Willow Springs RV Park (formerly Kickback RV Park), Raton, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Trying to find a slot at an RV park on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Lots of parks full. This one wasn't. They were about 2/3 full. Friendly, helpful owners. Slots are a little narrow, but room enough to put all 4 slides out. Had to make sure we positioned two slides to miss a tree. Owners very helpful getting us located and lined up. Friendly neighbors. Site was level, we pulled all the way through, gave plenty of room in the back for our tow vehicle. Easy off from I-25, easy on to US 87 when we headed for Amarillo. Owner offered suggestions on things to see and do in the area. Very satisfied with the service. Looks like new owners have painted a lot of the buildings on the property. We would stay here again. We camped at Willow Springs RV Park (formerly Kickback RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Sugarite (pronounced sugar-eet) State Park is about 10 miles away. Very nice state park. Lots of history (former coal mining area). Fishing, kayaking, hiking, biking. One camping area is dry camping with fantastic views.

Chief Joseph Park, Harlowton, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped for a night. Made sure we filled our tank with water before pulling into our site, since there is only 1 water spigot in the middle of the campsites. We got a "pull-through" site, because there was no one in the site behind us. They are all actually back-in sites. We were thankful we could pull through, since it had been a long day and we were tired. Our site was very level (not all are), and there was plenty of length for our 37' 5th wheel, so we didn't have to unhook. We stayed in Site #2. They have recently installed new electric hookups - 20, 30 and 50 amp are all available. This is part of a rodeo fairgrounds, so it is a pretty large park, with lots of trees. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Chief Joseph Park in a Fifth Wheel.

North American RV Park & Yurt Village, Coram, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We planned on a week but found there was so much to do at Glacier National Park that we stayed 2 weeks. Staff is very friendly, but we thought the RVers staying there were the friendliest of anywhere we have stayed. Site required one layer of leveling blocks, but setup and hookup was easy. Laundry facilities were very nice, and we never had to wait to use them. People spend the summer there, and a couple leave their RV there all year, but none of the sites looked junky - all clean, with plants and flowers in some. When we come back to Glacier, we will stay here again. We camped at North American RV Park & Yurt Village in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Glacier is so worth the visit. It is easy to spend 2 weeks there Wished we could have stayed longer. Forest fires were a big problem this year because they have had so little rain, but the air where we were was pretty clear until the last couple of days. There were no fire dangers around the campground, and even the days that were smoky weren't a danger to our health.

Cedar Creek RV Park, Montrose, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Were here for 8 days. Friendly hosts, had a lot of fun playing miniature golf with family. We were in a pull-thru, but the sites on either side were so close that our canopy shaded our neighbor's slide. Site was barely long enough for our 37' 5th wheel and dually tow vehicle. Some sites had more space between them, but most appeared to be almost as close together as ours. Met many nice people in park. We enjoyed the area, because there was a lot to see and do. Probably wouldn't stay here again. We camped at Cedar Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Black Canyon of the Gunnison is beautiful! Wish we had time to explore North Side, too. Ouray is a cute town at the base of the mountains, about 45 minutes away. Million Dollar highway is beyond that, going to Silverton. Enjoyed Ridgway State Park, about 20 minutes away. Nice size lake we kayaked, and has very nice picnic areas.

Fort Toulouse-Fort Jackson State Historic Site, Wetumpka, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely setting. Big trees, lots of Spanish Moss. Sites are spacious enough, and most asphalt pads are nice and level. Very quiet. Most sites are large enough for our 37' 5th wheel, but some require you to park your vehicle at a slight angle, to fit in the space. Our space backed up on Lake Coose, which seems to be a popular fishing lake. If we are back in the area, we will definitely stay here again. We camped at Fort Toulouse-Fort Jackson State Historic Site in a Fifth Wheel.

Lots to see and do in the area (including Montgomery, AL, which is about 20 miles away. Lake Coose seems to be a popular fishing area, based on the number of boats we saw.

Crooked River State Park, Saint Marys, Georgia

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Large sites. The one we stayed in was long enough for our 37' 5th wheel and our tow vehicle, plus another 30' or so. We were able to back in far enough that the 5th wheel was partially surrounded by trees, yet still felt very open. Grass sites that were level enough that we only had to use one layer of blocks on one side. The park staff was very friendly and helpful. We camped at Crooked River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

St Marys is a nice, interesting little town. The submarine museum was small, but full of a lot of memorabilia, interesting information and videos. Jekyll Island, north about 25 miles, was a great place to visit. Fascinating history and restored buildings. We will go back there. Enjoyed a guided kayak tour. Boats and kayaks and bicycles available for rental. Several trails for bicycles. Really enjoyed biking there.
