Ja-Mar RV Resort, South, Port Richey, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for 2 months, from December 28, 2016 - February 28, 2017, on the recommendation of friends who Snowbird here. The residents are very friendly and courteous, and the park is well-maintained. For those seeking activities, tennis, swimming, shuffleboard, get-togethers and entertainment, etc, there is plenty to keep one occupied. If you are more of a loner, like me, there is no emotional push to join in. Making reservations was easy. There is generally room here during the Snowbird season. Unfortunately, the Noseeums were thick this winter so I was not able to sit outside very often. I was given an end spot, facing the dog walk. Generally, people are good at picking up after their pets, but there were a few times I had an unexpected surprise in the grass near my door. I have a 32 ft fifth wheel. I had to back up my pick up truck as far as the hitch to get clear of the road. Campers who arrived next to me were so close that their cigarette smoke would blow into my rig. Not pleasant. We camped at Ja-Mar RV Resort, South in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a great area for photographers and bird watchers. Clearwater, Dunedin, Tarpon Springs, Safety Harbor and Homosassa are all well-worth visiting. Shopping and restaurants, even several flea markets. An excellent central location.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Birchwood Acres, Woodridge, New York

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

An excellent family park, now owned by Sun RV Resorts. The sites are on several hills, with rustic cabins and lodges throughout the upper end of the park. Excellent tenting facilities, with a covered pavilion, recreation hall, water park, a fishing pond, snack bar, well-stocked ranger station and golf cart rentals. (No transient guests may bring in their own, and motorcycles are not permitted inside the park beyond the ranger station). Friendly staff and visits by Yogi, Cindy and Boo Boo bears. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Birchwood Acres in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Very rural, but close to Sam's Point Preserve and the Ice Caverns (a great hiking area), many waterfalls throughout the area, and Bethel Woods - where the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival was held. 8 miles to the closest towns for grocery shopping and restaurants. 90 miles from New York City
