Chicago Northwest KOA, Union, Illinois

Date of Stay: May, 2008 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for holiday weekend. Nice, clean park. Operators were friendly, and VERY watchful. We would stay again here over other parks in area. They could use a gameroom for the kids... We camped at Chicago Northwest KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice, clean state park. Peaceful and quiet. Loved watching the barges on the river. Park hosts were friendly and watchful of the surroundings. Bring your own water though...it tastes/smells HORRIBLE here. We camped at Illini State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort, Marengo, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2007 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

We just got back from Lehmans RV Resort in Marango...REALLY disappointed. The place looks nothing like the web site, the pics are of the private gated permanent sites, not regular rentals. We got put out in the open with no trees, lake or creek. A general store the size of my trailer, and a 'game room' with 3 games (with 1 not working) Also,(I know they cant help this because of recent rain), but the place was submerged-soaking wet. They are expanding with another 30 sites...they NEED to spend money on the facilities. The playground needs work. They have a fishing lake, and the nearest place to buy bait is about 10 miles away! Also nearby I-90 was quite loud. We will not go back again, and I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. Oh well...better than sitting around the house. We camped at Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Timber Lake Resort, Mount Carroll, Illinois

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here as part of a group. VERY impressed! Sites are huge, well maintained. All the buildings are new. The owner actually stopped at our site to introduce himself. The CG was condemed several years ago and this new owner has done a great job of getting it back into shape. Would definitely go back again. We camped at Timber Lake Resort in a Motorhome.

Hickory Hollow Campground, Utica, Illinois

Date of Stay: September, 2006 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Small, but cozy and clean. The store and game room was really nice and the pool was clean. Although it is just off of I-80, really didn't hear the traffic. We also had a visit by 'Patty', the roaming park deer. The kids loved the fact that she came right up to our campsite to beg. Really liked this CG and would go back again. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.
