Providing a lush green oasis of thick grassy lawns beneath mature specimen shade trees, this Washington State Park lies along the north shore of the Columbia River (Rufus Woods Lake) just above Chief Joseph Dam. Although the sites do not have sewer hookups, a dump site is conveniently available. There is sandy beach access to a swimming area. A well prepared concrete boat launch facility with two ample docks provides ready access to productive rainbow trout waters. This park is meticulously maintained. It can be busy on weekends during the summer. Reservations are not accepted.

This park has it all. This was our second visit and the rates are higher now, during the peak summer season than they were during our earlier visit. Also, the campground was more heavily occupied during our weekend stay. Still, this is a first rate facility, well maintained and within walking distance of Chelan's many attractions-even the dock from which the "Lady of the Lake" excursion boat departs. The courtesy and friendliness of the reception staff deserves special mention.

We have visited Honey Bear Campground several times and will visit again. While not directly on the beach, this facility offers a unique camping experience. Elk and wild turkey can be observed in the meadow during times of the day. We have also enjoyed the restaurant which serves steak dinners some nights and German fare on other evenings. The owner provides live music and entertainment and even a deli so that you can take some of the excellent food with you when you leave.
