Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA), Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a little jewel in the middle of west Texas. After traveling across I20 from South Carolina we started to think that good RV parks were impossible to find. All the previous comments are accurate. Add to them that they have on site propane, nice to have when the temps have been well below freezing and we were getting low. We love having the cafe on site as well. Food is good home style stuff, beer and wine available (as well as in the store). If you have a long rig they have some VERY long sites. We WILL stop here again. I'll plan our trips with it in mind. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Pavilion RV Park, West Monroe, Louisiana

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Overnight stay. Very cold. Did not unhook. Site just long enough. Easy enough to navigate through. Gravel throughout. Same as previous reviews. Not much to look at but it works. Seems like they are trying to fix it back up but facilities are a mess. No cable, no wifi. Not really much of a place to walk the dog. We might consider another park if we go through again, but, not much to choose from. We camped at Pavilion RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Camping World - Good Sam Campground of Oxford, Anniston, Alabama

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Overnight stop. Very cold that week. We filled tanks and disconnected from water and sewer. Did not need to unhook from trailer. Very easy to get around. Few trees. Campground was all gravel but level and well kept. Dog run available and nice areas to walk dog. Camping World is short walk (200yds). Staff very nice. We'd stay here again. We camped at Camping World - Good Sam Campground of Oxford in a Fifth Wheel.

Riverside Campground & Resort, Sevierville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here a week. Great park and staff were outstanding. Very quiet. We were parked in the area for larger rigs but had the trees at the end of the park to provide shade. Really nice. Sites were level gravel with grass area and raised concrete patio pad. Utilities were good. WiFi was even good until everyone got on in the evening. Roads gravel and nice access, even for the largest rigs. Plenty of room for trailer and tow vehicle or MH and toad. The only thing I could find 'wrong' was the dog area was not fenced in. There are nice little spots along the river for sitting and fireplaces. They even have private fishing access to the river. Easy in and out with a traffic light at TN66. Only five minutes from I40. Gas station with diesel on the corner. We camped at Riverside Campground & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Weston Lake Recreation Area (Military FamCamp), Fort Jackson Army Post, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We are staying here long term as we visit our daughter's family. This is simply wonderful. A bit off the highway for an overnight stay, but, great for longer. About 10 minutes from some major shopping area (Target, Lowes, grocery stores, fast food, auto shops, etc). The concrete pads and space to get in to them is great. Roads have quite a few pot holes but not bad. Just drive slow. Spaces are great, plenty of room between pads and many trees. We are considering making this our winter home base. Staff are nice as well. We camped at Weston Lake Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Nashville East / Lebanon KOA, Lebanon, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We stay at this KOA on every trip we make on I40 out this way. One of the better KOA's. Pool was very clean and welcoming. Roads are gravel and not smooth but are easy to maneuver. Spaces are just far enough apart to be comfortable. You may need some extra blocks to level the rig as they are not perfect. Dog park is nice size and convenient. Staff is great. Our fifth wheel is 35ft and plenty of room to unhook and park or leave it hooked up for the night. We camped at Nashville East / Lebanon KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Hacienda RV Resort, Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Yes, we are long term here, several months. There are quite a few full/long term people, but, we keep the spaces neat so we don't make the place look dumpy. The folks here have been gracious and cheerful. The staff keep the spaces very nice. Yes, like many parks, the sites are gravel, but, large enough to park your truck/toad with your rig easily. Also very easy to maneuver in the park. I've never liked picnic tables or fire pits in RV parks so glad they don't have them. I love the fences/shrubs between the spaces too. The dog run is great as are the other grassy areas around the park to walk the dog. Good for when it rains and the run gets muddy (doesn't rain here very often :) ). The laundry room is excellent and we never use the showers or restrooms at RV parks. The location is very convenient to several nice restaurants, Old Town Mesilla, an RV dealer, and a Walmart. Noise is not bad considering how close to I-10 it is. We will stay here every time we visit the family. FWIW, it is far and away the best park in town. We camped at Hacienda RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Las Cruces KOA, Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We wanted to stay here for a couple of months but the manager would not allow it. No reason given. So, we stayed a week and left. The site location has a beautiful view of the surrounding area and that alone is worth it for a short stay. During spring and monsoon season expect STRONG winds, 40mph is not unusual in this area. The park is well kept, all gravel. Our site was level. Dog run area was a nice size. Decent space to maneuver and enough space to park truck next to trailer or leave it hooked up. The location is quite a ways from any stores or restaurants. We would overnight here again if wind isn't blowing. We camped at Las Cruces KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
