Melville Pond Campground, Portsmouth, Rhode Island

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

We couldn't comment like others did regarding the owners, we never saw them. We made our reservation over the phone and paid the ridiculous $70. We checked in just before 7 p.m. and when we left around 10 the next morning, the "open" sign still wasn't on. Regarding the bathrooms: There were three co-ed bathroom/showers in one building. Stall #1 had no working light, stalls #2 & #3 had NO toilet paper. The next morning I watched a cleaning person leaning on the wall of stall #1 stall texting with her phone. The women's restroom building across from the showers wasn't any better. They were not clean and lacked paper. My husband said the men's room was the same. While it was a cute campground, it certainly wasn't worth the price. We also saw a sign that indicated there was a $10 fee to dump, but it didn't say if that was for non-campers or campers. Either way, we didn't dump. I would not recommend this place or ever stay there again. We camped at Melville Pond Campground in a Motorhome.

Camp Eriez Campground, Lake City, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a cute little campground! Most of the permanent sites have a structure built to cover it. We have never seen anything like it. But all the sites were clean, lawns were mowed, and lots of flowers planted! A short, though steep walk to Lake Erie, lets you see the Lake, but I didn't find a place I could put my feet in the water. Friendly people! We chatted with several permanents and one traveler as well. And the owner was very friendly and nice! He put us on a nice level, pull through site. The restrooms were very clean, BUT put locks on the doors please! And more light please. There was only one light in the middle of the room, and two more, one over the center of the 3 bathroom stalls and the 3 showers stalls. It was very dim. It was also impossible to adjust the shower temp too; there was no handle to make the water cooler. The room was also poorly ventilated and when you walked in after someone took a shower it was HOT! Now to be fair, we visited during a very hot spell of weather, so maybe this was unusual. My husband said the men's room also lacked locks on the stall doors. For an overnight while traveling though, it's an easy in and out, gives you a nice place to put up your feet or have a fire. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again (if he'd put locks on the bathroom stall doors, that is!). :) We camped at Camp Eriez Campground in a Motorhome.

Niantic / I-95 Exit 72 KOA, Niantic, Connecticut

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I'm confused by the low rating here. We had a delightful stay at this KOA. The staff was beyond helpful and set us up with our KOA membership. The restrooms were clean, the site was level and we had the greatest fire pit of all time! One of the neighbors on a permanent site stopped over to chat, as did one of the other workers who we absolutely loved! We had such a good time around the campfire that night!! The next morning I felt like I was leaving family and they didn't make us feel at all rushed out, but chatted and shared places to visit and good roads for traveling. We were hoping to visit one of their other KOA campgrounds, but our travels took us in another direction. I would not hesitate to stay at this KOA again. We camped at Niantic / I-95 Exit 72 KOA in a Motorhome.

Grandpa's Farm Campground, Richmond, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We were greeted by a friendly person who gave us some interesting history about the campground and then escorted us to our site. It was very nice! This is such a cute little park with treed sites and a creek running through the back. The campground is older, yes, but very well kept up. A small pool was near the entrance. The restrooms were clean and well lit. The grounds were nicely kept with blooming flowers and lawn ornaments. I would not hesitate to return. Just walk around and enjoy the grounds. I took several pictures of the flowers and decorations. Quite lovely! We camped at Grandpa's Farm Campground in a Motorhome.

Jonestown / Hershey NE KOA, Jonestown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Pros: Nice laundry room and shower/restrooms. Unfortunately it ends there. Cons: Welcoming staff not friendly at all. This campground serves food and they boast a large sign featuring hand-dipped ice cream in several flavors. But the same staff person said "We're out." We ordered dinner to be delivered to our site: broasted chicken, potato wedges, macaroni salad, and baked beans (cold). The chicken bordered on being burned; very overdone and dry! It was inedible and we threw it away. The "side" servings are not 4 ounces, they are 2 at best. Nothing was worth eating, just avoid that. Needless to say, I don't recommend this KOA. We camped at Jonestown / Hershey NE KOA in a Motorhome.

Wild West Campground & Corral, Amherst, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We spent a weekend here. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will absolutely return! Large sites have a park-like look to them. Some more private than others, but they are all very large. Owner delivers your wood to your campsite! Nice play area if you have little people along with you. You can take an hour ride and then have him cook you a steak that is done to perfection! Clean showers and restrooms as well. The group fire pit is a great place to hear stories from the owner and the his seasonal guests. Had a great time! Definitely a good find! We camped at Wild West Campground & Corral in a Motorhome.
