Vines RV Resort, Paso Robles, California

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nicely maintained park on the outskirts of Paso Robles. The park is close to Hwy 101 and there are train tracks nearby. The entry/exit road was a bit tight. We camped at Vines RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tonopah RV, Tonopah, Nevada

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $35.00

This is a small park along US-6/95 associated with a motel on the outskirts of Tonopah, Nevada, with several full hookup pull-thrus. This park makes a decent overnight stop while heading across Nevada. We camped at Tonopah RV in a Motorhome.

Earl Warren Showgrounds RV Park, Santa Barbara, California

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

This a basically a parking lot with RV hookups at the back of each spot. But since RV parking options right in Santa Barbara are very limited, we were glad this was available as we needed to spend some time in the city. The RV camping may not be available during major showground events. We camped at Earl Warren Showgrounds RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cachuma Lake Recreation Area, Santa Barbara, California

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

While the setting with the surrounding mountains is great, the California drought and aging facilities diminish the experience. There are only a handful of 50A hookup sites and most of the 30A hookup sites need refurbishment. Many of the sites with concrete pads have cracking and crumbling concrete. Most of the W+E sites are basically dirt. The best time to visit is probably mid winter to late spring. On our recent stay, vegetation was drying out and the ground squirrel population had exploded. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Rincon Parkway Campground, Ventura, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is not your usual RV park and is hard to rate. This is a very popular campground and is often full. No reservations are taken. There are no utilities, but the main plus of this park is having the Pacific Ocean right out your door. You must park your RV parallel to the sea-wall, which we find helps us in not noticing rigs parked in front of or behind us. All sites are 45' long and are a tight fit for very large RVs with a tow or towed vehicle. The sites are between the sea-wall and the old coastal highway. Train tracks run along the other side of the road and US-101 is just inland and above the tracks, so you may hear trains and some traffic above the sound of the surf. We camped at Rincon Parkway Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The city of Ventura for shopping and dining is a few miles away. Santa Barbara is about 20 miles up the coast. There are usually shore birds at the water's edge. We usually see dolphins swim by at least once a day. During migration season Gray Whales may be spotted further off shore. Sunsets from here are often very nice.

Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground, Buellton, California

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice and well kept park. But they have been doing a lot of development and have no competition in the immediate area, so their prices reflect that. They have instituted a three week stay limit and are phasing out their long term residents. The park is next to US-101, so some sites have more traffic noise than others. We camped at Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Jones Station RV Park, Mebane, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fairly new park in a nice rural location near Mebane, NC. They have a mix of back-in and pull-through full hookup sites. There are several sites that can handle long rigs. The roads and sites are all gravel with minor grades in some sites. There are lots of trees in and around the park. The park-provided wifi varied from slow to good. There was a fair Verizon cell signal available. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We camped at Jones Station RV Park in a Motorhome.
