Fox Lake Campground, Bemidji, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Park is nice right next to a chain of lakes. Owners are also very nice. The site was level with a good view of the lake but pretty tight. The weekend was busy and I had to move my truck so a 5th wheel could pull into the site next to me. The site was a pull in, back out. I'd never seen that before. We camped at Fox Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Kayaking, biking and hiking are all easily available. Be careful when they tell you to 'bike around Bemidji lake'. The are no signs to guide and you have to switch from road to trail to highway. Play house had an excellent play. The actors did an outstanding job. Visitors center in Bemidji was very helpful and provided a lot of good info.

Grand Portage Lodge and Casino, Grand Portage, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Park is on a hill overlooking a bay on Lake Superior. Very nice view from some sites ($40 with view, $35 without). No trees but mostly grass with gravel sites. Sites are adequate but nothing to write home about. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Kayaking was phenomenal, hiking had breathing views of waterfalls and flora. Biking is available all over the place but we lacked the time to partake. There is a casino nearby but we didn't go in so no idea how that is. A must do is to visit the Grand Portage Monument. Lots of history here and it is well presented. Grand Marais (pronounced Ma-ray) is 30 miles away and is a really neat little town with a nice coffee shop, shopping, and often has festivities planed.

Tips for other Campers:

Nice 5 mile bike ride on paved bike trail to the old Dutch town of Pella. It is a fun place and caters to tourists with coffee shops, shopping, and really nice bike shop if repairs are needed. Be sure to see the working wind mill in the old down town. It is an exact replication of a real one a actually built by a Dutch company. The clock downtown is fun to watch as it displays 8 different carved puppets when it rings.

Oil Creek Family Campground, Titusville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Road getting here is dirt and a steep hill at the last but certainly do-able. Park itself is well maintained with lots of kid friendly things to do. They certainly try to make things enjoyable for families with younger children. The sites are dirt but electric and water and sewer are available. We set up in the rain so it was mostly mud. NOTE: there are posts indicating the site number. I spent too much time trying to jockey the trailer to the side so the slides wouldn't hit them. The posts are made to easily come out and can be laid down to accommodate slides. We camped at Oil Creek Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Go to Titusville to the Warners bakery! Besides having the most delicious confections, the owners, Larry and Kathy, know everything about the area and love to talk to people about it. They guided us to some of the most wonderful places. The old, well kept mansions on Main street are a must to see.

Chestnut Ridge Park, Bruceton Mills, West Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Well kept and clean park. The sites are a little tight to back in to so those with large rigs may have some issues. It is surrounded by state parks with lots of hiking trails. The parks are all large, hard wood trees and is a joy to walk. I saw biking paths in town as well. There are lots of things to do in the the area and plenty of restaurants for dining if you choose to go out. Roads in the park were a little tight but certainly navigable with my truck and 31 foot trailer. We camped at Chestnut Ridge Park in a Travel Trailer.

Williamsburg Campark (formerly Williamsburg Pottery Campground), Williamsburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Older park in need of maintenance. It works fine for a visit to the historical cities nearby. Sites themselves are ok, the grass is mowed and hookups are easily accessible. Some are under trees but most in open fields. Showers, laundry, LP fill station and pavillion all are non functional. We camped at Williamsburg Campark (formerly Williamsburg Pottery Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Littcarr Campground - COE, Vicco, Kentucky

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

They have both full hookup and elec/water only sites. Camp is exceptionally clean and well cared for. Tables are the new coated metal kind. Hosts were very helpful and fun to speak with. Right next to the water so kayaking and canoeing have easy access. There is a long hiking trail at the end of the "B" loop. Extraordinary springs and streams coming down the mountain. Really like this place. We camped at Littcarr Campground - COE in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Beautiful setting right on Truman lake. Very quite and dark at night so the night sky can be enjoyed. There is a boat ramp, beach and some new sites that have water. The woods are beautiful and the morning sunrises breathtaking. We camped at Thibaut Point Public Use Area in a Travel Trailer.

I-75 Camper Village, Dry Ridge, Kentucky

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

They charge $40 and claim they accept Escapees club. When asking for the discount, they said they normally charge $50 but will give it to me for $40. Had to share power pedestal with next camper. They had plugged into the 30A, so I had to use the 50A. The place is poorly maintained, loose dogs were nipping at my heels as I tried to set up and the site was way too small for my trailer causing a difficult time pulling in and worse pulling out. Way overcharging for what is provided. We camped at I-75 Camper Village in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed there month. Staff was exceptional in keeping the park clean and cared for. They were very attentive to any request we had. It is on 640 acres with a very nice waking/jogging trail that is about 2.5 miles long. We camped at Catherine's Landing in a Travel Trailer.
