Thousand Trails / Pio Pico, Jamul, California

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We can cross this one off our list. First when someone takes your reservations its reasonable to assume that when you arrive they won't tell you sorry you have to stay at the hotel across the street the one with no toilet. Then tell you if you show up here every morning you just might get to come here. Well that's pretty much the song and dance they take reservations (overbook) then when you get there your told to go to the over flow area (no septic) and hope you can be allowed to get the site you booked. I would suggest that at a minimum you tell people up front or not take the reservation at all. The park is poorly maintained with full time renters and RVs that look like they don't even run. The side that you initially go to is not staffed and left us wondering about our safety. We had 3 weeks booked and had to leave. We camped at Thousand Trails / Pio Pico in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you enjoy boondocking or if you have some need to be close to Tijuana this is your place. Short of that I don't get this place and any mention of resort and pio pico in the same sentence is an oxymoron

Thousand Trails - Palm Springs RV Resort, Palm Desert, California

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Park is well maintained staff helpful and actives range from pickleball to water volleyball. You are surrounded by a number of events and plenty of shopping opportunities. If it's strictly camping your looking for this is probably not your 1st option but the park can give you the a bit of the outdoor feel. On the bad side has quite a bit of road noise from the freeway and if possible get a site towards the rear of the park. We camped at Thousand Trails - Palm Springs RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
