Manatee Springs State Park, Chiefland, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is another nice Florida State Park. The campground has three areas. Magnolia 1 is the most modern area with FHU and a modern bath house. We stayed in the Hickory camping area which was also nice. All campsites have reasonable spacing and have plenty of shade. We enjoyed the spring area and the boardwalk out to the Suwannee River. The entire area is very peaceful and scenic. I would give the campground a higher overall rating except the bath house we used (Hickory loop) was old and not very clean. I get the impression that the staff is not paying enough attention to this situation. We camped at Manatee Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Chiefland is approximately 6 miles east of the park. I was able to receive a couple of OTA TV stations from Gainesville but reception was marginal at best. T-Mobile coverage was available but marginal.

Beaver Dam Campground / Caney Lakes Recreation Area, Minden, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful location on the lake but the campground bathroom facilities need a good scrub and re-do. The campsites are mostly back-in with good spacing and privacy between sites. The road through the campground is narrow but not a problem if you are careful. This campground is off the beaten path and was an enjoyable outdoor experience. However, because of the bathroom facilities I would look around at other public campgrounds in the area before I went back to this one. We camped at Beaver Dam Campground / Caney Lakes Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Veranda Inn and RV Park, Nocona, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Choice of concrete pad sites or gravel sites. Concrete sites were slightly more $ per night. The gravel sites were slightly sloped but not a problem. The park is small but clean and more than adequate for a short stay. Bath house and laundry areas were clean. Good cable TV and wifi. We camped at Veranda Inn and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived after office had closed. A note outside said to choose an unreserved site and check in later. There were plenty of open sites to choose from. Most sites are wide, pull-through sites with FHU, tables, and good spacing. Bathrooms were especially clean. Did not use the hot-tub but it looked good. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Glendo State Park, Glendo, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice state park with some beautiful countryside. There are a number of campgrounds. I believe there are over 500 campsites total. Many of the campsites have shade and a good amount of space in-between sites. Others not so much. Most of the campsites do not have hook-ups. I'm guessing that less than 20% of the sites have an electrical hook-up but no water. A few fresh water points are scattered around and there is fresh water at the one dump station the park has. There are no shower facilities. There are vault toilets in all of the campgrounds. The park is big. The reservoir is beautiful and many boaters enjoy it. There are lots of nice mountain bike trails. Cell phone coverage was spotty for me (T-Mobile). I got a weak signal in the lower areas through Union Telephone. It was much better around higher ground. Service seemed better overall from Verizon. I was able to receive a PBS station OTA. We camped at Glendo State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Make sure you are stocked up on fuel and supplies when you get here. Shopping in the small town of Glendo is extremely limited. There is a gas station/convenience store and another small store in Glendo. The store at the park marina has limited supplies and food.

Trinidad Lake State Park, Trinidad, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground although many campsites are small in length and not level. Some sites have trees for shade but many are out in the open. Read the other reviews about water. You can fill fresh water in the day use area by the restrooms. We camped at Trinidad Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Orchard RV Ranch (55+ park), Dewey, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Nice short-term RV spaces with good separation between sites. This is a quiet park (55+) with FHU, cable tv, picnic tables, privacy walls, and shade trees. Friendly staff and clean restrooms. We would stay here again. We camped at Orchard RV Ranch (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.

Triple J RV Park, Russell, Kansas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The Good: Management is friendly and helpful - was shown to the camping spot and about the utilities. Close to I-70, excellent cable TV with quite a few channels, good water, electric, and sewer connections. Large coin laundry on site, individual bathrooms next to laundry room were clean. The Bad: Campground has kind of a junky appearance to it. There are a number of old, stored RVs on site. Campsites were somewhat small and might be Jack & Jill parking style if the park filled up. Bath house was closed, but there were individual bathrooms in the laundry area. Would I camp there again? Probably not. We camped at Triple J RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rickwood Caverns State Park, Warrior, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Small campground with sites that are close together and gently sloped. We stayed for two nights and were practically by ourselves the second night. Lots of trees, and places to stroll. The bathroom facilities are modern and clean. The showers are the family, individual type rooms. The park staff is friendly and professional. The roads from I-65 are somewhat narrow with plenty of curves. The park roads are also narrow. I'd say this is not the place for larger rigs. We have a 27' TT and it was difficult to get it parked in the site. We camped at Rickwood Caverns State Park in a Travel Trailer.
