Lake Griffin State Park, Fruitland Park, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed in this state park for one night. I had reservations. The road through the campground is on the narrow side and it is difficult to back in to some of the sites. I'd be up for a challenge if I was driving a big rig. I think it is doable but be careful which site you choose. The bath houses are adequate but need a deep cleaning. T-Mobile signal okay. Some OTA TV stations available but the major networks are more difficult to receive. I have camped at many of the Florida State Parks. This is not one of my favorites. We camped at Lake Griffin State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Service Park Campground COE, Coffeeville, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $7.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park next to the Tombigbee River. Many of the sites are right next to the river. It is a neat part of the experience to see the boats and barges cruise by. Very clean campground with an attentive volunteer staff. The campground is set in the woods and is very scenic. Lots of space and privacy between sites. Not many OTA TV channels but I imagine satellite TV would be fairly easy in spite of the trees. We had no T-Mobile signal. The campground is kind of remote so take provisions with you. There are a couple of convenience/gas stations nearby but shopping is maybe 20 miles away. We camped at Service Park Campground COE in a Travel Trailer.

Henderson Beach State Park, Destin, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This park is next to US Hwy 98 between the highway and the beach. The beach is about a 1/4 mile walk from the campground along a scenic boardwalk. The campground has many spacious campsites with lots of large pull-through sites. This park seems to be especially popular with big rigs. Super clean bath house. I was able to receive a number of OTA TV stations and my T-Mobile signal was good. The park also had good wifi while I was there. One of my favorite parks. Lots to do around Destin. We camped at Henderson Beach State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park, Niceville, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground and park next to the water. The campground loop is set in the trees and within walking distance of the water. Lots of different sites to choose from with space between sites and plenty of privacy. Some of the sites could be a bit tricky to back into with large rigs but it can be done. Very clean bath house. Three interesting hiking trails and kayaks for rent. Received a few OTA TV channels and T-Mobile coverage is good. Close to shopping and restaurants. Great staff of park rangers and volunteers. We camped at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lake Tawakoni State Park, Wills Point, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We found this park fairly nice but didn't see much of it as we only stayed one night for a stopover. The campsites are set in a wooded area and have good spacing and privacy. There is a bathhouse with four family-style bathrooms that serve 46 campsites in the White Deer Reach camping loop. That means that some campsites are a long walk from the bathhouse. This park is a little difficult to find as there is not good signage from the nearby Hwy 751. We camped at Lake Tawakoni State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Copper Breaks State Park, Quanah, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at the Comanche campground for two nights in November. The park is 14 miles south of Quanah. The campground itself has nice campsites with good spacing. The campground was not full while we were there so there were plenty of open spaces and privacy. Each campsite has a picnic table which is under a teepee-like structure. The one bathhouse was clean. There are some nice trails around the area and the park headquarters has an interesting museum. I was able to get a few OTA TV channels but my T-Mobile coverage was very marginal. We camped at Copper Breaks State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent RV park for a short stay in Amarillo. It is a clean, well-run, RV park. There is cable TV included but there are also a number of OTA channels that come in very clearly. Strong T-Mobile signal. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Cane Creek State Park, Star City, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a little out of the way if traveling through the area but I thought it was well worth the detour. The campsites are well-spaced with plenty of shade and some nice views. There's a lake there which is pretty scenic. We did not use any of the hiking trails. A walk around the campground loop was pleasant I was able to receive some OTA TV channels and my T-Mobile phones worked okay. We camped at Cane Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Aux Arc COE , Ozark, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice Army Corps of Engineers campground. It is about 3 miles south of I-40 so it makes for a great stop-over. The campsites have water and a choice of 30 and 50 amp electric. There are a lot of trees and the sites are typically well-spaced for good privacy. The sites have an asphalt driveway and a gravel area for the picnic table and fire ring. I was able to receive excellent T-Mobile service and a few OTA TV stations. We camped at Aux Arc COE in a Travel Trailer.

Poverty Point Reservoir State Park, Delhi, Louisiana

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

I have stayed at this state park before and came back because I know it's a good one. There are full hook up sites as well as sites with water and electric only for $5.00 less. The bathrooms are relatively clean and there is a kid's water play area on the site. There is some nice scenery and a few nice hiking trails. The campsites are well spaced with a lot of privacy. We had good over-the-air TV and T-Mobile coverage. We camped at Poverty Point Reservoir State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Hillsborough River State Park, Thonotosassa, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Only stayed one night prior to dropping the travel trailer off at the nearby Lazy Days RV in Seffner for service. The campground has three loops as noted on Reserve America. Each loop has a bath house. The bath houses are reasonably clean but a little on the older side. Went for a walk around the three campground loops. It is a pleasant campground with lots of trees, etc. Many sites are close together so choose your site carefully if privacy is important to you. The park looks like it has many good hiking and biking areas. We camped in site #67. It was plenty long enough for my 28' TT and tow vehicle without disconnecting. We had excellent OTA TV reception from Tampa. Cell phone service was also good (T-Mobile). We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

O'Leno State Park, High Springs, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We explored both campgrounds loops while we were here. As already stated in other reviews, the Magnolia loop is easier to navigate with larger rigs and has larger campsites. The Dogwood loop is closer to the entrance and is suitable for tent camping and smaller rigs. This park has some nice hiking trails. There are also places to ride bikes. This is another nice Florida State Park. It is reasonably close to I-75. I would certainly go back again. We camped at O'Leno State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of High Springs has a supermarket and some restaurants. Lake City, 20 miles to the north, is much larger with all the modern conveniences. There are lots of natural springs all around this area. There are many opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, etc.

Faver-Dykes State Park, St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

I would read the review from June 2017 if I had a big rig. This park's campground is at the end of a 2 or 3 mile fairly-narrow dirt road. The road around the campground loop is also narrow but there are plenty of rigs that navigate through it without trouble. I was able to get my 28' TT and tow vehicle into a 35' campsite without any trouble and parked without disconnecting. The park has a day-use area and a boat launch. The boating in Pellicer Creek looked really nice. The campground will be under renovation beginning in February so there will be no camping there until summer. Hopefully the bath house will be renovated because it needs it. The campsites themselves are pretty nice with good privacy between sites. There are a couple of nice hiking trails that are near the campground. The park staff was friendly and helpful. We camped at Faver-Dykes State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Manatee Springs State Park, Chiefland, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is another nice Florida State Park. The campground has three areas. Magnolia 1 is the most modern area with FHU and a modern bath house. We stayed in the Hickory camping area which was also nice. All campsites have reasonable spacing and have plenty of shade. We enjoyed the spring area and the boardwalk out to the Suwannee River. The entire area is very peaceful and scenic. I would give the campground a higher overall rating except the bath house we used (Hickory loop) was old and not very clean. I get the impression that the staff is not paying enough attention to this situation. We camped at Manatee Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.
