A true hidden gem. Quiet, level, spacious sites with FHU. Pristine surroundings including the lake where one can fish (no license required). Bobby Trent Jones Trail golf course close by. Moody Beach RV Campground, Wells, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Treed but cable available for a fee. Entry sign is there but is partially obscured by an amusement site sign and only visible at the last moment. Site had a large stump on the side of the entrance that should not have been there. No grass. We camped at Moody Beach RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Gateway to Cape Cod Campground, Rochester, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Natural setting. Roads rutted. Major water puddle outside our coach for the duration of the stay. Sand everywhere. Cable not offered, tall tress obscured satellite views except for a few sites (not ours). Over-the-air channels limited to 7 (CBS and 6 oddball). Entry road SEVERELY pot-holed. We hooked up after our stay well outside the park. We will not return. We camped at Gateway to Cape Cod Campground in a Motorhome.

Convenient to transportation to Boston. Major shopping mall within 15 minutes. Martha's Vineyards, Plymouth, Newport, R.I. are also nearby. This is the real saving grace for this RV park.

Northern Rockies Lodge , Muncho Lake, British Columbia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Gorgeous lodge on the lake. RV park gravel and dirt which turned to packed mud after rain. We left two days early because the nominal 30A power is not stable. Our money was graciously refunded. Stay here if you are not all-electric. By-pass if you are. We camped at Northern Rockies Lodge in a Motorhome.

Golden Nugget RV Park, Anchorage, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This essentially is a trailer park. It has two sections. One more refined and the other (where we were sited) a dump. 80% of the sites in the dump are occupied by full time residents who seem to not be required to follow the rules. Sites are close and gravel but the full hookups worked well. Good news? Costco is right across the street and Fred Meyers and Wal-Mart are two miles away. Relatively easy to access. We had reserved a second stay on the return from the Kenai Peninsula but have cancelled to go on to Willow on our way to Denali. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are two Costco stores in town. The one across the street is not as well stocked as the one just off Old Seward Highway on the way south. That one has easy in for fuel (diesel was $2.27 a gallon on July 10, 2017). Another Fred Myers and well-populated mall are also nearby.

Downtown RV Park, Watson Lake, Yukon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a convenient overnight stop on the Alaska Highway. It is a gravel parking lot with FHU. Dusty in dry weather and muddy in wet. Everything worked as advertised and a self-service RV/car wash is available. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Motorhome.

Meziadin Provincial Park, Meziadin Junction, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is another gem. Directly off the main highway with sites directly on this very large lake. Sites were nearly level but the view overcame this deficiency. The down side was mosquitoes. They were everywhere except out on the water. We could not sit out at night. Beware, this is an electric-only park. NO water and no sewer. Minimal WiFi and no cell service. We camped at Meziadin Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

The value of this park is its proximity to Stewart, BC, Hyder, AK the Bear Glacier and Salmon Glacier. The 40 mile drive on Hwy 37A to these locations is magnificent; one rarely get so close to such rugged mountains.

A pleasant surprise hidden in the mountains off RT 37. Spacious sites, nearly level with great views of the lake and mountain range beyond. Owners are very helpful (been there 24 years). Walk down to the lake. The property is apparently owned by another party and part of the lake serves as a private seaplane port.

We parked near the lake and had plenty of room. FHU but management does not allow the grey drain to remain open. Lots of room and interesting walking in the neighborhood. We camped at Robert's Roost RV Park in a Motorhome.

Acacia Grove RV Park, Spences Bridge, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are tight and not quite level. Some have trees so close as to prevent extending slides. The managers, while friendly, assigned two of our rigs to sites we could not use. The branches were so close, one got scratched attempting to get in. Management was very good about allowing us to move but is the park had been full, the experience would not have been good. We camped at Acacia Grove RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Pleasant RV Park, Bothell, Washington

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean, comfortable and scenic park. Many sites (ours included) back right onto the lake. Geese populate the area but are not offensive. A rigorous nature track circumvents the park. Take your time. This park also provides a storage area for RVs and vehicles for $10.00 per night. We took a cruise out of Seattle and used the service for 7 days. Great deal. We camped at Lake Pleasant RV Park in a Motorhome.

Skyline Wilderness Park, Napa, California

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We re in the midst of two-week stay. Location is wonderful and there are numerous hiking/biking trails in the park. Some are challenging. FHU sites are a little cramped for 40+ footers but doable. Ditto the electric/water only. Gravel and mostly level. Picnic tables on each site and a single communal fire pit. California is very strict about open fires. The staff are all very helpful and we would stay here again. Beware though the 14-day limit is not negotiable. We camped at Skyline Wilderness Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Wineries of course but don't slight those in the Sonoma area. Less expensive there in all categories. If you want some $8.00 per pound asparagus or $40.00 per pound sea scallops a visit to the Oxbow Market in Napa is a must. In case you are not so inclined, WalMart and other stores are available. Next door is a location Diners, Driveins and Dives Guy Fieri visited. Expensive now of course.
