Stagecoach RV Park, St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

We stay here twice per year returning from practically any RV destination. This park is quite nice and well run with a good dog park. Sites are spacious and level and the fire ants are controlled better here than most parks in the southeast. This is a good place to stay for either overnight or a longer stay when touring the St. Augustine area. Outlet malls, restaurants, and a National Park are all close. There was an issue getting to this park when traveling southbound on I-95. When you exit the Interstate, you turn right at the end of the ramp and then need to make a quick left to find County Road 208. This used to be difficult with traffic, but there is a light at the end of the ramp now, so, that issue has been resolved - wait for the light to turn green and you're good to go! We camped at Stagecoach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Shady Acres Campground, Mobile, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a nice place to stay for overnight or longer term when visiting the Mobile area. It's close to I-10 and relatively close to I-65 which allows you to efficiently navigate the area. As others have stated, the park is mostly longer term residents but contains a central area with pull-thru sites for transient RVers. The park is, in fact, shady. However, squirrels in the oak trees may drop/throw acorns down onto the roof of your RV. While this didn't particularly bother me, our dogs found it most annoying! Our site was level, shaded, and the utilities worked well including the cable TV. Office attendant was friendly and helpful - offering advice on touring the Mobile area. We enjoyed the USS Alabama military park which also includes the USS Drum submarine and a very nice airplane exhibit. The airplane exhibit includes an A-12 OXCART (that's the CIA version of the USAF SR-71) which is particularly interesting. We also recommend visiting the town of Fairhope AL - located on the eastern side of Mobile bay, about 35 minutes from this park. In Fairhope, you will find many interesting privately owned shops - much better than going to a mall! We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park, Vicksburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great place to stay for overnight or longer when visiting the Vicksburg area. It's very convenient to I-20 and to major surface streets for touriining their players club. Great views of the Mississippi River from the buffet restaurant. ng Vicksburg. This park is extremely well lit with security monitor provided - we felt very safe here and walking the dogs in the evening was pleasant because of the park lighting. The park is affiliated with the Ameristar Casino which is across the street - 24hr shuttle service (which I recommend because there is a steep hill between the RV park and the casino). As usual, upon entering the casino you'll encounter some cigarette smoke smell - it's not bad, don't be a wimp! There are three restaurants in the casino, one on the main floor that serves grill/café food 24 hrs/day. On the 2nd floor there is a buffet and a steakhouse. We ate at the buffet and it was excellent, although not cheap at $26 per person - that includes a $3 discount you receive for joining their players club. Great views of the Mississippi River from the buffet restaurant. We camped at Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We stayed in Vicksburg a couple of days and saw the National Battlefield and Cemetery (2nd largest national cemetery in the country) - both interesting as was the old courthouse museum. Include a stop at the Cairo Museum (part of the Battlefield).

For local southern cuisine, I recommend eating at the Walnut Hills restaurant, which is close to the park, but you'll need to drive there. Shops along the waterfront are also somewhat interesting.

Triple C's Campground & RV Park (Formerly Chattahoochee/Tallahassee W', Chattahoochee, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed at this park a few times. One interesting sight on the way to the campground is an old, abandoned Jai Alai fronton - looks like it's been quite a few years since anyone played there. As other reviews have stated, this park is older with many shade trees, gravel roads and gravel sites. Our site was near the dog park and level. No issues for our motorhome towing a vehicle, although the roads/turns are a bit narrow in places. This is a very good overnight place to stay. It's easy access to/from I-10, and there is a gas station between the Interstate and the park. Prices are reasonable and service is good - we were led to our site by one of the attendants in his golf cart. Recommend for an overnight stay. We camped at Triple C's Campground & RV Park (Formerly Chattahoochee/Tallahassee W' in a Motorhome.

Springridge Mobile Estates & RV Park, Clinton, Mississippi

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fine park for an overnight stay. It's easy access to I-20. The park itself is a mobile home park with a big parking lot for transient RVers. The RV section isn't much to look at, but the rest of the park is very nice, and it's pleasant to walk around. There is a dog walk area and plenty of space to walk your pets. The check-in procedure is a little unusual, you stop at a stop sign about 100 feet in front of the office and leave your rig on the road. Then, walk into the office and everything else is normal - the office attendants are friendly and helpful and will show you where to park your rig. The site numbering is a bit confusing, so, it's relatively easy to choose the wrong spot (someone was already sitting in the spot assigned to us). But it's easy enough to slide into another spot if that happens to you. Our site was level, but I saw some sites that were not very level. Water pressure was good and everything worked well for our stay here. Recommended for an overnight stop. We camped at Springridge Mobile Estates & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stagecoach RV Park, St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

We live in Florida and typically stay in the St. Augustine area our last night before returning home. So, we've sampled all of the parks in this area and Stagecoach is our park of choice. We like the fact that most of the sites are pull-through, there are many good restaurants close by, and they have very good cable TV. The sites are well spaced and there is ample room to walk your pets as well as a 2 dog parks, one for small dogs and one for large dogs. The park is clean and well run. One thing to be aware of is that if your are traveling south on I-95, when you exit for county road 208 you will make a right at the end of the exit ramp and then an immediate left. If you're arriving in rush hour, it can take a while for traffic to clear. We camped at Stagecoach RV Park in a Motorhome.

