White Oak Shores Camping & RV Resort, Stella, North Carolina

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Huge campground predominately seasonal and fulltime vacation cabins. Several pull thru rows for transient campers. Nice store and facilities. Helpful staff. We would stay here again. We were surprised how fast people drove thru park...no speed bumps, be careful when kids would be out. We camped at White Oak Shores Camping & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Indian Heritage RV Park, Martinsville, Virginia

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Mostly filled with seasonal workers...so busy and noisy with people leaving or coming in. Easy access with canoe to White River. Electric and water fine. The pictures on website and camp map look much better than reality. They claim to have cabins...look abandoned. Office is in brick house and was easy to drive by. We camped at Indian Heritage RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Kaskaskia Dragon RV Park, Vandalia, Illinois

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

About 15 pull thru sites in a gravel lot lined up on a road with a 20+ steel Dragon that breathes fire when you insert token. Laundry and pet wash (and liquor store) all across the street. Easy access to highway. Check in at hardware store...people were nice. Full hook ups and only a few other campers. Good overnight stop because not much else there. We camped at Kaskaskia Dragon RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Back portion (30+) sites are all seasonal. Front portion monthly or short term pull-thru and backing. Sites are all gravel but pretty level, full hook up, wifi, pool, laundry, play area, etc. New owners (1 1/2 years) are super nice and take pride in a clean and organized campground. Convenient to east side of lake and lots of nearby amenities/stores. We camped at Osage Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Baxters offered great food and views. Rusty Rooster has top flight breakfast. Casablanca had good pizza and live music. Ha Ha Tonka state park is a must. Seven Springs Winery, Dale Hollow Winery, St. James Winery were all tops.. Randy Frozen Custard...yummmm!

Evergreen Park Resort RV Resort, Dundee, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Spent 4 nights with in-laws ...both of us have fifth wheels. Decided to add the fourth night a few weeks before arrival and resort was very accommodating. Super indoor pool, game room, huge laundry, b-ball court, two huge pavilions, shuffleboard...list goes on. Everything was immaculate, gardens were well kept and in full bloom. All the roads and sites were newer asphalt full hook ups...everything worked. Definitely a place we would return to...one of the best RV parks we've stayed in. We camped at Evergreen Park Resort RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Big Bone Lick State Park, Union, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Smaller park with well spaced out sites. However, many sites are very unravel despite being asphalt....plus, not big rig friendly. Tight fit for our 32' fifth wheel. Nice pool, though small, and it was not being refilled with water...level clear went down. There is a nice putt putt course, sadly there was a tree that had fallen down on the course some time ago and never cleaned up. Camp hosts were active putting reservation forms on site poles. Dump station was adequate. Water source was shared between two sites...thankfully, we had 50' of hose. Convenient to half way point to family in Louisville with camper. So, we will probably stay here again...it's ok and works for us. Met nice people from Louisiana and North Dakota. We camped at Big Bone Lick State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Quite a few campers stayed here as a base to tour Cincinnati, the Creation Museum and the full size Ark Experience. People were really impressed. Some park trails plus a park museum, bison, lake and sulphur spring. Rabbit Hash is 15 minutes away but could not find a place to park dually truck with hundreds of bikers there. A few wineries nearby...must visits! Grandkids and pool seemed most popular activity for us!

Alum Creek State Park, Delaware, Ohio

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Really nice large campground where it feels small because sites are well spaced and separated by greenery. Lake is nice with beach, activities areas, marina and some access from shore to fish. Our site was a full hook up 50amp site...but we noticed other premium sites that were electric and water only if you were close to lake inlets. The check in station had suffered a fire so No one was there, no maps (though camp signage was good). Then shower house was closed and dumpsters were overflowing. Our last day, a staff person manned a temp check in station, was nice and explained trash contractor was remiss and would be picking up soon...and finally dumpsters began to empty. As park got filled, there were multiple reservation issues between campers and no staff around to help. People generally cooperated. We would return. Golden Buckets gets price cut in half, too. We camped at Alum Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Delaware Ohio has Buns Restaurant...it's been around for 150+ years...good comfort foods and Greek food. Town has cheese shop, theatre, restaurants, pubs, and antique stores...fun to explore. Blend of 7 Winery is great...music, fire cooked pizza, wide range of wines, reasonable prices run by a delightful family.

Double J Campground and RV Park, Chatham, Illinois

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Park is convenient to Springfield activities, well organized, lots of outdoor activities, well maintained and staffed by helpful people. We had fun playing airhockey, pingpong, shuffleboard and the nearly impossible putt putt course. This park is clean and have staff always available. Liked the shaded site and dog park, basketball court, pool (Not yet open), and pavillion. Would stay here again. Heavy rains only left small puddles so good drainage. Hickory Holler Campground, West York, Illinois

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Scenic campground around lakes run by a super nice couple. Park started in 1969 and is stuck in a time warp. Not big rig friendly...plus bring extra water and slinky to reach shared water spigots. Water pressure and electric were strong but no internet nor cable. Playground equipment was ancient as was washer and dryer in laundry. Sites are not numbered since they lead you to a spot where you should fit. Heavily shaded with mature Shagbark hickories. We camped at Hickory Holler Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Wanderlust Crossings RV Park, Weatherford, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

New park with staff committed to keeping it pristine and RV friendly. All facilities were modern, even had underground tornado shelters for campers use in a weather emergency. In process of building a meeting/party room. Trailer set on a level concrete pad that they pressure wash after you leave...with grass on both sides of the wide site that they water during the night. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Wanderlust Crossings RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Take time to go to the Stafford Air and Space Museum...amazing. The Heartland Museum was entertaining and captured a look at the past. If you see all the wind farms and wondered just how big they are, stop by the Wind Power Park. Within a stone's throw of the RV park is Deep Creek Burgers and Pizza. Pizza was excellent. Restaurant is light on signage and sits behind a car dealership...but worth the stop...look for it.

Mountain Road RV Park, Tucumcari, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Park is convenient to I40 and seems to be primarily a one night stop over. Only a few seasonal campers about 60 pull the US...half with cable. Utilities work (50amp is $3/night) but little attention to park and facilities for several years. Office stays open till 8pm but takes off between 11:30 - 2pm. Price quoted on phone morphed into more at check-in which agreed to stay at the quoted price. Laundromat is only $1/load...but they have been well used. Broken and bent pipes in many sites, playground is not suitable. Road noise. Want to park overnight it is ok. We stayed several days fighting a fever so park didn't matter much to us. Most picnic tables are not usable. We camped at Mountain Road RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
