Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA), Staunton, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

This was one of the cleanest, best kept parks that I have ever seen. The owners take pride in the park appearance. I the pool was perfect. My site was not very level side to side, it was about 4 inches off. However, it was very long so there may have been a more level spot to pick inside of my spot. The interior roads were narrow, but even the largest rig could have navigate the roads if they take it slow. We camped at Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Seashore Campsites & RV Resort, Cape May, New Jersey

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

As with every Park there is both positive and negative to be found. The Positive included: very friendly staff, well maintained park, clean pool and man made swimming lake. The negatives included: My site needed trees trimmed. I had a hard time getting my slides and awning out. Need to add quarter to take a shower in the bath house. However, the largest concern was with the power. It was very hot and the voltage on the 50 amp power would drop too low (below 104v) and my camper's EMS would disconnect power as it is designed to protect my appliances, and I would lose power. I had service come check but, as normal it was not low when they were there. It continued doing this, so I switched to the 30 amp socket and did not get as much of a drop, I just had to monitor what I was running. We camped at Seashore Campsites & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We found that the beach at North Wildwood was nice. We got there around 10AM and could park on the street right at the beach ($2/hr). The beaches at Cape May charge $6 per day and also pay for parking and we like the North Wildwood Beach better. However, the closer you get to the boardwalk in Wildwood the more crowded it will be. The boardwalk was fun for one evening.

Delaware Seashore State Park, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice campground if you are looking to go to the beach. No other amenities to speak of. If you get a heavy rain many camp sites on the south side will flood. No shade at all. They do have large community fire rings but not allowed to have a fire at your site. I had site 299 a pull through on the end. It was nice to have extra space on the Off Door Side, but due to the layout my actual site was shorter than others along my row. If you are 40ft or longer you may not want to pick this particular site number. Great water pressure. Many spots on the North Side appear to have a better view of the water way and I don't believe they have the flooding issues that we had. We camped at Delaware Seashore State Park in a Travel Trailer.

A very nice, very well maintained park. Open with very little shade, so it may get warm in the summer. There is a nice river near by for wadding or floating. Very close to Luray Caverns. We camped at Outlanders River Camp in a Travel Trailer.

Lums Pond State Park, Bear, Delaware

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Most of the spots are around a large open field with very few trees. There are a couple of sites that have a view of the lake. All sites appear to be paved with Full Hookups. My site was close to being level, only about 1" off side to side. My site did not have a good area for the picnic table close to the fire ring. Some one had moved it to the off door side, but I never like to eat right next to my sewer connection. Most other sites looked like they had better room for their table. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Point Lookout State Park, Scotland, Maryland

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

I have stayed here twice in the last month (Sites 80 and 63). Both were great sites, but I liked 63 the most. It had tons of room to spread out and no close neighbors. They only have 1 FHU loop (Tulip) but a couple of others with power only. The FHU loop is back in the woods with some of the other loops having a nice water view. Since it was just starting to get warm there were not too many bugs, but the warmest night (high 60s) we did see a few mosquitos and as it get warm with all the standing water around the sites, you will need to bring plenty of repellent. We camped at Point Lookout State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Ocean Lakes Family Campground, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This is a Large Campground and the first this size that we have ever stayed at. Most sites are pull through, but many roads are somewhat narrow and with the way others park their tow vehicles, you may need to jockey around a little, but it not awful. Campground was very clean and so were bath houses. Well patrolled by security. Trash pick up at site every day, but no dumpsters to use if needed at other times. During the warm season they have a nice water park complex that kids will enjoy as well as the beach. However, it will be packed in the summer, but that comes with a park like this one. In the winter they have 1 indoor pool for swimming. All in all not a bad place to spend the week if you don't require trees, but you will have a lot of close neighbors. No provided fire pits either if you like a fire, bring yours along. We camped at Ocean Lakes Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Granite Hill Camping Resort, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Location is why you would come to this park. It is very near Gettysburg and an easy drive in. The pool was closed for the season when we stayed, but the campground had lots of room for kids to play. We stayed in the Pull Thru spots near the entrance (B1 - B10) and they were only ~1" out of level. I did walk around and see many site further up the hill were way out of level (5" - 7", based on blocks under tires). We camped at Granite Hill Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Outdoor World - Harbor View Campground, Colonial Beach, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is part of the Thousand Trails Membership. I am not a member but was able to make a reservation since they had openings. It is a very shaded campground, but that also make a lot of the sites very tight. I could not open my bunkroom slide due to the way the site was set up. I was in sections C, which is where many of the long term members stay. It had the largest spots, where most sites in the A section were very small. I checked in after hours and the map they left for me indicated in highlighter that I should go in the road the opposite way from what was indicated on the printed map. This did not work at all and I ended up having to back out of the road. My friend stayed that they took her the "wrong" way leading her to the spot. I am not sure the people giving these directions understand how to put a camper in a spot easily. All the sites have a small concrete patio. However, looking at a lot of sites, I believe these are left over from the days when Pop-ups were the most common and it is where they were parked. This could be a really nice park if they spent a little time and money on the sites. Many GPS's will tell you to turn down Evergreen Drive, which is a dirt road just before the campground. DO NOT DO THIS!!!! Keep going straight and turn on EBB TIDE DRIVE. EBB TIDE is the road that the campground is on and Evergreen cuts back to EBB Tide, saving you about 500 Yards travel distance. However, you will not make it with a RV. I went back to check it out and see what would have happened if I had gone down Everegreen Drive. I had to put my truck in 4X4 to get through and the ruts were very deep. No way you would pull a camper through this route. If you have a large RV try to get section C or B. It was a very clean park and all the people around me were very friendly. We camped at Outdoor World - Harbor View Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Solomons Island Navy Recreation Area (Military FamCamp), Solomons, Maryland

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This is on a military recreation center so you will have to have authorized access for this base. Overall the park and facilities are in good order. However, there are several long term campers that have spots that are in disrepair. The site around there camper has very tall grass, all of their belonging lying about and is generally an eye sore. I have been here several times and this has always been the case. I have no problem with long term camping, but make them keep their site presentable. The camper close to us was unoccupied except when they stopped by to feed the dogs that were living in it. If you find a spot away from these areas it is a nice place for a visit. There is a nice pool and a beach along the river, driving range, fishing pier (needs repair), and planned activities. We camped at Solomons Island Navy Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Elk Neck State Park, North East, Maryland

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Sites were somewhat close together, but not bad for a state park. Entire park appeared to be very clean. There is a beach, several trails, a light house to visit. All of these required driving to another part of the park, it would be a long way to walk but could be done with a bicycle if desired. As with many state parks, you are not allowed to bring in fire wood. There is a camp store where it can be purchased. We camped at Elk Neck State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Kings Creek RV Campground (Military FamCamp), Cheatham Annex Naval Station, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park is on an active military base, so you will need access to use the facilities. There are 50 concrete sites available and most appeared to be mostly level. However, there were some that looked several inches out of level. My site looked level but had about a 2" slope from side to side. Overall the Pads are long enough to park your camper and at least get another vehicle in sideway in front of the camper. Cable TV had many more channels than I would have expected, however there was almost no AT&T service. Verizon appeared to have some service throughout most of the sites. Most sites have an installed grill and fire ring. For some reason my site was one of the very few I could find without a fire ring. Nice open space with lots of room. I would return and would love this same spot. Utilities were closer to the front of the Pad. Would have preferred them closer to the rear, but it was manageable with an added length of hose and not putting my trailer all the way at the back of the site.
