Tips for other Campers:

Take a walk through downtown Panguitch before all remnants of the Wild West disappear. Street side signs describe history of each building. Cowboy Restaurant had delicious mesquite smoked meat as well as house made sides and desserts but its cash only (ATM inside).

Lakeside RV and Campground, Provo, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park setting just a few miles from downtown Provo but set in quiet rural area. Plenty of shade trees and grass. Clean laundry. Quiet campers. Scenic trail along Provo River is accessible from campground. Utah Lake State Park is walking distance ($2 walk-in fee). We camped at Lakeside RV and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Little Valley Country Store and RV Park, Mantua, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Mantua Reservoir is walking distance if you like to hike or walk dog around shore path or have a boat to launch. Tasty food available at store, with courteous helpful staff and bike and kayak rentals. This park, however, is not representative of the fine folks of Utah. Be prepared to have locals park their vehicles in designated RV spots, block your rig into already tight spots with their stuff and play ear splitting music into the wee hours of the morning. If you are elderly, sick or rather not have children subjected to shouting all night, pass this one by. We camped at Little Valley Country Store and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Munds Park RV Resort, Munds Park, Arizona

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Don't let the bucolic appearance fool you: An airport runway would offer more peace. Check-in agreement states rules about "loud music and noise" will be "strictly enforced." Really? Thumping bass and drums from the park-sponsored band well into the night, unmuffled ATVs racing up and down roads all night and screaming drunks add to the "resort feel." Oh, and if you are assigned a space with no sewer, prepare to pay $10 to dump (a discount over the usual $20.). Lady at the desk was nice, though. We camped at Munds Park RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Billings Village RV Park, Billings, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Nice shady park near I-90 to rest overnight, with full amenities and wide paved roads to maneuver. Despite check-in being crazy busy with Yellowstone travelers, they were kind enough to honor our phone-ahead request for a site long enough to accommodate our rig staying hitched overnight. Despite industrial location, you wouldn't know if from inside this pretty park. Typical narrow strip of grass between sites but very doable for our slide and awning. We camped at Billings Village RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lake Park Campground, Rapid City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Shady, close to town, walk to beautiful city park and gravel stream-side nature trails across the street. Excellent customer service from staff. Would be a 10 if it had some space between sites (typical narrow grass strip adequate for our slide and awning) and if utilities were consistently located (we shared electric with neighbor and dumped on way out due to sewer connection in front of site). No biggie either way, we look forward to returning. We camped at Lake Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Adjacent city park is beautiful, with paved hiking trails, lagoon stocked with trout and pedal boat rentals. Nature center across street is great for walking leashed pets, with stream-side gravel trail and trash receptacle to deposit waste. Downtown Rapid City is a must-see, with historic buildings on Main St, featuring exceptional American Indian arts, crafts and gift store on corner. From here, take 5th street south a few miles if you need a Walmart stop.

Hancock City Park, Hancock, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Accident waiting to happen. Kids on bikes and trikes flying around blind corners - in the wrong direction. Campers driving the wrong way around narrow, curved interior roads shrouded with trees trying to shoehorn into short, odd-angled sites. Trapped at departure by a series of vehicles blocking the road with no concern over check-out time. In fairness, the facility has plenty to offer, including a beach, boat dock and scenic sites with natural buffers between most campers. Plus, Houghton, Hancock and Calumet are rich in history that spills over into present day. We camped at Hancock City Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Day trip to Calumet puts you back in time with a downtown full of historic buildings that tell the boom-to-bust story of copper mining. Authentic Finnish fare at Kaleva Cafe in Hancock and Suomi Restaurant in Houghton. Excellent Wash Tub laundromat on Michigan and surprisingly clean and comprehensive Keewanaw Food co-op on Ethel St. in Hancock. Learn about the birth of pro hockey in the small but fascinating display in the lobby of Dee Arena in Houghton.

Loretta Lynn's Family Campground, Hurricane Mills, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This has been the highlight of our cross-country trip. Real old-timey campground feel and the glimpse into Loretta Lynn's life was worth unhooking for the two mile trip. Gorgeous, peaceful grounds. Friendly, helpful host does the work of four people, doing hosting, ringing sales and cooking at the store as well as running night activities. (Hope she gets a raise). Yes, the sites are narrow and the winding roads even trickier, so you'll need to pick your site wisely. We chose Site 8 so we could back out instead of threading our way at a sharp angle through trees. Great family friendly camp with plenty for kids to do. You'll need to bring a 50 amp adapter or buy one at the camp store if you have a 30 amp rig. We camped at Loretta Lynn's Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Ivy's Cove RV Retreat, Russellville, Arkansas

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Ivy's is perfect for those seeking a clean, quiet and safe rural camp close to freeway exit and city conveniences such as stores, restaurants and gas stations. Just keep in mind the office is generally vacant but the owner is responsive to cell phone and very customer-service oriented. Cell and WiFi are strong, while cable requires loaner box from office (unable to get antenna TV stations). Spotless laundry room with extended hours, coin changer, snack and detergent machines. Large grassy areas to walk dogs (had no problem with other dogs). You can even wash your rig onsite - - now that's a rare find. We camped at Ivy's Cove RV Retreat in a Travel Trailer.

Happy Days RV (5 miles from camp) bailed us out of a jam by getting us a Husky hitch bar in under 24 hours, at a cost 20 percent less than online stores. Highly recommended.

Distant Drums RV Resort, Camp Verde, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Outstanding customer service, cleanliness and location. Although adjacent to highway, surprisingly quiet since it lies low, buffered by surrounding terrain. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Clean level sites. All the services you need. At peak times, WiFi may be spotty, but solved using clubhouse locations. (At least WiFi is provided and it is free of charge, unlike other parks). More scenic than you would guess from highway. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
