St Lucie South COE, Stuart, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Small COE campground next to the St. Lucie locks. Spacious sites with concrete pads. No sewer but convenient dump station. Close to I95 - we use it for an en route overnight stop, usually. Few activities. We camped at St Lucie South COE in a Motorhome.

Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA), Staunton, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Pulled off thruway for overnight stay. Beautiful setting in hills. The sites they use for transient parking are well back in the park. Roads to the sites are narrow and in need of trimming back (these are big rig sites). Our site was not very level...ended up having to use blocks under a rear pair of tires. Hookups ok. We did get satellite reception. We camped at Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA) in a Motorhome.

Fayetteville RV Resort (formerly Fayetteville / Wade KOA), Wade, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Here for just an overnight pull thru. Well maintained park with 2 pools. Transient site was spacious and level and hookups close by. Couldn't get satellite due to adjacent tree but cable included and was decent. Lots of long term residents in the other park section. Convenient to I95. We camped at Fayetteville RV Resort (formerly Fayetteville / Wade KOA) in a Motorhome.

West Thompson Lake COE, North Grosvenordale, Connecticut

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Small 24 sites, 11 w water and electric, campground by COE Lake. 1 1/2 hour to Boston. Sites are large, level and wooded. Hosts friendly and helpful. Downsides include no 50 amp electric and no sewer. Dump station is dated and difficult to use. We camped at West Thompson Lake COE in a Motorhome.

Country Oaks RV Park & Campground, Kingsland, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Small campground close to I95. Most sites seem to be long term. There are about a dozen pull thrus for transients (us). Site was adequate for overnight. Hookups easy to reach. Roads are paved and a bit tight, but not scary. Pads are gravel and seem mostly level. Bathrooms and showers basic, but clean. Lots of trees and a small pond. No amenities. No cable or WiFi but we had no trouble with satellite and Verizon. Good evernight stop. 34' Class A towing. We camped at Country Oaks RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, Micanopy, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

State park campground about 8 miles south of Gainesville, FL. Beautiful park. The campground is densely wooded and road is narrow. We were able to get to our site in a 34' motorhome with a bit of weaving and dodging. Quite a few larger 5th wheels here and a tag axle Class A, so it is doable. The sites are large and very private due to trees. Water and electric conveniently located. No way you will get satellite but good enough variety of OTA stations. NB campground will close 15 July 18 for renovations. Reopening date not known. We camped at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park in a Motorhome.

Wickham Park Campground, Melbourne, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Large county park in a residential area with a college campus and performing arts center adjacent on the north. Road access is good. Sites are of random size, some large, some tight. Hookups (full) seem to also vary in location from site to site. Site surface is sand/dirt/grass and some seem a bit lumpy. Many sites occupied by long stay seasonal campers. We were there for 3 nights. Would come back for another concert. 34' Motorhome. We camped at Wickham Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Springfield Campground COE, Anderson, South Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Large lakeside COE campground with huge sites, most with direct lake access. Roads are paved and clear. Most sites have shade. We were on a double site at $26 a night (single site would have been $13). Good water and 50 amp electric. Trees make satellite reception spotty. We camped at Springfield Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Warriors Path State Park, Kingsport, Tennessee

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is older with paved roads as well as most sites. The roads are a bit narrow but clear of branches and obstructions. Unhook your toad at entrance. We had no trouble driving a 34' class A around the main loop. Choose sites carefully, many are small. However, the online reservation sit allows you to filter a search by site and amperage. Peaceful, shaded. One negative, the camp store/office is only open on weekends. During the week the marina staff covers campground logistics - they were decidedly unhelpful. We camped at Warriors Path State Park in a Motorhome.

Magnolia RV Park and Campground, Kinards, South Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We were here just on overnight but got in early enough to enjoy the park. Large sites, ours was pull thru, easy hookups. We opted for shade vs satellite access due to 90+ temps. Probably could have connected with the portable but didn't bother. The pool is very nice. Only downside are dusty interior roads. We camped at Magnolia RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Larry & Penny Thompson Park & Campground, Miami, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is an urban park just south of Miami adjacent to the Miami zoo. It is well laid out with circular pods and spacious sites. There is quite a bit of shade which is especially nice in the summer. There are large grassy areas between the pods. There is a pool, but only open on weekends. The pads are asphalt and somewhat rough - they are narrow but adequate. It can be tight getting in and out of the pad due to the trees. Hookups are fine. Wifi is spotty. We camped in a 34' motorhome. We camped at Larry & Penny Thompson Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Lakeview RV Park, Bluff City, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

"Lakeview" is a misnomer. The park sits across the road from a TVA river/lake which while we were there was at low level with no water access. The park is near Bristol Motor Speedway and this seems to be it main reason for existence. WiFI was listed as available but we were in a site far from the office and had no reception. Cable is ok. Site was level and unshaded. Small dog run is nice. We camped at Lakeview RV Park in a Motorhome.

Seagull Marina and RV campground, Two Rivers, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is part of a marina complex and is surrounded on 2 sides by rivers and on one side by Lake Michigan. Many of the sites are semi permanent or seasonal. We have camped her 3 times while visiting family in the area. Each time we were in a level grass site down near the lake. Beautiful views. Decent WiFi. Great for an overnight stay. Close to I65 with pull through FH sites. Has a dog run, and a playground. Quite a few sites seem permanent. Pull through are closely spaced but long enough for our 34' MH and motorcycle trailer. We camped at KV'S RV Camping and Storage in a Motorhome.

C.B. Smith Park, Pembroke Pines, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a Broward County park in the midst of a busy suburban area southwest of Ft. Lauderdale. A great place to stay if you have things you want to do in the area. Surrounded by plenty of shopping and restaurants. The best sites for big rigs are the north sites 61-83. Level, reasonable spacious and many overlook a small lake. This area, however, has very little shade. Shaded sites have smaller pads and are not as level. There is more space between those sites, however. Full hook up a reasonable $30 per night. We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Motorhome.
