Holiday Travel Park of Chattanooga, Rossville, Georgia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is really a nice campground, very neat and well organized. WiFi is pretty slow (no GIG City internet here), and the dog park is kind of a joke; but it was quiet, the staff were friendly, checkin was easy, nice salt water pool. 10-15 min to get to any of the big Chattanooga attractions. The interior signs street signs are very hard to read at night. They've got newer reflective warning signs, but the street signs themselves are dark and very hard to read with the reflective sign underneath glaring back. We camped at Holiday Travel Park of Chattanooga in a Travel Trailer.

Crossville / I-40 KOA , Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This is a really nice, small KOA. The staff were very friendly, and the place seemed very well run with good facilities. We had two issues here: #1 really bad cockroaches at our site and they got in our trailer. #2 the site was really soggy gravel and we had a hard time getting the leveling pads to stay under the tires while leveling. There had been a lot of rain up to that weekend though. We camped at Crossville / I-40 KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Riverbend RV Park, Lake Toxaway, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is about the only RV park in the Cashiers, NC area. Nice, small park with nice staff. First off, take note of the 7PM cutoff for arrivals. This was a big con for us as we have a long drive and we like to stop and hike on the way in. Coming east, we also loose an hour. I talked to the staff and they offered 7:30 - not really much help. That being said, the staff are very friendly and helpful. They guide you to the spot, help you back in, check in frequently, and site maintenance was top notch. Everything was clean and groomed. There are regular activities, such as a brisket cookout for the whole campground while we were there. I understand they have a running ladies card game, and regular golf outings as well. Sites are small and fairly close together. Our 30' trailer came almost to the road and we had to park the TV sideways. We camped at Riverbend RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Love the Orchard in Cashiers for gourmet dinner - but make reservations. Try Randevu for an excellent breakfast and coffee.

Decatur / Wheeler Lake KOA, Hillsboro, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Staff were very friendly and it seems to be a very neat and quiet KOA right on the water. It's off the beaten path, so no traffic noises at night like most KOA's. Seems to be only 4 sites with full hookups and at least one was a permanent resident, so make reservations ahead of time. Wished we had more time to explore the amenities of this site, but were just passing through. We camped at Decatur / Wheeler Lake KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Fall Creek Falls State Park, Spencer, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is the premier campground in TN, and it's big, and busy. However given all the traffic they have no after-hours checkin policy, unlike other parks that have you call the desk at the Inn (which they do have) there are no instructions on the door or number to call etc. The campground itself is nice: good, tidy sites; individual trash bins, etc. However some of the sites are narrow and so are the camp roads. It was interesting backing our 30' camper into it's spot without being able to swing very wide due to the neighbors being in their spot (but not hanging out into the road at all). The campsites are not level at all, especially front to back. Our site as well as several others required full jack extension to unhook (without any drop down/telescoping) in order to have enough height to retract back in to get level. For our site even 1 drop on the telescoping jack would have been too much. Wifi was a joke (750kbps and 200MB limit for 3 days), but we had excellent Verizon signal at our site. Plenty of good trails, waterfalls, and a nice lake. Good camp store too. Avoid the main falls trail suspension bridge during busy times, it has a 6 person limit and you end up waiting for 30 min for people to cross it slowly and stop to take selfies... We camped at Fall Creek Falls State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Campstore is nice. If you get really bored, drive the 40 miles to Manchester and eat at West Main Brick Oven Pizza. Didn't try the restaurant at the Inn, but it looked like decent food.

Manchester KOA, Manchester, Tennessee

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

It was pouring rain almost the whole weekend we were there, so we didn't get to hang out and enjoy the amenities that the campground had. But everything was very tidy and well kept; and the staff were very friendly and helpful. With the pouring rain some of the sites didn't seem to have good drainage; our site was one that seemed to have a constant 1/4" of water over the gravel throughout the whole site. We camped at Manchester KOA in a Travel Trailer.

West Main Brick Oven Pizza - authentic brick oven pizza with flour imported from Naples Italy! There's a starbucks at the entrance to Campground Rd that's pretty handy.

Cheaha State Park, Delta, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

So, upon arrival there is absolutely no where to park if you are pulling a trailer. The main checkin parking lot is tight to turn around in with a 30' TT when empty, much less when full and busy as it was when we arrived. There's an extra shoulder before the buildings, but if you don't know it's coming you'll miss it and have no options left! They really need to figure out some camper parking for checkin! Something with pull-thrus, there is a good spot right in front of the store that would work great. The campground (lower #2) is in some disrepair. They gave us a gate code which was funny because the gate has clearly been missing for quite some time. The road up into around around the campground needs some repaving. The sites are pretty level, BUT - they are all worn down so far that the sewer hookups stand taller than your trailer connection point! There's no other dump site available that we saw, so unless you get one of the few sites that isn't as worn down you'll just have to figure it out. Campground had WiFi, but it didn't work the whole weekend we were there. Signal was fine, but no internet. The sites are pretty closely packed together, so don't expect much privacy; although the campers were all pretty nice. We camped at Cheaha State Park in a Travel Trailer.

The camp store does have beer and some basic groceries; but there is a really nice Publix in Anniston/Oxford that's worth stopping at for any necessities.

Tim's Ford Marina and Resort, Winchester, Tennessee

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very, very casual site. There are no signs with the after-hours instructions, and if you forgot the site number reserved for you you are out of luck until the next morning. The camp itself is right on the water, but it's an open field with no trees. If you want trees, stay across the street at Tim's Ford St Park. The camp was clean and plenty of room to back in to the spots. The spots are pretty wide and level. Wifi is very slow. We camped at Tim's Ford Marina and Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Edgar Evins State Park, Silver Point, Tennessee

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is very nice and clean, but for the rate they really ought to have sewer hookups. They had newer looking wifi, and I had signal, but the internet was down the whole time we were there. The showers were clean but pretty dated and leaky. Water hookups were not turned on, but the frost proof hydrant at the front was on. Took several hoses to reach, didn't seem like a big deal to have turned on the water for campers using those sites. We camped at Edgar Evins State Park in a Travel Trailer.
