site did not have individual water spigots. We camped at Alexander Springs Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.
