Desert Springs Camping & RV Park, Daggett, California

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

It was just an overnight stay with our 24' travel trailer and so it was fine. It is a gravel rv park with sites fairly close but some separation including some vegetation. The food at the bar on-site was excellent and the people were very nice. We camped at Desert Springs Camping & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Alamo Lake, Wenden, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in a 24' travel trailer for 7 nights. Nice clean park. It is very quiet and we enjoyed campfires, stars, and hearing coyotes and burros every night except for 1 when it rained. Enjoyed bird watching and one in our group had an ATV that provided an opportunity to see a lot of the surrounding area. Took a day to hunt quail in the nearby desert and it was great. Good lake to fish but not so hot in January. Too bad the best eating fish also have mercury warnings! Someone hit a water main the day we were leaving and the water was off. Camp store has essentials available and there is a bar and restaurant only 6 miles away if you are tired of cooking. We camped at Alamo Lake in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

It is a very isolated location so you should come prepared although there is a camp store and bar and restaurant in the area. It is 38 miles from the nearest small town with a dollar store that has everything. Nice and clean park with some hiking trails. It is a little steep in places for biking but there is a vast desert area to explore and enjoy. We saw quail, javelina, burros, deer and many birds.

Tower Point RV Resort (55+ park), Mesa, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Visited friends who were staying there for 3 months and got to experience a 55+ rv resort. Very nice facilities with friendly staff and the people staying there were also friendly. Back-in site had gravel for our 24' camp trailer with a cement driveway to park the truck. It was a little tight to back into because it is a 90 degree back in. Nice resort with lots of activities and heated pools and exercise/recreation/activities available. We camped at Tower Point RV Resort (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.

Tombstone RV Park and Campground, Tombstone, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Nice clean rv park. It is all gravel but not really dusty. It is down in a ravine so there was no tv reception. Park is handy for visiting Tombstone and surrounding area. We can't complain because we got the last available spot in the park without reservations but it was on the end and had to park the truck across the road next to the trailer dump station. We spent 2 nights and visited Bisbee, Douglas, Portal, Cave Creek Canyon Recreation Area and Chiricahua National Monument. RV Park also had propane. We camped at Tombstone RV Park and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Kartchner Caverns State Park, Benson, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Really nice state park with paved trailer parking, electric hook-up and water. Dump station available. Hiking and biking can be done right from the campground. Good area for birding and also saw deer. Not far from Tombstone, Sierra Vista, and other interesting sites. Easy back-in sites and pull-through sites are also available. Cave tours are great and the Bat Cave Restaurant has good breakfast burritos and coffee. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sunbeam Lake RV Resort, El Centro, California

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Only stayed 1 night while passing through in a 24' travel trailer. Spots are easy to back into. They had Bingo night and it was something fun to do for the evening. Close to military airbase and so there is jet and helicopter noise during the day but jets are fun to watch. It was quiet at night and far enough away from I-8 so no road noise was heard from the interstate.

Nice RV resort with on-site activities and scheduled off-site activities for long-term stays. There is a heated pool and a small lake at the park and a county park right next to the rv resort. We camped at Sunbeam Lake RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

South Carlsbad State Beach, Carlsbad, California

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here 2 nights in a travel trailer at site #27 on the ocean side of the park. Had a great view of the ocean and sunsets. The sound of waves crashing on shore drowned out most of the road noise of Highway 1. It was handy to I-5 and the beach is accessible from the campground. The only complaint was that they shut off the water for pressure testing just before check-out time when we needed to dump. They could have waited until after check-out time. We backed the 24' trailer in and could park the truck next to it. We camped at South Carlsbad State Beach in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Great beer on tap and food at The Compass in Carlsbad. Tried surf perch fishing with no luck but had to leave before actual high tide. We showed up at 2 p.m. and checked in without reservations which resulted in us setting up an account on our smart phone. In the future we would make reservations before hand.

Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds), Bishop, California

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We were just passing through on our way from San Diego to Reno and needed a spot overnight. We called just before 5 p.m. and the lady who answered was very nice and told us the office would be closed and gave us directions and how to pay in the morning. It was handy and close enough to several restaurants so we could walk and leave the trailer hooked up to the truck. We had good cell phone coverage and even a couple of tv channels on our antenna. It is a large gravel area and easy to back into. It was just far enough from the highway (395) to be quiet. Slept well and would stay there again. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here for 7 nights in a 24' camp trailer. Sites are roomy with covered picnic tables. Sites are gravel. Park employees are very nice and take pride in keeping the park clean. Great spot to stay in a relatively remote part of Nevada with great hunting and fishing opportunities in the area as well as just sight-seeing. Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Weott, California

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We just pulled in here late on Labor Day on our way to the Oregon Coast with friends who also had a 24' travel trailer. We got two spots. Roads are rather steep but there was sufficient room to back in our trailers and park our trucks. Lots of trees and shade with some huge redwoods in the campground and adjacent areas. Bathrooms were still a mess from the busy 3-day holiday weekend. We drove back south on the Avenue of the Giants about 6 miles to a small town with 1 restaurant that had some of the best food in California! We camped at Humboldt Redwoods State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sunset Bay State Park, Coos Bay, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park in a small canyon that stays pretty cool. There is often morning fog. There is no cell service here but it is available a short drive away. Lots of scenic views and sites in the area. Good crabbing at Charleston. Unfortunately because of wildfires in Oregon, the state park instituted a policy banning campfires in all of Oregon. Although we understand the concern, the state park Director should have made allowances for some of the coastal state parks. With the fog and light rain/mist one couldn't have started a wildfire with gasoline! Park rangers patrol almost constantly. Safe and clean park. We stayed here in a 24' travel trailer for 5 days. It is a nice, clean park with great access to the Oregon coast. There is a nice bike path that leads to town. Overall Rating:

We camped here in a 24' camp trailer for two days. We camped here for a week the year before. It is a very nice Forest Service campground. There are pull-throughs and some of the back-ins have plenty of room. There are unbelievable views with fishing, hiking, backpacking and hunting opportunities available. There are creeks and high mountain lakes for fishing. The campground has water available and vault toilets that are kept clean. The nearest town is the small town of Lamoille about 15 miles away and then there are stores and gas available at Spring Creek and Elko. We camped at Thomas Canyon Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed 2 nights while exploring sites in the area. Handy county park close to town with a trout stream running through camp and picnic table and fire pit. Shade trees at some sites. Sites are back-in. Bridges over the creek. Some interesting walking trails leaving park and leading to town that were lined with rock. Observed native American grinding stones on walk which was interesting to see. Went to movie museum in Lone PIne and Alabama Hills and old Hatchery just north of Independence which was amazing to visit. Awesome old granite construction.
