Hocking Hills State Park, Logan, Ohio

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here while we explored the Hocking Hills region. Many campsites were decorating for the upcoming Halloween weekend festivities. In season there is a nice looking swimming pool with a slide and a smaller kiddie pool. Full hookups were an unusual state park feature. Park road is paved but entrance is via a steep winding driveway with no shoulders. Wouldn't want to arrive after dark. Get a region map and plan your route to travel to the various caves, waterfalls. At least two had ADA access but the majority require ability to walk up and down rough stairs, over rocks and distances ranging from 1/2 mile on up. Truly beautiful well marked hikes to caves, waterfalls, cliffs, gorges and woods. Pack a picnic, wear hiking shoes and use your trek poles. We camped at Hocking Hills State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pokagon State Park, Angola, Indiana

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed just one night while traveling. Off season weekday, Park was not crowded. This State Park is huge!! Nice hiking trails, and people were enjoying the bike trails and paved park roads. Our site was larger and had nice tree/shrub buffers for privacy. When Park is full this would be a premium site. We camped at Pokagon State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is an Inn and restaurant in the park. Planning to do a family meetup next year with non RV owning family staying at the Inn. Park has a toboggan run, could be a fun winter camp experience. Very convenient to expressway, but park is so large there was zero highway noise. Being from Michigan we were charged $9 day use fee on top of site fee and 17% tax.

Lake Michigan at St. Ignace (NFS), Moran, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

We were able to grab a drive up site on a beautiful summer week day. Lots of shade and temps cooler at night for good sleeping without air or fans. Up and over wooded dune(there was a path) and we had a large stretch of beautiful Lake Michigan beach to ourselves. Highway noise during daytime but it quieted at night. Hosts stopped to say hello and were friendly. Verizon worked well. We only stayed one night, would return for longer stay. Did not use firepit, it was one of those goofy extra tall ones. We camped at Lake Michigan at St. Ignace (NFS) in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful beach. Small stones at water edge, people with sensitive feet will want water shoes. Close to the mighty Mackinaw Bridge, St Igness and the Garfield Zoo.

Evergreen Campground, Havre, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Picture a large front yard with shade tree here and there. Park on lawn and plug in. Pleasant one night stopover. Arrived about 4 pm to fairly empty CG on a Wednesday but it almost filled up soon after. Older shower house, didn't use but looked clean. Might need quarters for shower as there were coin boxes on wall. Owners were running sprinklers in unoccupied areas, suppose that's how they keep the grass growing instead of letting the sites go to dirt as this whole area looked very hot and dry. Not a destination resort but certainly a nice stopover or stay if you have other business in area. We camped at Evergreen Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Selmac - Josephine County Park, Selma, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

County park has three camping areas around Lake Selmac. Lake is pretty but overtaken with geese. Lots of goose dropping at what used to be a swim area. Fair amount of fishing activity. Campground very wooded. Camp road very narrow. I would not bring a big rig in. Camp hosts very considerate. Helped us find a new site, as upon arrival we discovered I had reserved probably the most unlevel site in the whole park! Mix of RV and tent campers. Family group enjoying Yurt camping. Firewood $5 per bundle. Unusual to find full hookups at a wooded campground like this. We camped at Lake Selmac - Josephine County Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The Redwoods RV Resort, Crescent City, California

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Pretty RV sites nestled under the trees. I was disappointed in my site due to I had reserved a deluxe site three months in advance but upon arrival I was assigned to a rather small site near the entrance. Every RV and car entering or leaving drove past raising a cloud of dust. I think this site should be considered a standard site and assigned as a last resort when campground is full. Had I known, I would have reserved a premium site and insisted it be off the main drag. Our site was also immediately adjacent to the playground. Major plus if we had children, which we don't. I did point this out at checkin and was told the map was misleading, that the playground was further away. Not true. I believe they stuffed us in the little site due to our smaller '25' length. However we were charged the same as the bigger rigs who had much nicer sites. We camped at The Redwoods RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Neat, clean, level sites. Almost all have some shade. Owners pleasant. Only ding is broken washers at otherwise nice clean laundry. No playground or pool or fire rings so might not be best for children. Worked well for us as we don't have small children. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Steamboat Park Campground, Jenison, Michigan

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Chose this campground for it's close proximity to Grand Rapids. My riverside site would have been awesome except heavy rains had the river flooding over its banks and the whole campground soaking wet. Roads and site drives were fresh gravel so no mud. Showers were immaculate and constructed for high use age and easy cleaning so I imagine they will stay that way. I liked that the individual showers were a full bathroom with toilet and sink area. Convenient hooks and sink shelf too. Brand new pool was sparkling clean, but weather too cold and rainy to partake. Lots of construction equipment around, tells me they haven't completed building everything. Once completed this will be a real gem. We camped at Steamboat Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here to participate in nearby wedding so we didn't make use of facilities but the two pools looked very attractive. I would return with grandchildren to use the pools and adjacent miniature railroad. Close to Binder Park Zoo an excellent attraction. Casino nearby.

Colleton State Park, Walterboro, South Carolina

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice one night stop for us as we traveled through area. Camphost very prompt to come give us welcome and introduce himself. Very helpful regarding WiFi not working (modem at office needed reboot). Our site was close to highway so there was road noise but it was winter cold out so we were inside. Site was roomy, level and entire campground under large trees. We camped at Colleton State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Creekwood Farm RV Park, Waynesville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Convenient stop on our way north to Michigan. Park 1/4 full of seasonal or winter storage campers, but all sites clean (no junk sitting around) and all campers newer and well kept. Excellent spotlessly clean showers, each a full large bathroom with sink, toilet and large shower. Would be super nice for bathing, dressing children. Clean laundry with 4 washers, 4 dryers. Some sites on river, must be nice in summer. We were on a pull through in the center, fresh gravel and new picnic table. Neighbors would be close in peak season but we were there in January so not a problem. Staff friendly, helpful and campground looked well cared for. We camped at Creekwood Farm RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Wilderness State Park, Carp Lake, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Nicely treed State park with easy access to Lake Michigan. Lakeside loops have narrow dusty road. Back loops not on the lake have paved roads, larger sites and parking pads. Lots of elaborate tent camper setups with mess tents, shade tents, and lots of beach toys. Several wave runners moored at beach. High Great Lakes water levels have reduced beach front but there was still plenty of space for everyone. Campground sits on bay so waves not too bad and water temps warmer. Be aware Great Lakes water is pretty cold!! No problems with noisy campers or barking dogs. Mostly family groups enjoying Michigan summertime fun at the lake. We plan on returning. Hope to score another lakefront site. We camped at Wilderness State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Graceland RV Park & Campground, Memphis, Tennessee

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Convenient place to stay while doing the Memphis tourist thing. Easy walk across parking lot to Graceland, saves $10 parking fee. Free shuttle to other attractions was supposed to be available but something was messed up, we gave up after waiting a half hour and went back to RV for lunch. Nothing especially beautiful about this campground, just a basic level parking site for your RV. Had pleasant encounters with staff. Upon set up one stopped by to be sure we were finding our utilities, later same staff person hopped off his golf cart to open door to laundry for me when he saw me carrying full basket. Laundry was clean with 4 washers, 4 dryers. We camped at Graceland RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