James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We have visited Charleston many times and this is our preferred place to stay. It's a lovely county park with a campground included. The park is fantastic, with a beautiful lake, climbing wall, dog park adjacent to the lake, and many other amenities. The campground itself is good but not great. The sites are all dirt and most are back-in, although there are a few pull-through sites. Most of the sites are well shaded and spacious, but there are a few sites that are right on top of your neighbors - fine if your camping with friends, but too close for me to be to strangers. We recommend you check out the park map on-line before committing to a space. Also, reservations are recommend as the park us usually full. During our stay in April 2018, both bath-houses were closed for renovation. It seemed odd they decided to close both at the same time, but that's the current state of things. This resulted in a 30% discount, which was a great deal for us, but if you're tent-camping, you may want to wait for the renovations to be completed. As mentioned in other reviews, the one big drawback of this park is that getting to it requires you navigate some narrow roads with overhanging limbs. This did not present a problem for us. We camped at James Island County Park in a Motorhome.

Wilmington KOA, Wilmington, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We have not had very good luck at KOAs especially those located inside the boundary a large town or city. However, this KOA was a very pleasant surprise. When visiting Wilmington, there are not may options close to town and this park is an excellent choice. Yes, it's located on a busy road but most of the time you'll be making a right turn out of the park. There are many good restaurants within just a few miles. Sites are gravel but level and well maintained. There is a dog park and several organized activities for children. In addition to RV sites, this park has quite a few cabins for rent. We found this park to be very well run and an enjoyable stay. Recommended. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Motorhome.

Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at this park for 6 consecutive years for the RBC Heritage golf tournament. It's a very nice park and we'll certainly return to it for any future visits to HHI. As reported in other reviews, the check-in process is to drive around the park in a golf cart and select your own site. There are a few sites on the water, but I've never seen one of them available when we checked-in. We prefer sites on the "outer loop" as opposed to the "inner loop" because they are further away from the pool and tennis court and the noise associated with them. Park is extremely well run, well kept, neat, clean and secure. You'll pay a little more here, but it will be difficult to find a nicer park. We camped at Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Country Oaks RV Park & Campground, Kingsland, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Country Oaks is a great place to stop overnight on your way up/down I-95. Close to the highway, easy to find, easy in/out. Depending on the time of year, you may need reservations in advance. For example, when the snowbirds are migrating north from Florida in late March and early April, a reservation a week or two in advance is advisable. The park was full when we checked-in. We camped at Country Oaks RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

The Barnyard RV Park, Lexington, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This park is conveniently located and easy in/out from I-26. The area is older and industrial and the park itself is located directly behind a flea market. We were out in the evening several times and didn't notice any nefarious activity in the parking lot of the flea market as had been reported by others - we felt completely safe our entire time there. I was surprised by how quickly we were able to reach all of the area's attractions. Park has a typical multi-loop configuration. Most of the sites are nicely separated with some shade - our site was particularly good with shade, grass and plenty of space. Not all the sites are a nice as the one we had. Check-in process was easy and the staff was helpful and pleasant. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at the HHH RV Resort 5 times. We have relatives with a timeshare on the island so we come here for 1 week every year when the PGA plays a tour event at Harbor Town Golf Course. They have an unusual check-in procedure that requires you to drive around the park (in a golf cart) and select your own spot. All of the sites are "back in", so, plan on unhooking your tow vehicle in front of the office. The sites are privately owned and have been upgraded by the owners with things like pavers, lights, plants/trees, and even fountains. The staff is very helpful. Also know that, should you need it, there is a Veterinary Clinic in Bluffton (the next town) that is open until 8:00pm - we highly recommend the Bluffton Veterinary Hospital. This isn't the cheapest RV park , but it will be difficult for you to find a nicer one. We camped at Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Sunshine RV Park, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Other parks were full when we visited the Savannah area, so we stayed at the Sunshine RV Park. First, one needs to understand the check-in process. The park is in a residential and government area. To check in, you pull up in front of the owner's house - park on the street and walk up to his/her garage which has an "Office" sign on it. When I checked-in, I was not given a map of the park, or any documentation whatsoever. They were, however, very adept at taking my $135 for three nights - which is only accepted by cash or personal check. Then, you drive down the street to another relative's house and are told where to park. The "main" park has a couple of typical loops and is located behind a fence. We were in the auxiliary area, which is a U shaped parking lot with back-in spaces around the outside. They sites here are close together and there is absolutely no shade. The sites in the main park appeared a bit better. This park is fine for a short basic stay. By that I mean, it's safe, relatively clean, and all of the hook-ups work. Don't expect much beyond that. We camped at Sunshine RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stagecoach RV Park, St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at several campgrounds in the St. Augustine area and like this one best. The sites are spacious with grass between them. Planted trees at the sites have grown to about 20 feet providing shade at every site I saw. The park is clean and well maintained, I did not see a single fire-ant mound - if you know anything about Florida, that's saying something. I made a reservation the day before. When we arrived, they had an arrival package prepared for me that included a map of the park with rules and TV stations with my site clearly marked. Check-in took about 10 seconds. Management has added a brand new dog park which is freshly sodded. There are two sides, one for large dogs and one for small dogs - our traveling companions approved of this improvement! We camped at Stagecoach RV Park in a Motorhome.
